As you said, only the gambler's behaviour will decide the effects of gambling in his own life. But overall we can see many gamblers are getting their lives wrecked by gambling because of playing it for long time. Many gamblers lost their all the wealth just due to gambling.

Indeed, it all depends on the gambler because its the gamblers decision to do gambling, and if he did not gamble responsibly then it will end up wrecking his life. In life we make decision by our own choice and we don't need to blame others or an establishment for our failure, we should already see that gambling is risky and this is only for entertainment.
