I just looked at bitcoin chart and I think you should wait a few more days and then buy cause the price is getting a bit lower. Also I don't think you should put all your investment at once. Anyways I don't think it's safe to keep your bitcoins till 2020.
Why you think it is unsafe to hold till next halving? if I had a choice, I would have hold for another 10 years.
Coming back to op,as bitcoin price is making new records, this is not the right time to buy.Wait for 1-2 week till bitcoin price settle down, then buy.
Dont need to argue because no one really knows on what would happen to bitcoin on upcoming years to come.We do have our own perspective and we should respect that on how we gonna engage to bitcoin and you are right better to wait for a week after the news so we could able to spot out the best chance to buy bitcoin.

Thanks everyone, I see the correction has started, I've prepared 5k following the suggestion to split the investment.

Now the natural question that follow is which target to wait? Do you think it will break 1150? I suppose so but I like to have your opinions!

Hi there,
I've been watching BTC since 2011. I've made experience trading and I had good ROI investing 500$ (got 2k back).
I've been saving since then and now I feel I'm ready to invest some more.

I have a few questions:
1. Where I should buy such quantity? Up to now I've been using BTC-E and Localbitcoins to buy/sell BTC
2. It's a good time? At today it's 1100$/BTC.. Not the best moment I think, what do you think? Shall I wait?
3. I'm ready to hold it till the next halving (2020 I believe), do you consider it safe (even at the current price)

Thanks for your comments Smiley
My question to you would be why did you wait for a long time after getting a good profit and what made you to come back when the price is high.If ETF is approved we can expect a price rise but it is highly unlikely that i will be approved this time around.
Your question itself has the answer. When bitcoin get great value, all the old adopters will make a come back and might regret for NOT holding. It is a common scenario in bitcoin I have read many people were crying who actually mined bitcoins just with their CPU.

ETF is highly expected to get approved as per many financial expert's view, but you are giving different statement, still we need to wait for actual outcome.

To buy huge money like 20k euro, I will prefer splitting up and buying in different exchanges and hence I will have less risk of losses.

I think the current momentum in the bitcoin price can't be sustainable for long, and sooner rather than later we will see an important correction that could send the price below the $1,000 mark again, so I think you should be patient to wait for a better price and invest your capital with maximum benefit.

Holding bitcoins is good plan, but if you are watching btc from 2011 its strange that you dont have experience with bitcoins by now. You should know that price is dropping after each big rise, maybe you need to wait a bit more, price can drop.
20k is a lot, for 3 years and next halving you can double your investment.

Having experience and feel confident in this kind of investment are two different things.
Asking is a good way to confirm my thoughts.
Thanks for your valuable comments!

why did you wait this long, if you don't mind me asking. i mean there has been so many awesome opportunities to get in. remember the $180 bitcoin day or the day Hearn helped us get low 400ish bitcoins once again.

In a word, confidence.  Smiley I had to convince myself and my partner too. I was always "I'm going to do it" but I have waited till now.
Last year (400 level) I was ready myself but I was concentrated doing other things. I suppose life and confidence needs his time.

1. depending on where you live you should try some exchanges that accept your bank, BTC-E has higher fees and the price there is usually behind (lower on rises). localbitcoins is super high price than exchanges.

2. if you wanna go long it is a good time, if short nobody can tell you/

3. in that case then it is an awesome time to buy. although learn about how to secure your wallet (cold storage which you may already know) and then know that price is volatile so plan accordingly.

If I would be having that amount of money then I would choose to invest in bitcoins at this stage as price is going higher and higher so it can give me best returns in future if I can manage to hold them for a descent time period.

actually it is a bit expensive to buy in 1100$, bitcoin price is a bit unstable for a moment, but if you want to hold that long I think you are going to make some profit, judging from the chart and the trends, when 2020 bitcoin will be more expensive than 1100$
Yes, in future bitcoin will be on moon hence buying now must be a profitable action. Based on some basic characteristics of bitcoin, we can be assured about bitcoin's future prices regardless of currently influencing factors like ETF approval or anything similar to that. (If that will not happen it might happen in near future. Because people's demand will make government to approve them.)

If we do not buy now, we may miss $1100 levels' buying opportunities permamnently. Or may need to wait for ROI for some times. But surely we will be in profits after years.

Price will surely higher after 3 years and may be we may see the price around $2k at that point of time so if you can hold them till that time then you can buy even with a current price but if you want to make quick profits then better to wait for price drop.

Hey OP, it's nice to see that you made quite a bit profit from bitcoin.  Now for buying/selling as other people have said before me localbitcoin and even BTC-E is a good choice, stick with it. I don't think right now is the best time to buy as price can drop in coming week as the 1100 hike was a bit too fast you should  buy when the price comes down to $1000 atleast. And yes its a good decision to hold till 2020 I'm pretty sure bitcoin price will rise a lot even before halving. Good luck.

Wait for the price under 1000$ per bitcoin then buy it when you can hold it till next halving then wait for the crisis and then buy tones of bitcoin but i think it will not happen anymore on bitcoin once the etf approved. It is safe when you hold it than loosing them on investment and gambling.

I wouldn't be buying right now. There was a huge rise and there's probably going to be a correction. That's just my 2 cents.

The smartest thing to do would be to dollar cost average, buy a little every week and then you're taking less risk with the ups and downs of the price.

Well, I think the correction just happened, and it seems that it will come back up and will soon to rise. If it doesn't rise from $1,160 then probably we'll see another $900-$1,000 price ranges, the worse case would be the prices will reach $800 again. Right now might not be the best time to buy indeed.

Yes, I too will suggest you to wait for sometime and have a close look at the market rates.. I believe right now the price is in the dropping zone and I'm also waiting for it to drop some so that I can buy for my long term investment. Smiley

Currently, bitcoin is over prices I.e at the over bought zone. What you need to do now is be patient when the price pull back to $1000 or below then you can buy. You can also wait for what will happen after 11-3-2017 if the ETF get approved then if it not approved the price will pull back. Goodluck.

You've already on the right place.

You mean here on the forum? Is it safe?
