I also wanted to share my story for an average poster trying hard to earn merits and now becoming a full member in rank. It was just a plain poem inspired by @lordhermes with his poem writing.

I do hope that it could qualify your standard in picking bitcointalk forum story. Though it is not that really a good story but at least an average poster manage to earn merits for some time when I got started from 2018 up to present making only 141 merits total at present.

Though I have enough Merits  (bearly) to be promoted to the next level I did not have enough number of posts. That is the issue it seems.  Now I am surfing the forum to find a good article in order to give a my insights. Then I will be able to post photos.
Fingers crossed Tongue

Its not about the promotion, but the image properties.

For example, I managed to extract another link but it looks blur as hell.

Since you're a Member now, you're able to post images using the [img]http://tags.

Strangely its not working for some unknown reason, but you can check for the Forum bbcode by hovering over the image to make it work.

It seems since I am still a newbie I can not post Images, Bad luck for me!
(I know that post count is the one that is limiting me, will wait for some organic post, do not want to post spams and increase the post count)

I agreed with @The Pharmacist's post.

We have different beginnings (in our real lives and in the forum) and those start lines don't determine who we are, and how helpful we are in the forum. The initial reasons why we joined the forum do not affect the way we use the forum, at the moment.

Are old era users better, more helpful than new era users? Nope!

Are old era users more reliable than new era users? Nope!

Are old era Hero users have more contributions than new era Hero users? (There are no self-made Legendary from new era users, due to limited time period since the birthday of merit system). Nope!

Are users join the forum without intention to join signature campaigns or bounties better than users who initially joined here only to earn money from signature/ bounties? Nope!

Users who don't wear signature can scam others while users who wear signature don't scam anyone.

People can change over time, and over their time spent in the forum. Bad posters can change and turn into good ones, and vice versa. This is why I see some managers give rejected applicants warmful recommendation: Change your post quality and apply next times!

The next step should be getting extorted using the trust system, getting tired of the double standards and stop trying.
LOL.  I guess I missed this thread when it got made, because I don't remember it at all.

I discovered the forum when I was searching for bitcoin-related stuff around 2014 or so.  Most of the google results linked to forum topics, so I just kind of became familiar with bitcointalk by reading them.  I remember there was a lot of drama and a lot of scam accusations, and this was at a time when I wasn't sure that bitcoin itself wasn't a scam thing.  I bookmarked one of the threads so I could just come back to the forum and see how all the dramas were progressing.

Finally I decided that I wanted to actually be a member, so I registered in March 2015.  I'd been aware of what signature campaigns were in a  general sense, but I had no intention of joining one when I registered.  From what little I knew about them I could clearly see that they led to a bunch of shitposts.  That was one of the first things I noticed here, that most posts were poorly written and every thread was mostly a one-sided non-discussion.  Members don't usually respond to each others' posts like they do in other forums, and I chalked that up to sig campaigns.

And then blah blah blah.  Time passed, I got hit with the sig campaign bug, ranked up, and here we are.  My path pretty much followed what's in the infographic, except for the fact that I didn't come here to earn money.  I came for the drama and the community and I haven't been disappointed since.

Bitcoin Casino Est. 2013
January 21, 2018 is the day I register in bitcointalk forum where I don't have knowledge about bitcoin and who created it, when it is created but after a few days later (three days to be exact) then the merit system was introduced by theymos which is the salvation of the forum at that time where I am clueless or doesn't have knowledge about the bitcoin, forum (like rank requirements, activity points, post counts, total of activity points that you can get within 14 days, forum rules and other information for newbies like me that is needed to learn at that time) and suddenly there is a new system implemented by theymos in the forum and that is merit system which I also slowly learned later on.

This is actually a pretty fun thread, I'll share my experiences as well, being a fairly old member.

Date Registered: November 19, 2013, 02:47:08 AM

I had heard about this new cryptographic currency called Bitcoin from a friend of mine back in 2010 (that friend was Len Sassaman btw). I completely dismissed it and told myself I would look at it later.
More than 3 years passed before I made my first Bitcoin wallet & afterwards I also joined Bitcointalk.

Looking back at my first posts, they sure looked quite spammy, to say the least.

