XRP is definitely more popular than IOTA atm. Just look at their marketcap.

Personally, I feel that while we can have a lot of confidence in the success of Ripple as a business, given its connections with banks, the XRP currency isn't necessary for the success of Ripple, and furthermore its circulating supply is too high to deliver substantial growth. IOTA, on the other hand, I feel has the potential to grow exponentially.

I think you should but them both. I think they both good coins for trading. I think Ripple is better for short term holding and trading, but for long run I would bet on IOTA.
You need to buy both IOTA and ripple. It seems to me that both projects are worthy of being in your portfolio. But I have more confidence in ripple.
They have two different projects but with lightining launch bitcoin can give very big crash to Ripple, Iota has intresting project if they ll be sucesfull with project it ll be in top in coins.
I'd choose IOTA , simply because I do not believe and support ripple's centralised ideology . I hope ripple devs will sell all their tokens soon and this scam project will be closed 
if you really Intelligent can choose your choice of XRP because XRP already has a very strong foundation, the system is also very good and even I think the bitcoin system will be unrivaled with XRP system only if Bitcoin is now a lot of users because made assets or for trading

Don't forget that the Ripple fund is holding 55 billions out of total 99 billions XRP. Back in December they started to sell up to 1 billion each month. Also the creators hold billions of coins on their own. After the price surge Chris Larsen is wealthier than Mark Zuckerberg. It is just a question of time until he sells his stake. Same to other XRP billionaires like Brat Garlinghaus.

I will choose IOTA even im not impressed to its technology over a centralized coin like XRP,there is no way i will risk my money to the banker's hand.

For me, both are good coins to trade, but if you are looking for a long term investment IOTA is good. This is just my opinion this project is looking good, and in future, i think they will implement many new things in this project. XRP is still confusing some experts are saying it's not safe for a long term and some people are saying it is good. I have some coins I am using it for trading.
