I think your main aim is to introduce your child to crypto. Why cant you start with a blockchain game?
There are many games out there that pay you out in crypto for playing those games without investing anything.
Try out this one https://play.alienworlds.io/. You just need a wax wallet to start .
Your child will like it and you will also get a passive income. Alienworlds token TLM is already listed in binance.
Check here to see its current rate - https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/alien-worlds/

For what purpose may I know?

It is not dogecoin only, even when you chooss bitcoin to teach here you may have to the purpose. An example for investment purpose, but I don't think the kid of 8 years old will understand how investment purpose is. Also, if you teach her for transaction tool purpose I don't think she will understand it as well since the fiat transaction is quite enough for here.

I am thinking to teach my 8 yr old daughter about crypto. But past history riddled with illicit activity so I was thinking to open her a just dogecoin wallet and have her to learn to use it. Do you think it is suitable? Anyone done this? Or any risk?

Thanks.,
for me if you are 8 years old already understand about technology it is okay to teach crypto, especially doge. My advice is to give understanding to your children slowly and then give them according to their portions

^ In what way your daughter will use it?
If that Dogecoin you gave to use in gambling, that is very bad and very risky but if you will teach her how to doggy to hold the Dogecoin for the future intention, then I would say, that is fine. But my question is, why you did not also introduce BTC as well, this is also a good investment when she becomes at the right age that can be used in the future. If you bought it within a hundred bucks, in the future it could be a million dollars.
Nevertheless, any crypto is suitable for kids and they should understand, but 8 years old is too much young for them to understand those things, just buy and hold just for them.

It's very good in a start and there is no risk, you can teach her also about Bitcoin and others , after one year you have a 3rd hand. highly appreciated

Dont see any risk as long you do able to explain to him on what it is all about.Explain the pros and the cons because even we do talk Bitcoin on here there are still some problems that your daughter would able to read on thats why explain to her everything so that he would be aware on what are the things is happening and she would know on how she would deal with it.Its actually good that at very young age you are already
aware with these kind of tech and the benefits that it can give and even myself would really be considering on teaching it into my sons and daughter once i do have one.  Wink
Its just good to see that they can make use and benefit when and do know the importance of decentralization.

it is very suitable for introduction to small children especially those who later live in a digital age,
early recognition is very good, maybe I will also try to get to know it to my child.
If it is very useful, it will not be wrong to introduce it to our own children or children for the sake of their future independence, because the times are growing and digital technology will always dominate the world in various ways.

Why specifically dogecoin? Why not teach her about all types of coins and wallets? It'll make her more interested in crypto and as she's in her growth years, it'll be great for you if you can teach her about crypto from her current age. Make her understand the basics first like what is Blockchain, because without telling her about the network on which everything runs, you can't just start talking about crypto. It's like teaching about trains directly without even talking about tracks and electricity / diesel.

Sure there's nothing wrong with that as long as you teach everything and he completely understands everything like for example knowing the risk of this kind of investment.

But I guess you could start in bitcoin or Ethereum, unlike dogecoin which has a higher risk and most people do not consider it as an investment because it doesn't have utility.

It will be difficult to completely understand this kind of stuff, especially for an 8years old child because they just don't have enough experience and knowledge about how investments or money works but I agree that it's better to teach your children about this kind of stuff while he's still a child.

Teaching about crypto for children aged 8 years, is not wrong. It would be nice that what you teach is the basic basics of crypto. I think it's more in theory. So that he has knowledge, not just about business.

Let's be real. How easy is access to illicit markets for a children who will probably only own a few bucks in crypto? "Safety" depends on how much the kid's activity is controlled. If you give him the onion version of Google and $10k in crypto, don't expect them to purchase Barbie dolls off the deep web or to find cartoons over there.

As long as you give them the right education, about any crypto is suitable for such lessons. The advantage of some coins like DOGE is that you have to pay little fees for txs, so you can show multiple things to your child.

I think that there's nothing wrong with doge that would be unsafe for a kid, and it's more like a general question of how much an 8-year old can understand about money and with how much money a child can be entrusted. Banks don't allow kids to have accounts. In my country there are "junior cards" which have limitations and which parents are informed about, but I think even those start at 14. So maybe giving her a little doge (like, $10 worth of it or less) is okay to teach about responsibility, but this should go with telling about the basics: don't share your password with anyone apart from your parents; don't send money to anyone who is asking for it and/or promising something for it; ask when in doubt.

Withj doge, you're just gonna teach her that stupid stuff may sometimes go viral, especially if supported by egocentric billionaires

In my opinion, the problem is not with Dogecoin, but with electronic influences that are not suitable for 8 year olds. We should be able to reduce the use of electronics in low-age children. If you insist on teaching it, then the first thing that happens is the effect on the eyes, then what he thinks about is not learning, but money. So that he will not learn maximally when he grows up, but more likely to learn about money.

I'm just considering the act of introducing dogecoin to my siblings. It seems like a good startup strategy for them to get used to the cryptocurrency market. The value of dogecoin is fast increasing and it would give them an idea of the possibilities in this industry. I'm certainly going to get to it and hopefully we'll have more cryptocurrency enthusiast in the family.

Yes, it is one of the good idea if you can open a dogecoin account for your kid and transfer some dogecoin to her. Since the price of dogecoin is cheap, even if she loses that money, it won't hurt you much. Secondly, she will get to know about crypto and it will help her a lot in the future.

I can't see the risk on it. But if you're going to teach your daughter about Dogecoin, I think it's better if you will also include bitcoin with your teachings.
That's a good idea if you will teach her those two cryptos that you prefer. I haven't done it but I think you should be fine doing it.

It's suitable and why not? You can use a small amount of doge to give education to your daughter. I was also educating my brother with doge coin too.
I see no risk as long as you were using a small amount of doge coin. Elon was also using doge for educational purposes to his baby.  Grin
