Touchdown
I get that the higher bids are going to be filled first but at what point are those below IPO going to be filled? First in first out? If there are no bids for the total amount of shares at IPO or higher it means that those below get filled then?

The issuer has set the IPVO price of 0.003. So unless you find an investor who's willing to sell shares at below IPVO, I don't think those orders will be filled unless the price drops below IPVO price from open trading.
Could happen - someone commits BTC hoping for short term gain, price doesn't go anywhere for a couple of weeks so he sells. Someone picks up his shares at < IPO.

Why anyone is placing bids higher than IPO price right now is beyond my comprehension. Do they think that 6,000,000 shares are going to be bought up out of nowhere in the next hour? Sometimes I fear for the average Bitcoin Securities investor.

yeah, someone still has to explain me why bitfunder is so popular, I really don't get it
I don't get neither. Havelock and BTCT are way more comfortable to trade on. ASICMINER for example has twice as many shares on BTCT than on BitFunder.
Must be the pass through thing. But it is stupid since all shares are equal and TAT is managing them all.

It's all fun and games until somebody loses an eye
please do more on btctc

If you were not paying attention, the number on each exchange is determined by the number of shares bid on each exchange. So if you want more shares to be put on btct, all you have to do is put up more bids on btct. The power is in your hands (if you have the money).

So 300,000 shares will be released on BTCT.co, and we already have over 800,000 bids.

So what happens? The top 300,000 bids get filled?

That 800,000 bids includes over 500,000 bids which are below the IPO price. When the IPO happens, the bids at or above 0.003 will be filled.

If you wonder why people would bid below the IPO price, consider that there will be several million shares sold when the IPO starts, but nobody knows whether the other millions of shares needed to complete the IPO will be sold, or how long that may take. If the sales slow down, some investors might want to get their money back instead of waiting for November to roll around and the IPO declared a failure. So I put in some bids below the IPO price because I can be more patient than those people.

As to why people use BitFunder, I use it for a few specific assets which I wanted to invest in and are not listed on other exchanges. For NEOBEE I will be using btct, I like them better since BitFunder does not have an API, they do not have a facility for voting, and they do not give emails when my orders are filled.

It's popular in the instance of this IPO because the underlying asset is on BitFunder and the other two exchanges will serve as pass throughs.

As to *why* they chose BitFunder, I don't know. It's a piece of crap compared to BTCT and Havelock. BTCT really takes the cake I would say.

I believe it was mentioned that all the 'virtual' talk on BTCT served as a deterrent.

So? Use BTC-TC. Or Havelock. They will be filled according to the bids. I agree on BitFunder, especially on WeExchange - it is a pain to make it work, and when it decides to not work anymore, support does not reply.
