Hi all,

I have a question regarding the IOTA wallet.
I bought some IOTA in June or July, and transferred from the exchange to a wallet (I can't recall which version, but definitely before 2.4.0, and this was definitely before the snapshot in September). I haven't touched anything since then. What's the best process to transition/update?

1. Do I go through all the steps: download wallet 2.4.0 to transition, then 2.5 to reclaim?

OR

2. Simply download 2.5.6 and use that to transition/claim?

OR

3. Wait a few days/weeks for the team to finish the claim process, and hope they'll have something that will do everything at that point?

Any tips or advice? What are your thoughts CfB?

Thanks!

after rolling their own crypto I think IOTA have destroyed all their credibility in front of the technical people. Their only credibility is in front on noobs and technically illiterate people. No offence Smiley

No offence, of course, we don't expect non-cryptographers to get why own cryptographic primitive was justified.

Ever some coin will replace bitcoin in the first place. Why not IOTA? Especially if it will overcome some of technical difficulties.

Give my account back.

IOTA is meeting a big correction in the past days.
Will it hit ATH again at short time?

The most reputable tech group "MIT media lab" is destroying IOTA tech:

People not following their investment, thus missing publicized swap deadlines and now their coins are gone. Got it.
Anyways, I’m in. IOTA is the picture Andreas painted for me in his talks when I first got into crypto.

Their coins are not gone and will get returned soon. Check the updates in the #announcement on the Slack.

I note the release of yet another new wallet - and still no word of any form of help from anyone from the dev team who decided to "appropriate" IOTA in the form of a snapshot.

For all the FanBoi's here who are screaming support of this - wait until your IOTA dissapear in the next snapshot and see how great you feel about IOTA then.

Can you just imagine if you replace IOTA with Bitcoin, or Ethereum and the official story was that the Devs did a snapshot - They have your Bitcoin/Ethereum - and there is seemingly no way of getting them back - despite following what crappy instructions are put out.

New to iota, can you please tell me what you’re talking about?

The iota team changed their hashing algorithm in response to a critical security audit and people who were not closely following the project and didnt transition to the new algorithm got caught with their iota on addresses that were derived using the old algorithm. The dev team has promised to return these IOTA to their owners but have run into various hurdles that have pushed the time table back several times. That's about the long and short of it.

This is probably the news before Christmas David indicated. One should also follow before the turn of the year if I interpreted his mystery word correctly. Sill missing information about the South Korean visit of IOTA officials. Maybe a big deal with an Korean electronic giant?  Wink

Yeah, please do. I'm still holding my IOTAs on exchange as I have read numerous posts about wallet issues
