@50cent_rapper:
Thanks a million, will check this shortly!

@runall:
Spot on!! Somehow I managed to completely forget about existence of that forum... Think thats because typically alcoin-specific forums are just dummy silent placeholders, by exception of few ones. This one seems to be moderately active though. Hope it contains some howto-like info. Will lookup there, thanks!

Sorry if this has already been asked and answered - the IOTA threads are pretty long and there are at least 3 of them (4 threads, actually, but the fourth one is is too unofficial and reminds me a battlefield, so I discard it  Grin).

I am one of those nasty guys who bought IOTA, but didn't connect on Ryver to participate. No time was available unfortunately. Sure, shame on me and all that... Grin

Anyway, I read lately someone run the IOTA client on the Intel Edison device, and this somehow triggered by curiosity towards IOTA software...
Here comes the question: is there a source code to look at and experiment a little (github..?), and how I can get it together with some instructions (howto) to play a bit with IOTA (in testnet sure) on my OrangePI (btw, it is tested on ARM devices)?

I know someone will immediately redirect me to Ryver... Please do not do that - I am not going to connect there. I just hate all the additional communication media. Forum and emails is well enough for me, and even that I feel is sometime too much for me. And BTW, Ryver GUI is very resource-hungry. I use 5 different devices to connect to Internet, and some of them just cannot handle the load created by its UI.

So is it possible to publish some technical details (source, instructions) here on the forum (preferably in the OP)?

drays, then maybe would forum.iotatoken.com an opportunity for you?

Yeah, I know superresistant, he's French and a cool guy. He knows plenty of things in crypto ; but I was surprised when he thought that the Bitcoin halving will have no impact on the price.

Many people think it's already priced in, but who knows. Usually Bitcoin does not do what is expected when it comes to price.

IOTA: Internet of Things Without the Blockchain?
There are many interesting projects taking place in the world of digital currency right now. IOTA is a project that will serve as a decentralized token for the Internet of Things ecosystem, built on top of “Tangle,” rather than a blockchain. The project looks very interesting, as the Internet of Things is becoming more popular all over the world. But how will this mix of connected devices and micropayments work exactly?

It is true. I cannot host a Bitcoin node myself. I only have a laptop with a SSD drive with limited space. Plus I cannot let the computer awake all the time.
I am thinking about building a dedicated machine as a node with the new Raspberry 3 but it is impossible to find right now.

PiHut claims they will fill their backorders in 3 days(March 7) - http://thepihut.com/pages/back-order-terms

superresistant, I have spent a couple hours going through your posts, because they are full of good crypto investment ideas Smiley

can this be minable in a next step like ethereum after the initial ico stage?

No, it violate security. Ethereum, by the way, has plans to go POS.

Interesting concept, where can I buy iotas?
drunk rant

Apologies for getting drunk and freaking out.
Despite the validity of my concern that's no way to behave and I am sorry.
I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the GUI guy has good news…

GUI ETA will be deduced late today as the UI dev finally responded again, so I'll know whether he has truly finished 80-90% of it, or if we have to just go with one of the two others we have lined up now.

As for when it'll be tradeable on exchanges: post-launch, so anywhere from 2-5 weeks most likely, this is hard to say atm. I'm in touch with several exchanges that covers USA, Europe and China, so this info will be released as it becomes relevant.

Thanks. Nice to know there's backup plans. Lets hope they wont be required.

Is there a rough estimate for when the GUI will be ready and also when IOTAs will be tradeable on an exchange?

Awesome concept, keep up the good work!

SCAM ATTEMPT

An IOTA community member (frederick213) just alerted me to the fact that there is a scammer by the name of lotatoken that attempts to fool people to a phishing site.

Quote from: lotatoken
Good day frederick213,

We have just reopened the official IOTA website and are now distributing the devs shares of IOTA.

Currently we have 15,000,000 Iota available at 1 Iota per 1350 Satoshis (min order 25,000)

We dont expect them to be availble very long considering the recent news -

http://collect.iotatoken.com/ <-----Scammer obviously link to another URL

Kind regards,

the IOTA team.
