The definition of gambling is entertainment, and entertainment is not a sin. It will depend on the effect of such gambler's life. It's like bitcoin, bitcoin can be use for illegal activities yet we cannot call bitcoin is for illegal activities and should be prohibited, the action of a user is what makes it a sin IMO.

It is not a sin. Unless you did it or use it in a wrong way ,mangy gamblers i think did a sin when they are greedy and some of them tends to said lie just to make money to borrow and tge worst to steal money .In the quotations Money is the root of all evil ,so many people are too greedy to earn big money thats why gambling becomes a sin.

It's only a sin if you do it in excess just like drinking or eating too much. If you don't let it affect your ability to support yourself or your family and don't get addicted to it, it shouldn't be a problem.
Correct. Gambling too much can be considered as a sin, just like you drink too much beer and carelessly cause an accident. Do not let it happens. Try to control yourself and reduce the time you spend for gambling is the good way to reject this sin.

It is like with everything. It takes balance. Too much in the wrong direction can be considered a sin. So we need to tilt it more towards the opposite side. Then we can have balance. Too much of anything can be sinful if not taken in moderation.

Gambling is not at all a sin, because we won't be stealing or involving into some hacking tricks to acquire someone's money. We are just risking our own hard earnings to make an earning. For this reason I believe gambling is not sin, but when a user without having a job and completely depend on gambling and losses all his wealth then sure gambling is a sin.
It's not really a sin because gambling is just a game which really built for entertaintment and you are right we risk our money to earn money and that's we usually do when we are gambling. It's not illegal though the time time it would be a sin when you already commit bad moves which compromises yourself and your family.

That is a sin for some religious people with their belief. But for me, it is a game that falls into sinning. Because if you are not able to control yourself and you are going to get addicted with it. Then that will make you commit a sin, once you are already addicted. Then that will make you a very greedy person and you won't think about other things but winning.

Gambling is not a sin but its frown upon because it does not help the individual to develop at all and it foments in people the possibility of becoming addicted and even have self destructing behaviors.

Yes, Gambling is not a sin, The reason why some people think it is because it has a lot of risks that already happened and is even happening until now to various people (The risks are already stated above)  .

Just use gambling in moderation and you will be good .  The only people who knows ourselves very well is non other than ourselves also so you should know when to stop .

No. I don't consider it as one.

Mainly because I think of sin as "an act that harms others". Or more specifically, knowingly doing something that would harm or
have a negative effect on others. Be it loved ones or total strangers.

Gambling in itself, is only a form of entertainment. A way to relax. Abuse or excessive gambling on the other hand, is a sin.
Moderation and control is key. We know there are always consequences for every decision we make, but even though we may be prepaid to accept the consequence, if we know that  others will also be affected, and we still do it, then that is a sin.

Anyway, I barely remember what the 10 commandments are, but, I know when I commit a sin because I can feel it.

I agree with you but many gamblers mostly in casino they usually making a sin when they're gambling and endup on losing. they will gonna do everything just to get back they're money that's why there's a lot of high reputation group on casino usually dont mess with them because they gonna fvck you up when you get through with their way.
In fact it is a matter of religion, in some religion gambling is consider as sin as in Islam, gambling is sin at all for everyone and if someone still continue gambling then he is committing sin. While in some religion and countries gambling is only forbidden for less than 18 years of age and the rest of the people can play gambling.

That's true mate.. Too much gambling also will make you greedy because of the hunger for money. And once you let yourself into greed definitely it will make you sin. Greed is a one of the 7 deadliest sin in our religion.. so better control yourself when you gamble.

what do you mean don't get on their way ? is it mean that don't play gambling when they're your opponent ? thats ridiculous. so what am i gonna do just play roulettes ? hahaha. best way to go on casino go and join in a large group where they gonna split their winning to each other. many groups doing this especially in casino but. what ever im just playing gambling through gambling sites and on my house  Wink

May I ask what you two mean by groups in casino? Is this for like, poker/tournaments/collusion? Things like that? Or do they play on their own and split their winnings at the end of the day? ( Grin )

Sorry, I must admit this is the first time I've heard about large groups that split their winnings. I know this may be a bit off-topic but could you please elucidate? I am on the forum almost everyday and this is the first I've heard of this. Thank You.

For me its not a sin because I see it as a way to multiply my money and in the process I am ready to lose the ones I have with me. And I don't see anything wrong in trying to make more money. I take risks and I am responsible for such even religion gives room for common sense and I am applying mine to decide that gambling is not sin.
Basically you are completely wrong with respect to your idea on gambling. Gambling never will multiply your money. So, gambling will never make you rich instead of you will come poor very soon.
That is the reason, at least through religion way to protect ourselves our ancestors taught gambling as a sin. Gambling may kill your happy life, health and wealth. So, it must be a sin.

How can it be sin?

because gambling can lead to addiction, and when you have an addiction, you can do things that are bad such as being greedy, arrogant, and can justify any means in order to gamble like stealing, cheating etc. Gambling can lead to bad things.

I agree with you, gambling could only be called a sin when you already got addicted into it, as you said many bad things that would surely happen if you got addicted to it. Gambling game is just for entertainment but if you let it control you then its really hard to  get out that's why we should remember when we do gambling we must aware on the risk might happen, just be on yourself and control your greediness and have must strong self awareness.
