Hi!  New to bitcoins... Trying to find a way to get a few to try it out... Proving to be more difficult than I thought at first...  At any rate, I am a sysadmin and plan on using some unused cycles for mining.... free money as I won't be paying the electric bill ;-)

I'm Batman.
This is by far the most seen post on the bitcoin forums, I am certain of that. It is also nearly the most useless thing ever written.

Hi all,

I am kev, I have been bitcoin mining for about a year now, i am running about 4ghz on btcguild and 6 - 7 on p2pool... although this fluctuates.

I have been a long time lurker and have finally decided to post.

I have set up my own merged mining, etc.

I do reverse engineering and crypto by trade.  I am currently part of a small team designing a 12 fpga modular miner. (we have yet to think of a decent name.. Smiley we are currently in the prototyping stage and awating our next batch of boards and spartans.

due to the day job of a couple of the team members we have access to some small artix 7 engineering samples. we will be building future compatibility into our fpga boards.

we may or may not open source it.

Thats about it for now i guess.

cheers,

k.

Hi everyone, I'm new to this site. My curiosity of Satoshi Nakamoto has lead me to this website. I'm curious if anyone has any information on him. I have been an avid follower of him (or the rumors of him) for years now. Any new word?  THANK YOU! Cheers...

Hi Guys,

I'm form Argentina, and I love this cool idea of the Bitcoins, I'm very interested in loans and looking forward to learn from all of you. On the other side I'll like to spread the concept as much as we can in order to create a new and open economy.

Hiya Guys and Gals

I have been mining bitcoins for nearly a year (approx 360MH/s across two machines)

I just want to post about two problems when my probation is over.

The first is regarding
https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/06-bitcoin-qt-stuck-at-block-176947-78307

I have one machine stuck at the same block. (was running Bitcoin 0.3.24, then upgraded to 0.6.0) same problem.
I have moved the entire contents of appdata\bitcoin folder (backing up wallet first) and redownloaded the entire chain. The chain is at 99% having got stuck at block 176947 again.
I have checked the correct port forwarded on my router (to the correct PC) and added bitcoin.conf with the correct port number.

The second problem is minor at the mo, regarding CPU usage (100% of one core) when minimal or no CPU should be used. I havn't concentrated any effort on this problem as I can do with the extra heat being generated at the mo :-)

Other than that...

I am batman

I had the same problem.  Winxp, 32bit.  Low spec machine.  I found a thread elsewhere on the forum that suggested that MSE was messing with the Satoshi client.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=printpage;topic=47297.0

I solved the problem by moving my client to a better machine.  The low-spec machine is my mining rig.  It's whole purpose in life is to interface to my three fpga mining boards.  Yeah, I know...Shouldn't run my client on my mining machine....

As for introductions, I'm an FPGA developer at my day job.  I'm mining with fpga three boards right now (one of which I designed myself).  384 Mh/sec @ 70 watts or so.

I pulled this board out of the trash.  It is a stratix-ii eval board.  It runs 175 Mh/sec.  Once work frees up a bit I should be able to bump it up to the 300 mh/sec mark....if the board doesn't meltdown  Grin  The bridge rectifier makes it impossible to plug in backwards....but 0.7V the diode drop at 2+ amps gets quite hot.  Nothing a soldering iron and a few pieces of wire won't fix.
