Why shouldn't exchanges just use IOTA? It is technically possible, so there is no reason to not use IOTA for kilo or mega.

cant wait to get my hands on it. Do you guys know what units will be used at exchanges, could it be Giga?

Very likely will be kilo or mega at most, Giga doenst make sense at all, too big

1 iota being worth less than 1 Satoshi would make trades impossible.

Sorry for being out of the loop, but are transfers confirmed irreversible yet?

the network is now live, but devs suggested to play around with test trasactions for now, and to wait until the official release on the 11th for regular and important transactions

It has worked great for me. I have already sent (and received) a couple of successful test transactions today (including in your direction Wink ).

It's great to see iota making huge progresses!

I like this version too - everything run good for me  Smiley

so if I have 100 IOTA, and I send someone 20 IOTA, could that person then determine my private key for that address and hack the remaining 80 IOTA?
I just want to know best practice from the get-go.

The software with GUI automatically sends change money to a new address after a transfer.

I was talking about a case when you, for example, accept donations. You can accept millions payments, but after you spend these iotas you should change your donation address.

Ok, thanks for the clarification. So the GUI will move change to a new address automatically, that sounds secure then.

thanks, so we have to use a new address for every transaction?

After you spent iotas from that address.

what are the security issues from reusing addresses? is it possible for an attacker to hack your seed if you reuse addresses?

he can guess the private key of the reused address

The issue with CPU dropping to zero is due to a deadlock. It should be fixed in the next version. For now, just restart the app if you notice java CPU is dropping to zero.
