Gambling is actually not good as a hobby or anything like that, but it is much better when gambling is used for fun or to fill the void in your free time. In fact, many people make gambling their hobby to waste money, if the hobby is turned into a competition.  So there's nothing wrong if you make gambling a hobby, but don't get carried away with gambling, there will definitely be differences in playing for competition or wasting money and of course there will be different tricks.
Everyone is of course different in determining their views in assessing whether this is a hobby or not. I agree with what you said that gambling should not be made into a hobby. I think someone who is a hobby is already addicted to gambling. If we take part in a competition, of course the context is different, it cannot be said to be a hobby either, it is an opportunity for them because competitions are not always held all the time and when you register you put a lot of money into this, if we compete we have to focus on beating every opponent we face, and we will see the players will show off their games which are quite interesting and the prizes are much bigger than when we play as usual.
Well, for example, we can play cards on Saturdays with friends as a hobby? It’s quite possible that if you play for symbolic amounts, then there shouldn’t be any problems. There should be a line in everything and clear, agreed rules, and then there definitely shouldn’t be any problems. For gamblers, Those who have problems with self-control should definitely not consider gambling as a hobby.

Yes of course, because I think that's the more plausible reason why society has a negative stigma or viewpoint towards gambling activities which is all caused by gamblers who treat their gambling activities blindly which makes them experience many adverse effects. And honestly I just heard about the idea that gambling is included in the hobby group, and I believe that one of the reasons why this idea is rarely heard or rarely people say that gambling is a hobby is because this activity is not worth the reward, or in the sense that the risks are always far greater than the positive rewards.

On the other hand, yes what you said is true that the attitude or point of view of society can be bad when knowing that the person is a gambler or involved in gambling, and maybe I would say one of the reasons why society has such a bad point of view towards gamblers, which is because usually gamblers often spread problems or invite people who have a socialization relationship with them to experience problems, especially in terms of money, as evidence it often happens that a gambler always tries to borrow money from people closest to him but they are irresponsible and do not pay their debts.

Losers are hated, right? Gambling creates many. Its a catastrophe for families and bank accounts. Dont throw out the baby with the bathwater. Smart gamblers I know. Like a business, a game. They set boundaries, leave while they're ahead, and dont let it control them. This is self-control and discipline. Thats key.

Gambling isnt sensible for most. Its unsafe. Some take a calculated risk and enjoy the excitement. People need to learn the difference between ethical gaming and chasing losses. Help them win and control it, not allow it dominate them. Change story, perspective. Not everyone hates gambling. When done well, it may be fun and profitable. Ensure everyone knows the game rules.

When I gamble I don't care about making money. I only enjoy gambling games at that time.  Like watching sports, watching movies, playing indoor outdoor games is also my hobby

The truth is that is the idea, and it is very good that you already have that way of seeing the game, not everyone reaches that level of wisdom and I say wisdom because in most cases, greed makes one lose one's temper and give oneself over to the game based on impulses and emotions, to reach such maturity, well yes, it is natural that throughout our learning we have had many failures, and I am not ashamed to say that my balance is still negative , if I start to do a great analysis and recover all my game, the balance is very negative to the positive balance, but I learned that each game session is a session where you should play without thinking that you have to recover or that in the previous session you lost or something like that, because that stress scares away luck.

I believe that the actions or mood of a gambler has nothing to do with whether your gambling session will be successful or not. It all depends on the algorithms of incentives. No matter how you do not try to attract or scare away luck you are unlikely to succeed. Play gambling is not for the sake of winning, but for the process and the emotions that accompany it. Learn to properly manage your money and then you can spend on gambling as much money as you want. Greed and attempts to win back their past losses have no place in the head of a responsible gambler.

In my opinion, if we talk strictly about the concept of “hobby,” there is still a difference between such hobbies as collecting stamps or baseball cards and such hobbies as gambling.  This difference still manifests itself in relation to your passion for gambling.  If previously unknown people find out that you are interested in collecting stamps, and this is your hobby, then the attitude towards such a hobby is still more favorable than if these people find out that your hobby is gambling.  In the second case, strangers immediately develop some negativity towards this hobby of yours simply because gambling has long been classified as a wicked hobby.
By the way, all this must be taken into account when you tell strangers about your hobbies.
Those hobbies is different than gambling because when we spends our money to buy stamps or baseball cards, we have the physical thing that we can save in the album. We can also sells the stamps or baseball cards or exchanges with other fans with the other things. We can gets something from what we collects so that still gives benefits to us.

But when we use gambling as a hobby, we spends the money to playing gambling but we don't have a big chance to wins the money. We will loses that money in gambling while we can't recover our lost in gambling so that can makes us bankrupt if we don't have self control and use limitation when playing gambling. We must not use gambling as a hobby because that can gives us a big problem that we never imagine so it will better if we use gambling for have fun.

