i think investors didn't leave the cryptocurrency world my friend
and i believe, they are wait for the right time to get in again in this industry,,
Investors will leave cryptocurrency if they don't see the favor unto them anymore. They will just abandon the ship and lose patience because it's new to them to see the crypto market's fall. They aren't the real enthusiasts that will come with the market whether it goes up or goes down.
exactly, most investors are only looking for profits so when they are in a deteriorating condition, they are abandoned, and for experienced investors they will stay in any condition because they can take advantage of the moment by making a profit. 
Investors will leave cryptocurrency if they don't see the favor unto them anymore. They will just abandon the ship and lose patience because it's new to them to see the crypto market's fall. They aren't the real enthusiasts that will come with the market whether it goes up or goes down.
Most of the new investors have lost hope and it seems they are fed up that why they are leaving but the true investors never quit since they know what they are into. How I wish someone could advise them to stay but I know for sure that they might come back strongly when the market recover.
Most investors are looking for a product that will solve a real problem and if they cannot find, they might just hibernate somewhere, but that does not mean they have left.
Some projects are ready to showcase what they have got, which is why I am not doubtful of their success. Some of which were able to reach their hardcap.

Just see the price at the end of 2017 and the price at the end of 2018 and you will have the answer to your first question, most people are not ready to accept those kind of risks and they are not willing to invest in the market anymore, can we earn the trust of investors again? Yes but it will take years, the decrease in the price we saw was a big deal and you cannot really expect people to just forget everything that happened after just a few months.1. i feel the main reason why most institutional investors are skeptical about cryptocurrency is because of its unregulated nature and the high rate of scam taking place. no rational investor would invest his money where he does not feel it is secure. for us to be able to attract large investors then we most accept some level of regulations to curb the fraudulent activities taking place in cryptocurrency.
Personally, the question of what with make people as interested as It happened with regards to year 2017 is for me a mystery.. Even the so called crypto experts can really point to anything as a driving factor for people to be convinced again.
2019 already started. I think, 2019 will good for crypto. all investor have a good chance to invest here. The market crash has made investors leave however this is not a bad thing persay. Many invested without a clue what they were investing in, hence the funding of terrible projects and scams which were actually detrimental to the who cryptocurrency ecosystem.
The question of future trust, however, is a much more difficult question to answer. Markets are generally cyclical and what I suspect is that we will see a future bounce back. How big the bounce, I dunno, but that depends on how much progress the already-funded projects make and also, what's on the horizon in the background.

Investors do not leave cryptocurrency business. They are still there and a lot of them. And they continue to invest in new projects, only these new projects rarely reach the ICO stage, they are bought up at the stages of private and preliminary sales.
Now investors have begun to act more prudently and have ceased to rush into all new projects because of the large number of scammers.
I don't think investors will leave the cryptocurrency, only left the ICO because most of them were frauds. I think investors now prefer coins other than ICO.
This market is really now not secured at all. Losses can be huge and this market is now considered to most fragile and volatile market and chances of recovery after dump is unexpected are reasons keeping the investors away to invest on crypto businesses. I think 2019 is the best year to invest in crypto, just like 2015 was. The price of BTC is driven by people greed, so when community feel FOMO the real action will begin.
