Of course not, you really are a newbie, there are threads that explained this already, ever heard of bitcoin volatility? Those flunctuation in bitcoin price are inevitable, that is how bitcoin goes, it is how the system works, sometimes the price is high, that is when you should sell and when the price dive to low, that is when you should invest or buy. The downfall you are seeing now is actually an opportunity to buy more bitcoin. After it rebounded, that is you chance to earn more. Do not panic by those downfall.

Personally i think it will og up a lot. Who knows, in the future it can of course "crash", but i dont see that coming any time soon. 4th quarter of 17 there was a great adoption, before the whales sold and people panic sold. Thats what happens everytime. Right now there has been alot of bad news, and FUD, but when it has stabilized, like maybe it has now, the upswing will start again, and the whales will have doubled their portfolio. Then the bullride starts and the price will skyrocket once more.

Welcome to bitcoin. It's start of the year and it's a timing that you have seen and witnessed the quick big dump. But it doesn't mean that this year will be the biggest downfall to bitcoin. People who started bitcoin on 2013 witnessed that year's big dumped too and they told that's the biggest disaster happened to bitcoin but after that scenario everything went well, bitcoin literally fly to the moon. By telling "just believe in bitcoin" will not be enough for a newbie like you but this is normal, you'll see a quick rise too.

I think so. The downfall because of the issue in south korea makes bitcoin correction is the most down ever.
I hope starting now bitcoin and other cryptocurrency will recover again like last year so we can still have profit.

it is not an old technology that has been around for years to now be out of date. it is the brand new technology that has come here to start replacing some old systems.
and right now it is doing just that. but in this route there will be a lot of bumps on the road.

Fluctuations of bitcoin is really a normal things in crypto world if you will just checked the price history. Recently i searched the price history and every start of the year and at the end of the year always goes on a positive side. Right now value is unpredictable, but soon it will be at its peak again.

On the contrary, it seems like a good start for the year to me. The mempool is getting empty, fees are getting low again, Lightning network is around the corner. I couldn't be more optimistic.

Yeah usually this is the norm in a market place were price go down in the start of year, but  I have foreseen a that in the next few months BTC will pump up even more higher that you ever seen this year, crypto currency market will be more aggressive this year because of last year success even though there  are short coming but in general it was a huge success.    

I think it's not. Bitcoin is volatile and we all know that. It is normal for bitcoin to increase and decrease it's value. We must be patient for there is a right time for everything. There is a right season to pick the fruits of our hard work. Let's not lose hope even if the value of bitcoin is going down now, it'll surprise us again soon.

I don't think like that, so far bitcoin price still at $11,000 and the lowest price just reaches $9000 after that the price goes up again. You should have to see the growth bitcoin price from day to day, week to week, month to month and year to year bitcoin prices are very volatile you need to understood that. It's too early to say 2018 bitcoin will downfall, and I feel that's a situation that will not happen.

In 2017 ,this year is a very impressive year with many memorable milestones  for Bitcoin and virtual currency. Bitcoin has become a "super-profitable" investment and traded futures.

In 2018, Bitcoin is expected to continue to see new developments. One of the issues that is not inconvenience for investors is that bitcoin trading now taking too much time and costs. Meanwhile, some other coins like Litecoin or Bitcoin cash overcome this disadvantage. 2018 is predicted the continuous developing the rise of virtual currencies such as Litecoin, Ripple, Bitcoin cash ... beside traditional Bitcoin.

Every year starting all the markets are down for example gold, dollar etc. But cryptocurrency is affected in some trading issues in two countries so majority of the investors are jump to some other altcoins so Bitcoin value is down in the market. This is just simple issues so everything is solve in few more weeks. In 2018 also Bitcoin is raise in the market so all the investors are hold your Bitcoin.

As a newbie, you have to decide what are you in this for. Are you in it for the technology? Are you in it for the socio-political impact? Are you in it for the economic impact? Or are you in it for free money! you have to decide for yourself whether you want to believe in Bitcoin as a long term thing or just something you want to 10X your money from. The 10X isn't happening anytime soon (or it may!)

The market value of bitcoin has increased many folds but that doesn't mean it will continue minting money for everybody. At its core, its a technology that needs work to establish the new scaled mechanisms for payments, like the Lightning Network.
Here, as usual,  Bitcoin is leading from the front while others continue to try to manage the market in order to pump their coin in the name of "widespread adoption"

In my opinion, for the time being, other marketed coins like Bcash will continue to try and scavenge off of Bitcoin's development, Banks and Governments will keep trying to meddle and control while we will have another small bunch of people trying to understand the tech, its limitations and possibilities, work for it and become a part of this ecosystem.

In the short to medium term, the speed and transaction-fee issues will be solved and the good fight shall continue.

Its just a correction, a healthy correction if you're going to look at the yearly chart bitcoin falls every 1st month of the year and after Chinese New Year i think it will increase so hold on into your coins because they will pump very hard! i suggest to buy more until it reverse upward. right now we may see a pump and dump price of bitcoin.

I do not think so, if earlier this year bitcoin fluctuated so drastically that it makes people like you think that the year 2018 is the fall of bitcoin so I suggest you to see the bitcoin history from year to year from there might get an answer from your fears .
Bitcoin is the best coin today and for the future so I'm sure bitcoin will not be that easy to fall without a huge cause.
Bitcoin is a large coin that is not large with instant but many obstacles that make this bitcoin has a big name.

are you sure of what you are saying, because bitcoin has has a yealry uprise in price since its inception, and mostly it looks like this in the beginning of the year. You'll be suprised to see the price in some days ahead. Bitcoin has come to stay and BTC will forever rise, it's just about time