Yes, this gem was my first post:

Second one was slightly better, though I kinda cringe at my English skills:

Completely forgot about this, but I immediately did a giveaway on Bitcointalk for a game I'd mistakenly bought for a friend (Postal 2):

2014

Anyone remember the whole Dank saga on the lending Boards? Guy tries to create his own bank, called Dank Bank and receives loans from some Bitcointalk members. He essentially spent all the money on drugs and defaulted on his loans. Afterwards he tries to raise funds to start a music festival, fails of course. He owed another Bitcointalk member (Squall) a huge amount of BTC.

Here's one of my replies on another one of his loan threads for 0.65 BTC:

Vod definitely remembers this one Wink

Also bought some honey and beef jerky via websites I'd found on this forum, both products were great!

Sent someone a loan of 0.5 BTC because their website was hacked and they lost all their BTC. Wouldn't do that again, but this guy was very honest and paid everyone back in time.

2015

Joined the Crypto-Games signature campaign. Like it or not, that was a pretty significant moment for me.

I could go on, but this post is already getting pretty long & the later years were definitely far less interesting.

Farewell o_e_l_e_o
Thanks for sharing with us. Congratulations, @crwth, @cabalism13, @finaleshot2016, @yazher, and @samcrypto! All your infographics have been there:
There is a topic, in which there are five stories, from one Hero Member, two Senior Members, one Full Member, and one Member, have been published so far. I don't like infographics, but those ones tell their chronological achievements in the forum, then I decided to add them in the list.
Please visit that topic and saw those stories:

Not your keys, not your coins!
...
I read that topic, and I don't find any reason to believe that Craig Wright is real Satoshi, and Roger Ver, obviously made one of biggest shitshow in history of bitcoin so far. Additionally, I love this signature, that designed for real Satoshi (not Craig Wright).

dogs are cute.
You pretty much missed all the main aspects of being a btt member.

Its basically you knowing and experiencing that:
  • Craig Wright is the real Satoshi and Roger Ver his right hand.
  • BCH and BSV is obviously better than bitcoin.
  • DT members are prostitutes.
  • QS is the most rightest person, and the proof he provides for accusations goes above and beyond the court of law. QS for 2020 people!
  • Signature campaign is a secret word for third world people doing manual labour to earn pennies.
  • Also, theymos runs a free yet exclusive brothel only for bitcointalk members.

Not your keys, not your coins!
Personally, I thought that it's better to describe your experience in words, not in infographics. Why I said that?
Let's take a look at two infographics in the topic, by now: The first one, from @crwth is great, beautiful and easy to read contents, but it is over large; The second and third ones, from @yazher and @samcrypto, are cool too but they are too small to read contents inside. Such over-larged infographics should be used carefully because it makes the whole page become too long. I suggest to use words, such as in the following template to describe user experience:

Template:
[User name]'s Experience in Chronological Order

My first months in the forum (from A to B)
It means user first year in the forum. It is likely a full year or imcomplete year.

My second year in the forum (from C to D)

I just saw this thread and got curious about how to do an Infographic - luckily found a good site to summarize my experiences.
Well, this is not an easy road for me a lot of ups and downs, many rejections as the market is down and my trades are not good. I know I'm just an ordinary member of the forum but I'm so lucky to found this forum because I've learn a lot about cryptocurrency and I can say that this forum helps me to achieve my financial freedom.

Maybe I can share mine too even though I don't contribute that much to the forum Cheesy

2017 (September-December)
My friend introduced me to this forum. I started creating an account and explored the forum.
I can say that I'm a shitposter at that time and its normal but not as shit as the newbie users right now Cheesy
I spend most of the time finding bounties.

2018 (early months)
I'm still finding ways to earn money thru bounty campaigns. I'm lucky to get some profit on it (bought a brand new phone and a PC) using my rewards.
My post history is full of social media reports which makes my history dirty Cheesy

2018 (mid to end year)
I tried my luck and spend most of the time now in Services section just to find an open slot in a Signature campaign that pays Bitcoin. Lucky to find one (Yolodice).
After accepting, I stopped doing bounty campaigns now and focused on my sig. Campaign.
I'm a Full Member right before the Merit system has implemented and until now, I'm still Full Member but no regrets as long as I can wear an AVATAR!!! Cheesy

2019
This year, I know that I'm not contributing that much to the forum but I will just do my best not to be a shitposter here Cheesy (or maybe I am doing it until now. Its just I don't know).
If I will rank up this year then well and good Cheesy.

To those contributors to this forum, thanks and for those spammers, just do what you want stupid idiots..

That was brutal truth !! I like you already now <3 xD hope you rank up this year Smiley
