You can buy bitcoins now but do not use all your money yet. Let's wait out what will happen on the decision about ETF. The price may go down if it gets disapproved and that is a perfect time to buy.

The decision to hold until the next halving is quite good. We saw the effect of this halving to the price last time. It may happen again and your bitcoin may give you a profit of 10 times.

Thanks, the decision to hold until the next halving is more like an emergency plan. I hope to free the investment sooner but if something happen like the dump of 2014, I will hold it till then.

So it looks like you are an earlier comer than me. Then if so why you need to ask those questions if you are already into bitcoin for years already.
But I will answer some of it.

1. Where I should buy such quantity? Up to now I've been using BTC-E and Localbitcoins to buy/sell BTC
Go for LBC you can see a lot of sellers there and you can compare them and buy the lowest.

2. It's a good time? At today it's 1100$/BTC.. Not the best moment I think, what do you think? Shall I wait?

It's a good time if your a rich guy but if you are not that one, don't buy it's really high.

3. I'm ready to hold it till the next halving (2020 I believe), do you consider it safe (even at the current price)

Let's do it together mate I'm doing it too.

Well, I'm an earlier comer than you but I always played safely. Small investments, more like experiments to test the ground... Now with this decision, I feel the uncertainty to make a new move, and so I had the need to discuss it  Cheesy

This is also a good advice, don't invest all your money but only invest what you can afford to lose because that will help you to think comfortable of your investment and you don't need to worry about getting negative profit from sudden dump because you just invested a mid range money that you are ready to lose. Investing is bit kind of gambling but it can help you to grow your income.

Hi there,
I've been watching BTC since 2011. I've made experience trading and I had good ROI investing 500$ (got 2k back).
I've been saving since then and now I feel I'm ready to invest some more.

I have a few questions:
1. Where I should buy such quantity? Up to now I've been using BTC-E and Localbitcoins to buy/sell BTC
2. It's a good time? At today it's 1100$/BTC.. Not the best moment I think, what do you think? Shall I wait?
3. I'm ready to hold it till the next halving (2020 I believe), do you consider it safe (even at the current price)

Thanks for your comments Smiley
You can stick on buying and selling bitcoins in localbitcoins because that is a good site and i also tried that and i don't have any issue encountered using that. Patience is a virtue and you can wait for the price to pump more and as what you said, the next halving is incoming in 2020 which there is a high possibility of doubling the price now because there is a lot of factors that can help the price to spike up. So it is worth to wait up to 2020.

1. Stick to that if you feel you are comfortable using them. You have been using them for a long time.

2. There's no such thing as good time but right timing. Up to you to decide if you will consider any rate as "right timing".

3. Well if you consider holding then don't sell and expect that price will be up more till the next halving. It will take time are you really sure you want to do this?

I agree. Bitcoin is growing and growing because of the supply and demand reaction. Many people will invest and bitcoin this year and the price of the bitcoin will grow and grown because of that. Me myself is investing in bitcoin because bitcoin will grown as time pass by because bitcoin is only starting. It's like when people buy bitcoin the price will grow as simple as that and I am agree that investing with bitcoin is good opportunity for everyone because bitcoin has a bright future. And in the pasty speculation the bitcoin market price will reach the pick of 25000$ So better to save bitcoin now.

I just looked at bitcoin chart and I think you should wait a few more days and then buy cause the price is getting a bit lower. Also I don't think you should put all your investment at once. Anyways I don't think it's safe to keep your bitcoins till 2020.
Why you think it is unsafe to hold till next halving? if I had a choice, I would have hold for another 10 years.
Coming back to op,as bitcoin price is making new records, this is not the right time to buy.Wait for 1-2 week till bitcoin price settle down, then buy.

My opinion is that bitcoin will become safe currency only if stock markets get a big hit. If stock markets suffer a decline then bitcoin will be safe investment. Otherwise I wouldn't hold it til 2020

Even if the stock market takes a tank people will still keep going back to it and back to it as it does prove to give a good amount of gains overtime when it comes to putting the stock market on graphs for 50 years for example. It's been the safest investment so far even if people face setbacks during financial recessions like in 2008 when the stock market crashed.

You can't go ahead and compare a currency to the entire investment market (mostly used at least) for the United States, it just doesn't make sense in the least.

Though OP I don't think you should go ahead and purchase at the moment, give the hype some time to die down before you go ahead and purchase.

You've already on the right place.

This time bitcoin is unpredictable but the main speculation about the bullish of bitcoin will end on 11 march.

3. I'm ready to hold it till the next halving (2020 I believe),
do you consider it safe (even at the current price)
With the halving and it will decrease the supply of bitcoin. and i think there is a chance for the price of bitcoin to double soon.

Now it's not a good time to buy bitcoins, the price is good to sell or to wait a bit more.
If you are ready to hold until 2020, do this, you will have a lot of profit in long run. Bitcoin is the best long term investment these days, I never saw nobody complaining about this, many investors are building their future investing in bitcoins.

I'm thinking two things if you wait, it's either you will see bitcoin at lower price (not too low) but still an advantage for buying.

And you can see the price to keep on increasing which you will doubt to buy even more. We have almost the same time frame.

I'm also planning to hold until he next halving.

About buying so the suggestion is to use directly exchanges? You say so considering security, fees or both?

Buy such a big amount, I think better to use directly exchange.
Fees and security, both also need to considered. Use exchange I think it will charge pretty much fees, but use localbitcoin I think rarely to see people hold such amount, unless you separate such amount to buy periodically.

If you are thinking about holding bitcoin for long term than current price is good buy point (but don't get panic if we see some correction within few days/weeks after big rise like right now).
- Don't panic on dump
- Don't get excited on pump and buy more
- Rather than keep waiting for price rise, try to quickly sell/buy for few $ profit daily/weekly

1. BTC-E and localbitcoins for high volume daily trading  Shocked Look at coinbase, kraken and bitfinex they have much more volume than others.

2. Price is pumping really hard in this week so you better wait for some correction so that you can buy bitcoin in range of 1000$-1100$.

3. If you can wait for next 4 years (next halving) than current price can be considered as good price. Good luck

I think only services can have a good amount of Bitcoin for you to buy and sell. However, they charge a quite big fee and I doubt that you will satisfy with it. Why don't you increase your reputation and then you can sell and buy Bitcoin with a nice price. If you are a trusted member, people will sell Bitcoin to you without any doubt

I would personally be inclined to buy a huge amount, even at current prices. Let's see if this prediction comes true, I'd say that within one month, we'll see an all time high of around 1300 dollars at least and I don't think it will drop below $1000.

I've had good experiences with Kraken and Poloniex, so those are the only exchanges I would recommend.
