Gambling is not the only hobby which costs us money. There are people who play the Lotto, that also can get expensive and the chances of actually being in the green are slim the more lottos you buy. There are also people who smoke cigarettes. That is also expensive and not only does it drain your bank account but its bad for your lungs long term.

There are people whois hobby can be racing cars. They spend tons of money on the vehicle, modifications, gasoline, track day fees, etc and all they do is drive it in a circle, go nowhere and get nothing out of it other than fun.

This is similar to how gambling is to most people. You do it for fun. But when you are gambling to the point where you keep your bank account empty or you are borrowing money to gamble, then its a problem and considered an addiction instead of a hobby.

A lot of people are finding it difficult to understand the big difference between hobby and habits, gambling can be a habit but can't be a hobby.

The big difference is, hobbies are things one do at leisure to which he or she derived joy from and does it for fun and not for monetary gains but habits can be anything done on a regular basis which can become an addiction after several practices. so if one keeps gambling it because a habit and from habit it becomes an addiction but not hobby, one can chose to change hobby at any time but you can't change habit short period of time, there are similar but have difference. so gambling can never be a hobby anyone saying gambling is their hobby is either ignorant or does want to admit the bitter truth.

A hobby is what a person does in their spare time for fun and entertainment. Hobbies are driven not by the need to make money but simply to enjoy and fill free time. On the other hand, habits are activities that are carried out regularly and repeatedly, which can cause addiction. For example, a gambling habit can easily turn into an insatiable need that is difficult to control due to the overwhelming desire for financial gain.

A hobby is an activity undertaken for pleasure or relaxation in one's free time, not primarily as a means of making money; therefore, gambling cannot be considered a hobby. A person who views gambling as a recreational activity may be unaware of the fact that they are entering a dangerous world that can lead to addiction, or they may even refuse to acknowledge this reality. The art of making money from gambling is not due to luck or chance but rather the result of special skills; so, people who consider gambling as a hobby may not really know what they are doing.

And It is true that a person can decide to switch hobbies at any time, but changing habits, especially those that have turned into addictions, requires more time and dedication.

First of all I will like to define hobby in my own understanding. Something that one like to do always either for pleasure, leisure or entertainment. And example of hobbies which I know. Swimming which can be a game as well, reading which can also be a competition as " reading competition", and anything competition is a game, and sport. Sport can be someone hobby if the person love sports and like to partake in it. And that means something you partake that you have leisure and pleasure can be your hobby.
Hobbies are activities done regularly in one's leisure time for pleasure and relaxation rather than for monetary gain. So I think that's the point of view that user is trying to drive from, because since gambling is for monetary gain, it's disqualified base on the real definition of what hobby is, example, such as swimming, reading, cooking e.t.c

To me I just understand that gambling is a habit that you can develop with time and it’s done to addiction. Well so many people can also see gambling as a hobby because some people is always happy when they are gambling do they don’t gamble with much amount of money, the gamble with some small and they always see it as a fun to them so they don’t feel like gambling is a bad habit. That is just the truth about the whole analysis do my own understanding is how I feel about gambling.
it’s all about self-control and discipline, and then there can be no talk of addiction. I think younger people are prone to problems from gambling because their character and worldview have not yet been strongly formed. But for the older public, addiction can hardly be obtained this way how there is much less free time and the game can be like a hobby during breaks from other things. At least in my environment, this is the situation.

I believe that gambling can be called a hobby, but when this hobby does not cross the boundaries. We are all players in our way. And even here on the forum, everyone who wants to increase their rank has a passion for the speed of receiving merit. What can we say about everything else that accompanies us in life? We want to be winners. And this is normal for every person.
However, when the passion for the game begins to fill all the thoughts of a person who has only one desire to play, it turns into a disease.
We should always make sure that our hobbies are in moderation.
I don't consider gambling as a hobby regardless of what other people think, gambling to me is a game, nothing more.
Every gambling game has risks and the risks posed will of course be very bad if the gambler no longer plays with good self-control. It's really awkward to call gambling a hobby, this is not a real game like gamers who consider games as a hobby.

Many gamblers use various methods to fulfill their desire to gamble, these are those who are too addicted to something. They end up worse off financially, maybe even mentally when the addiction gets too heavy. In my opinion, gambling is not a hobby.

People that doesn't understand the logics of gamble are affected by gamble, when a gambler bets it's either he loss or win. So this present days most people who made gamble as their hobby are gradually becoming addicted. However gamble is a hobby for those that will gamble responsibile. Gambler who made gamble their hobby won't be sad when they lose.

Gambling can be a habit but at a later stage because the main reason for starting gambling is either for fun or entertainment which is known as a hobby or it is started as an addiction but later when there is no other way of earning and a gambler thinks gambling as a must then it can be a habit.

Not everyone is considering gambling as a bad habit and in many countries there are no limitations on gambling so everyone can freely participate in gambling but here gambling is considered as a bad thing so if someone is a part of gambling then he does not show it in public.

Sure, its possible, but its a slippery slope.  Exciting games and wins are intoxicating. What started as a hobby can rapidly become a habit and spiral out of control. I've seen the best of them cave to the casino. Its psychological game goes beyond money. Narrow misses and the potential of a big win keep you hooked.

