Bitcoin is real for a lot of people including myself since I spend fiat money, which is real money for me, to purchase this currency to use it as real money.
So yes, it is just as real to me as the fiat I use to buy it with.

Personally it is real money, of course if you can trade only 1 bitcoin for real good and even for 400 Fiat money.

So bitcoin really has grown as a real currency in my opinion.

I do see bitcoin more as a investment and not as to shop or gamble with because the value can go so much higher.

But with paper money people do a lot of dumb stuff do (Casino, Booze, Sports)

There can no doubt as to if bitcoin is real money. Since you can use it to purhase items it means it has purchasing power.
The availability of bitcoin and acceptance by many vendors makes money to the masses.

There's a consistent theme that I see popping up on here that I find rather fascinating, and that is the way that many posters perceive BTC.

What do I mean? People doing things with BTC that they'd never, ever dream of doing with their dollars - gambling as an 'investment', or gambling at all, pouring coins into bullshit investment schemes run by totally anonymous showers of shit, lending on here to shambolic morons, asking the question 'where do I get free coins?'

Considering how much of a pain up the arse it can be to obtain coins and keep them safe and their future potential, I find it bizarre that there's such an extreme disconnect. I would've thought it should be at the opposite end of the scale but that's clearly not the case for many.

Why do you think this attitude has developed and where do you stand yourself?

Greed.

For me is real money, although not yet sufficiently accepted so you must convert BTC in fiat to buy some staff. But there are many ways to spend BTC online and with time BTC has a great chance to become a very popular currency.

Well as long as it can be use for purchase things , I can categorize bitcoin as real money. Still the different is we can hold with our hand.
IMO, bitcoin provide more security against crime attempt since if the theft did not own private key, our "digital money" can't be stolen

it's not a real money, bitcoin is only "digital money" , i think real money is something where you can use it for "real trading" and you can hold it with "real hand" ......

If you can use it to do trading and other people accept it, then it's real money for me.

That's right, besides, you can't convert it to dollar if it has no value or it has no worth to be converted and exchanged into dollars..  Smiley

it is hard to consider bitcoin as real money when sometimes you have to wait half an hour to get a confirmation on a transaction so that you can be sure you have received the money (bitcoin)!
lol if you send fiat money by post. and it takes 1-4 days. it is longer than the confirmation bitcoin, would you say that fiat money is not real money? is only analogy
