Since I am still stuck in this newbie thread I guess I will post this message here. I just upgraded my phatk kernel to the latest version 2.2 and my average Mhash on a typical 5830 went from 310 to 330.  Not bad. Worth the time if any of you guys are using the phoenix miner with an older phatk kernel.

Hello I am Paul with BTC Capital. I am a newbie to BTC but its' potential for human good and profit has touched and moved me. I have started a new BTC Intermediary Service and Investment Advisory Service business in California. You can find out more about my company at www.btccapus.com
I have an undergraduate degree in economics and graduate degree in law. I am California licensed attorney and practice law in the San Francisco Bay Area and have done so for the last fifteen years. In addition, I also hold a California real estate brokers license. My first exposure to BTC was in April of this year and I have decided to dedicate myself to its success. I want to make BTC and I want to make my clients BTC. I recently made a presentation about bitcoin to my stock group and a local chapter of the American Association of Individual Investors. This month I represented a buyer and seller in the purchase and sale of a single family home in Alameda County the value of which was in excess of BTC 45,000.00. I performed all of the title, escrow, and recordation services and have complementary references from the buyer and seller. If you need exchange services, escrow, or realty services in California, I am your guy. My rates are negotiable and my services are excellent. I have also launched the BTC Opportunities Fund whose purpose is to feed funds to BTC related hedge funds as well as feed funds to BTC related commercial real estate investments. I plan on doing a weekly netcast, I need help anybody want to be a co-host and help me out technically?

True and I understand that the hashrate will fluctuate due to the time it takes to solve the block etc.. but this was periods of time where my hashrate was 30-40 percent less than it should have been and it stayed that way for several hours. Also the number of estimated coins that were expected to be generated in the last 24 hour period was also 30 percent or more lower than typical. Maybe it was a partial DOS or some extremely high network traffic, I am not totally sure. But, since I created different workers for each of my cards I have not had it happen again. Bear in mind, in over a month of mining on deepbit I had never seen that happen before. Yes, there were quite a few times I lost connection because of DOS attacks but this was different.

Over the last week or so I started noticing that I when using the deepbit pool my collective Mhash rate was not reflecting the correct total for the number of cards I have in total. There were times when it was as much as 30-40 percent lower than it should have been. I created a different worker for each video card and the problem has resolved itself. This is only my experience but I thought I would post this message in case anyone else may have the same issue.

BK

I actually noticed the same thing when I got set up, but senior members explained that you're just going to see different numbers from time to time on the pool's website because they typically calculate your estimated hash rate over the last 10-15 minutes. The estimate is based on the amount of work your computer requests, which is based on how successful it has been at solving shares, so there's an element of chance involved in the number displayed on the pool's website. Note, this is all secondhand knowledge and your issue may in fact be different since you're using multiple cards, but I just thought I'd let you know so you weren't dismayed if/when you saw a variance in your hash rate again.

Might as well introduce myself.  I've been lurking since April when I first got interested in BTC.  I'd been getting ready to upgrade my video card in my home PC and decided to go with an ATI card after reading about mining on the board.  Now I'm running dual 5850s overclocked 24/7.  I guess you could say I caught the bug!  There are lots of crazy things happening in the world right now and I feel like bitcoin is certainly a big part of it, so I'm glad to obsess about it with other geeks here.  Smiley