In my opinion, in terms of distinguishing or comparing whether gambling is a hobby or a hobby or not, I think it really depends on each person's point of view, but in simple terms maybe I would say from my point of view that gambling activities can indeed be as a hobby for someone but this is a very expensive and dangerous hobby, in the sense that when a hobby is like collecting stamps or baseball cards it means you have to spend money to buy the item but if you spend the money once you will definitely be able to get the item but in gambling you can spend much more money without getting anything.

This means that it can still be used as a hobby but with the caveat that it must be done with great care because there are very significant risks that can make us experience various bad impacts in life as we can see from what is experienced by gamblers who already addicted. And on the other hand, as you said, when we publish or tell other people that our hobby is gambling then maybe this information can trigger problems because overall gambling usually has a very negative stigma in the eyes of society which is caused by the large number of addicted gamblers who experience bad effects.
You are probably right that it was the fairly large number of addicted gamblers at the stage of the disease that served to create the public perception of gambling as a vicious and even harmful human hobby.  Probably in the public consciousness this hobby, or hobby, as discussed in this topic, can be conditionally placed in the middle between a hobby such as collecting stamps and a vice such as alcoholism or drug addiction.  In terms of the degree of denial, this hobby is certainly not as serious as alcoholism, but it still has a negative connotation in the public consciousness.  This automatically applies to gambling players.
People's attitude towards a person may even change for the worse when they find out that a person has such a hobby as gambling.  This is definitely unpleasant and offensive to players.  But this is the way it is in almost all countries of the world.  Even where gambling is a local tradition.

It's true that basically everyone has a different view, but by making gambling a hobby, I think more people will have a different view. Because in my opinion it can be agreed that gambling as a hobby is another word for addiction, it's just that maybe they hide their addiction by saying it is a hobby that is done for fun, however I think it is unlikely that they will feel pleasure by making gambling a hobby. because the pleasure of gambling can be said to lie in winning, whereas those who make gambling a hobby are not certain to be able to win often, even if it feels difficult.

making gambling as a hobby will not be completely successful because it will only make us lose a certain amount of money frequently. It's better to gamble naturally, because by making it a hobby, of course it can make us do it frequently. The more often you gamble, the more often you will lose.

That is right but when they use gambling as a hobby, they must thinks about the effects that they can gets from gambling. As playing gambling can gives them lose much money and the addiction, they must have a way to controls themselves so they will not lose that much money and still aware of playing gambling to avoids the addiction.

Not many people can wins from gambling so they must realizes about that and not using too much money to playing gambling. If they can control themselves when playing gambling, their risks to becomes addicted to gambling will not too big as they can holds themselves from playing gambling excessively. They will playing gambling for fun and can gives them relaxation and also peace of minds like you. But if they thinks that gambling can makes them gets deeper, they don't have to playing gambling and search for the other activities which will not makes them lose money.

Sometimes when gaming gets to me in this manner that doesn't allow me enough time to handle other activities, avoiding the casino would be my best choice.

I think one of the things that are most effective for us is sometimes to stop playing if we see that it is consuming too much of our time and we stop doing priority activities, but personally I have always said that when we need to make a readjustment of our life, if we must restart, that means giving the game a stop to be able to reflect and not stop doing our priority things, in this type of things we must see that now the most important thing is our integral and mental health, if we see that the game consumes us of everything, as much money as many, laziness does not mean laziness as many see it, resting is giving us that time to reflect and that is what does good.

A gambler can be tagged a lazy person when he's not able to break free from spending too many times in gambling. Have never found it easy for a player to joggle both his gambling and work activities. Most gamblers are undergoing lots of dilemma on ways to control their excessive gambling habit, but to zero avail. As it's beyond their ability to quench the steadily occuring thoughts of participating in gambling. Most players could be able to end their gambling troubles themselves, yet not all can successfully do this without a helper. Your statement on the player's mental health is the first thought for every gambler to go into and avoid being affected mentally by gambling and related activities.

People have different hobbies among which gambling is one of them. Not everyone can profit from gambling and not everyone can withdraw money but it forces gamblers to deposit money regularly, it happens because of some hobby and some because of addiction. I consider that when things get out of control they will never be a hobby or anything fun , Especially because what is lost is money and that is already something delicate, therefore when we decide to do things right we must have great money management so as not to lose it completely, fun at the casino can depend on ourselves, we can play once or twice a Week , but we should still make reasonable bets and not something that harms us, if we play every day the most probable thing is that we will have an impressive money leak, then it is not something profitable , I would not say that it is a hobby, I would define it as adult fun.
Even if the hobby turns addictive, it still doesn't stop the fact that it's a hobby, it only stops been a hobby when we no longer do it for leisure or fun but for the sole purpose of making money, at that point it's no longer a hobby but an extra job for an extra income, also known as a job on the side. Even with an addictive habit, a hobby remains one only that at they point, it may be gradually turning into a harmful practice that may have some negative effects on the gambler and  in the long run becomes a problem for those who are around him too aswell.

