Hello,
i'm a IOTA investor. We have paid for a job and you don't answer to our Project manager David Sønstebø.
If you do not reply with sufficient justifications I will be obliged to proceed through legal channels to protect my investment.
This is not the way to work, we are a very large community and we will not make life easy if you do not justify your delay.
Sincerely.
a very unhappy customer .

We probably should let David handle the business affairs. We need to be professional and trustworthy in term of business communication. At least get a green light from David before you send it out. Just my 2 cents.

Let's not lynch this guy after a week of delay.

Sorry guys if the terms legal can be too aggressive.

But my message is a personal message were i begin the message with "I am a IOTA investor", so is explicit is a message from an unhappy investor not a dev.

But if already 2 person have noticed "the aggression" i will delete the term "legal action" or the entire message...

Do i have to do that?

I wold like to help IOTA not the reverse!

Self-update can't be a part of Iota protocol. Iota just allows to fetch firmware code and rewrite it even without Internet.

Definitely. But it could be a part of "IOTA client" aka some SW piece which uses IOTA protocol, right?

I didn't fully get the second part though.. Assuming we are talking about newly released/updated firmware code..

Iota just allows to fetch firmware code and rewrite it even without Internet.
or
Iota just allows to fetch firmware code and rewrite it even without Internet.

I hope its the first one, otherwise I'm confused and/or need a lot of reading...

Guys, cool it with the threats.

Right, we should do it a-la crypto and place a bounty on Silk Road 4 (or what is the most recent number?)

Whats happening with the GUI at the moment? Is it being developed?

I personally expect GUI and beta this week.
Can anyone confirm this?

David via Ryver iota yesterday :

"David SonsteboTue 10:04pm
Alright finally Dan (GUI dev) responded. I won't waste time going into details here, but he claims he'll have a explanation and HOPEFULLY be done tomorrow. I am taking this with a mine of salt, but at least it's the first communication from him in a week"

"David SonsteboTue 10:45pm(edited)
Anyways we'll just have to see tomorrow, if he doesn't deliver I have a plan B"

cmon GUI dev - u can do it!

I know this kind of fuckers who disappear I hire one for website development. In 80% cases they appears after a week to say "I was ill but soon you'll get the job you paid for", then they answer to you every day: "it will be done in a few days", then they disappear to come back in a month and say: "Sorry I can't do it at all, take your money back"  Sad

Its hard to be serious after all CfB posts on this, but I'll try, especially as CfB told we this have to be started from the scratch Smiley

Just replying, because this is very close to my area of specialization.

IOTA client is just one part of the firmware of a IoT device.
Unlike enthusiast devices (like RPi2 you mentioned) most smaller (including IoT) professional devices update their firmware as a whole, without letting every single component to update itself. This ensures the inter-operability of all the components of the device firmware. If every single component software is updated independently, this could brake something and in unattended update of this kind is always a risk.

Many IoT devices do not self-update at all. The ones which do, have to have it implemented for the device firmware in general.

So though self-update *could be* a part of IOTA client reference implementation, but it is not a very needed/important feature to implement, especially at these stages.

This was long... After reading CfB short replies, I am ashamed to write more than two lines of text...  Grin

Self-update can't be a part of Iota protocol. Iota just allows to fetch firmware code and rewrite it even without Internet.

EDIT: I've just noticed "IOTA client is just one part of the firmware of a IoT device" part. My understanding of "IOTA-connected devices" is a device that sees Iota tangle (or part of it). "Iota-connected" makes special sense if we recall that Iota is designed for meshnets and currently used UDP protocol mimics meshnet behavior by making users to privately exchange node IPs/domains.

All IoT devices need a means of updating themselves.

Can/Could IOTA-connected devices self-update?

$5 per month for hosting a node?

Yes, why not.

a linux VPS month cost is about 1 euro on (www.aruba.com) so if i recharge 100% and ask also for unatantum 2 euro for the setup of the node  my special price for you is:

$4 per month

Those who care about incentives should read about altruism and its role in humankind evolution. Altruism is as old as greed, and one does not simply overcome patterns coded inside our genes.

This is one of the most valuable statements on this forum.
