Continuous development but still have a bad value on the market? Sound not very good. I know a coin also has continuous development but since that coin doesn't have a 'trending' feature so the price going nowhere. It is really up to you but if you already loss 3000$ to 4000$ and the chance to come back is slim, you should sell it.
this is the main problem with many of projects they have steady development but lacking in building communities, making branding and failed in marketing. even if a project very useful its as good as nothing if no one uses it or utilize the worth of it. so many projects out there actually doing quite well developing their project but ended up failed. developers of project need to know this.

It's good to know that project is still developing but it looks like your loss is almost 70% here. The project is developing so its possible that the price will go upward but it will be very hard for you to gain any profit from it because your loss is too big. So I think it will be better to move into another project and also you can keep a very small amount of it and don't even look at that token price for the next 2 years. Maybe those small amounts will recover some of your losses.

That such a big loss i think, with almost 70% lost i think you should try another coin and a little from that maybe for you invest to yourself
Maybe buy some book or ebook, you can spend your time to learn more about the coin and watch the youtube to learn from the expert about fundamental or technical analyst
I know how expensive we spend to learn the loss we got was include from the study

Don't give me false hope, I need answers, is it a wise move to hold on to a coin that have continuous development but bad value? Or should I dump for other coin? I'm already in a big loss from 3000$ to 400$ presently, the continuous development is why I still hold on. This good or bad ? The project name is (Switch) aka ESH
The price depends on the demand so if their platform or services will be in demand only then you can expect the project to get limelight and attract people. Secondly the token should have utilities where it should be used for different tasks, this will derive demand when paltform fully launches so it is better to hold and give team more time.

I have a good idea for you. But, I'm not a financial expert. I just think about this method to regain some of your lost money..

First, consider selling your actual ESH for ether or bitcoin..
Then, invest in a promising and cheap price ICO project (one that you can have 80% assurance that it will be a success.) This means that the project already has a demo product, solid exchanges to be listed into, and a huge niche market/demand for it. It must be funded properly, with big cap, and knowledgeable team behind it. YOUengine project has all these ingredients. So, you can reinvest into this one.
Third, once you have regained some profit, sell a portion of your YOUengine tokens and hold the rest for even more profit..

If you invest in some top altcoins like btc, eth, then the amount of your capital risk will be less. I accumulated some altcoins in 2018 without any research which were later caught as shitcoins. I am sorry for your loss and i have a special plan that you keep their currency for some more time. Because if their product development is good then the demand for their currency will increase then you can bring back the loss.

I must confess that you're a loyal holder. In fact you're a good man and deserve an accolade for staying with the project despite the overwhelming drop in value. It's sincerely not worth selling now, because you're be at loss and would regret your decision if the project picks. I'll advise that you remain loyal to the project and hopefully your loyalty would pay off.

As long as the project development progresses, I don't think you need to switch to other investments, let alone hear that you have suffered huge losses with coins (Switch), maybe stick with the first decision. at least wait for the coin price to rise or until you can recover your loss capital at that point. but if you want to switch to another coin then I suggest BTC which is safe for investment.

No one disputes the fact that BTC is a great investment object, but we must remember that it will not be able to return 1000%. which OP lost by investing in Switch. Therefore, I believe that the OP should continue to hold the switch, since there is still the prospect that the price of this coin may return to the previous one.
The reason why it wont return that much is because it's definitely a less risky option than the coinwhich OP invested. if it could return that much that means the risk is higher which as you can see has happened to OP which is losing money due to the humongous risk. expecting 1000% return is honestly too much.

Although im not expert, i have some experience in holding some coins.
First you need to find out why the coin price keep falling. If it was because other investors sold them, its ok, but if it was because the team sold it, then you should dump it as well and look for other coins. Some investors might dump the coin because they think they found a better project.

Imagine when you can use your old funds to participated in the serum IEO and you can earn more than 20x instantly. This project is a very bad choice to be choosen as your long term investment and i hope you can try to re consider this project again.

The loss is huge and it is not the best time to quit after over 90% loss. If they continue to build and there is feedback to the community in a timely manner, things will surely turn-around somehow someday.

Investing in a coin that has dropped som much happens a lot in this space. In the case of the author, the amount of loss already might not be easily recovered except he is good at trading, because he might make a mistake that will result in drastic and an unbearable loss again. Since he has lost in a coin that is still being actively developed, he can still wait to see if there will be a recovery, although, it might not be as much as what he invested with, at least, he might be able to recover part of his fund.
I think you have to be careful when investing in coins whose prices are still cheap because it will provide a very high risk, one of the biggest risks is that you might get stuck at high prices and make you lose, so stay alert when you want to buy coins At a low price, make sure it has very good potential for example it has a very high demand.

Nobody could know if a coin would go up or down, so we can't say if you should throw that coin away or not neither, the only thing any "expert" can tell you is their own prediction but it is just that, a "prediction" so I do not think you should move according to anyone's ideas. If it was me I would personally wait for a coin that constantly gets development and bad value, that way I would know that it could potentially worth something one day if one of those developments actually make it to higher stage.

However I actually done something similar and in return I lost money, I was involved with Nano that constantly gets developed and the price plummeted and never really recovered. So in the long run I would say that you should probably focus on what you think about that specific coin and not type of that coin.

I am not into this coin so I don't know much, how active the team are and what they have in stock for their community. So, if you can check the platform to see if the team are really active, if the team really have things or rather good developments coming up then you can hold. But if they are no longer serious like the used to be and the community themselves, if they have lost interest then you can sell because once a community lose Interest in a project, it will only keep dumping unless the team do something fast about it.

You will be getting a lot of false hope from here. To be honest, most people over here are not "expert" but they try to act like one! So, don't take any of their suggestions seriously.
As for coins with continuous development but bad value, are you sure they are making progress or they are just "all talk, no work"? Value also depends on the supply and how they are being distributed. Do more analysis of the coins you have invested in and YOU decide if you should hold or sell it.

If you lost with it then your decision is not a wise move. A wise move will be to profit whether that certain project keeps on developing their platform or not.

You've lost a big amount already, it will be good if you will consider it as your bad experience in investing. You should always put a stop loss in every investment
that you will try to invest in so you can avoid lossing too much money from a single investment. It is not bad if you trust them as they continue to develop their project
but your decision is not a wise move knowing that you lost 2600$ from it.