Upon all those sources and explanation, I still need the community input on the argument to know if gambling is a HOBBY so that I and the person will understand more.
Cheers.
A hobby is an activity that brings pleasure, if you search online articles there is nothing or I didn't find that anyone considers gambling to be a hobby, but it is also said that developments in the times can change or make activities that were previously not considered hobbies become hobbies, so gambling could be considered as a hobby, especially there are gamblers who only gamble for fun, but I would not consider gambling as a hobby because this is an activity that can cause losses if done without clear boundaries.

However, if there are gamblers who consider their gambling activities as a hobby, of course, that is not wrong because they definitely have reasons for considering gambling as a hobby, for example, other forms of hobbies will also cost money, as well gambling, but hopefully not as a form of justifying themselves so that people closest to him can accept his love of gambling.

Nope, in my view gambling is a style of life rather than a hobby. True and abstracted gamblers will bet on everything even on tomorrow's whether and it doesn't matter with whom and where. They are  gambling in the sake of process which is part of their psychologic life. I'm not in their class. For me personally gambling is a kinf of  "hash-time"  session when spending  my leisure time.
Gambling can be considered anything, depending on how we view it. You can consider it as "life style" or "style of life" for yourself, but you can't generalize it. Not sure what you mean by "true gamblers" or "abstracted gamblers", but it isn't likely as a lifestyle if a gambler bets on everything and do it carelessly. IMO, it is just the way of wasting money with gambling if a gambler does it in that way. I think you need another example if you want to describe it as a "life style".  Wink

I'm also a bit similar as you. I just bet when I've free time (spare time). I'm not a typical gambler who push all my funds in a single day. I've an allocation for gambling daily, weekly, or even monthly. I'm not a part of those gamblers who can spend all my funds because of chasing the wins or trying to recover losses. When I have a bad day and get some losses, I'll stop it earlier in that day and return again tomorrow.

I would like to note that I often also come across a stereotypical perception by other people of the fact that I love casinos, betting and poker. They immediately start looking at me as if I could go and lose my entire salary in one go. But it's not like that!
And I strictly observe money management, I am proud that I have never been to tilt. I didn't break my computer mouse on the table when the opponent at the poker table got the best cards. And the like.
But "gambler" is like a label for a bad person, that's what others think.
It is absolutely certain that when your new acquaintances find out that you are fond of gambling, even if you are a completely reasonable gambler who never allows yourself to spend more than the permissible limit of money, you will still be labeled as a gambler.  This almost always has a negative connotation.

This is especially true when a person is applying for a new job, when the employer begins to find out the employee’s work history and his views on life and attitudes (and now, thanks to social networks, this has become easy to do and employers naturally actively take advantage of this).  So, a passion for gambling and the label “gambler” may well serve as grounds for refusal to hire a new job.  Although the employer, of course, will not tell the job applicant directly about this.

          -   Gambling can really become a hobby in my opinion as long as it is not a vice because it is a different matter when talking about gambling addiction. It means that there is a developed disease in a gambler. But if it's just a hobby, it's fine because you don't have a gambling addiction.

But when it comes to the point where a large amount of money is lost often in a week and you do it more than 3x, it can't be considered a hobby in my opinion but rather a vice or addiction that a gambler already has.
basically a hobby is something that is done for pleasure, apart from that I don't think anyone is happy with losing money but gambling losing money is a certain thing, with those who make gambling a hobby I doubt they will always be ready to lose money, of course every now and then they feel unwilling to lose their money gambling and that can make them lose control which makes them able to take big risky actions such as allocating an unusual amount of money such as allocating a larger amount of money than usual, and after that What will happen in my opinion is clear is that they will experience a gambling addiction which will be difficult to stop, I don't imagine gambling becoming a hobby because I think it's better not to take risks.

Apart from that, I think those who make gambling as a hobby can be said to be billionaires who have a lot of money so they don't hesitate to gamble even with high stakes, but even though they have a lot of money, I don't think that means they can gamble as a hobby, because it will only drain their finances, what's more, having a lot of money will give them more freedom to gamble. It's best to look for another hobby that has clearer and more visible benefits. Even though there may be people who insist that yes, that's fine, because it's everyone's right, just don't regret it in the end.