Gamblers arent all addicts. Hobbies and addiction can be blurred. Being moderate and self-aware is key. Keep it casual, set limitations, and leave when you're ahead, and it may stay a hobby. Please reconsider if you're chasing losses, disregarding your commitments, or always worrying about the next bet.
If they can control their gambling activities while they use gambling as a hobby, they can still use gambling but they must have strong self control to do that. We knows that gambling can tempts us without stops and that is why we must have strong self control to prevents the temptation becomes bigger. We don't knows how long we can holds ourselves from the temptation so we must not playing gambling too long to prevents lose control. When gamblers win, they can gets tempts so strong because their greediness will becomes bigger and wants to gets more money and if they can hold themselves, they will not stops themselves from playing gambling. That is why we don't have to make gambling as a hobby because many other things that we can use as a hobby. We must prevents the lose not to becomes big by not using gambling as a hobby.

Gambling is a hobby I think of it, rich people usually play gambling very fun. This game is so pleasant that people take it with pleasure, so it should be avoided from becoming an addiction, because gambling gives people pleasure if it is done regularly for a short period of time. And many suffer from this gambling if he becomes addicted because when a person becomes addicted to gambling then he will face losses. Gambling is generally accepted by people willingly and for fun.

Gambling is indeed a fun activity and usually rich people use it as a hobby because it is a fun activity, but for poor people gambling cannot be a hobby because it is too dangerous for them because they will experience a lot of losses and usually poor people use it as a way to make money. Gambling can be a fun activity for poor people if they win a lot but in fact gambling is not like that and most people get emotional when they lose, but for rich people winning or losing has become normal because they consider it a fun activity or a hobby.

When someone makes it a hobby and gambles every day it will make someone addicted to gambling. Gambling should not be used every day because it will be very dangerous for those who have difficulty controlling themselves and end up losing the finances they have because of continuous gambling. Gambling is fun but we shouldn't. being involved in gambling, I myself don't consider gambling a hobby because I describe a hobby as not something that involves spending a lot of money on gambling. When I'm tired, I prefer to play with more positive activities.

The thing is, as much as you enjoy it and you're not disregarding the life that you have right now then gambling is serving you good. But if you see it, as a fulfillment of life then you're doing it wrong. Just treat it like a hobby. Not a job because it would put you a stress. Not as an addiction because it will take away your life from your family or career. Just play it like how you play your guitar ono your past time. And maybe, you get some jackpot some times or even just penny win. As long as you enjoy it.

Gambling as a hobby have caused a stressful argument in this thread. Lots of people think that doing it as a hobby could be detrimental to the player's financial status, while some actually admit that gambling should be a hobby. Whatever it is a gambler is doing he is meant to moderate his actions. Gambling hobbyists tend to enjoy the game especially those who gamble with lesser amount of money. And don't seek to play each day because it's their hobby. Not every player who sees it as a hobby probably understands the risks of not getting it right.

We all know that our hobby doesn't stress us or affects in any way a we wish to gamble. It means he can play anytime due to the way he loves gambling. But, that will be a huge trouble for the player if he begin to participate in gambling this way, because it's his hobby. Gambling problem doesn't know any hobbyist that doesn't respect the responsible rules of gambling. He'll find himself in trouble, which could pin him in this gambling lifestyle for a long period.

A hobby is something you like doing. Some people just like to gamble. Gambling can be a hobby. You are right. But someone that see gambling as a hobby should be very careful and avoid addiction because as some people are thinking it is a hobby, they are getting addicted and wasting money unnecessary on gambling.

Well, gambling should be treated as a hobby or a fun activity but in reality, most people take gambling as a serious business. They will want to make money out of it, run their kitchen expense with gambling and more importantly they put their all money just to take risk and earn money.
Gambling is not an investment that always give you returns. Yes, sometimes you will get some good returns but other times you will face losses.

Unlike other business you will never know why you got loss and you never know the timing of winning or losing in gambling, as it all depends upon the luck. Having entertainment from gambling is a separate thing and having an Income from gambling is altogether a different thing. Due to uncertain outcomes and unpredictable results, it is better to limit gambling to hobby online and not make a source of income.

Correct.
Just recently, I lost some funds on a gambling site that offers local currency as a deposit. I was so shocked that 160 times on a 96 percent RTP bet, I never won a good thing. That kind of losing streak never happened to me. After it depleted my balance I said to myself I won't be back and I never did come back for casino games for a day. I went back to sports betting instead and found peace in it.
It's truly stressful if you are expecting something from it. I expected at least a good win like x5 - x10 of multiplier before they rekt me but none happened.
We cannot treat it as a job because it is not, there's never a winner everyday unless you are playing skill-based games like poker against another human player where you could dominate them.

Well said. Gambling is not programmed for us to win, it is business oriented and as such  casinos will devise means to implore for them to be at an edge over gamblers.
Anything done during leisure time which is pleasurable is termed Hobby, so if anyone engages in to that way it is hobby for him, but we need to understand the  implications of gambling excessive and possible Addiction problems. In essence self discipline, moderation and limits should be incorporated.

Yeah, there are several persons who take gambling as a hobby. And that doesn't necessarily mean they are irresponsible in their gambling life, as long as a gambler knows what he's doing he can gamble for long without making any decisions that will affect his finance. In fact people can just come together and play gamble together and catch some fun without necessarily going to a casino hall or officials table games. Most persons use gambling as a means to catch fun during the get together party or meetings. Gamble doesn't have to be a game with a bad reputation, it only depend on how the gambler expresses himself through gambling.
