Sincerely, the number of projects I've bought doesn't mean so much to me as the quantity I've of those project's tokens. I prefer concentrating on few pairs and then buy heavily of those tokens. I tend to look at it from the angle of narrowing down my options and then buy huge numbers of the selected tokens. Quantity means a whole lot. Just imagine what quantity does once price begins to rise. Many pairs with few quantities won't do that. For OP's option, I will pick the first option.

my argument for having Sandbox and Mana is because I cannot say for sure which project will explode and which not. Both have the potential.

I never want to buy more altcoins, because 12 altcoins is a lot like the second option you mentioned. because to manage and find the latest information about the altcoins that we have takes a lot of time, so don't waste your time with the many altcoins that we have. so choose only 1 - 5 altcoins for short and medium term investment.

but are those altcoins very risky and need to be checked every day? i dont think so, pretty much all of them are solid coins that wont die tomorrow. only coin that is not top #100 is KEEP.

Successful investing revolves not around large profits, but around minimal risks. And minimal risks in your investment portfolio can only be achieved through portfolio diversification. That is, you should not invest in only 2-4 projects, although it may be attractive in terms of profits, but you should still put the safety of your funds in first place. Therefore, in the context of your choice, I would recommend you option 2.

Lets say you had to spend 12.000 USD,

would you go for option 1 or option 2?
Whilst every investor would have their preference, personally i would go for 1 or 2 coins at most, the thing is this, many investors believe in just diversifying their portfolio blindly, they are of the view that as long as you aren't 'putting all your eggs in one basket' then there is a high possibility of profits, but that is not correct. There are quite a lot of shitcoins in the network, and even if you invest in all of them at once, you'll run at a loss in the long run. I believe in the Bitcoin network because it has utility, is a long term project, and for many other obvious reasons, thus if i had all of that sum, i would invest a large chunk of it in the Bitcoin network, and the remaining in ethereum cause i am impressed with how well eth has done down the years, and amongst altcoins, it looks more or less like the only long term sustainable project.

but my aim is to get max profit in 1 year and i doubt that BTC is a good coin for shortterm profit. How likely will BTC 2x in 1 year and how likely will a coin like SAND 2x in year?

As for me, I will prioritize quality over quantity. It would be better to hold a few coins that have a hood potential and strong foundation than to hold multiple coins without assurance of development in the future. Knowing the capability of a coin is still a thing that we have to consider.

as you might already know investing in many various altcoins although could definitely decrease the risk of losing your investment could also decrease the chance of you making some great return of investment because as you know if some of the altcoins that you just invested are having great bullrun surely your money that you just invested in that specific altcoins gonna be significantly less than just investing in fewer investment options.
if you think that having only 5 investment altcoins are already suffice with your risk management you should just simply choose fewer altcoin investment because as you know youre more likely making some great return, also if there are many altcoins that you just  invested but most of them are some low quality altcoins anyway then no difference, better off sticking with fewer high quality altcoins.

The only question is do you wanna earn huge or small profit margin from your investment?

I want to keep it exactly for 1 year and cashout with max profit

Lets say you had to spend 12.000 USD,

would you go for option 1 or option 2?

option 1: 2.400 USD each coin = 12.000 USD total

Ethereum
Avalanche (AVAX)
Polygon (MATIC)
Chiliz (CHZ)
Enjin (ENJ)

option 2: 1.000 USD each coin = 12.000 USD total

Ethereum (ETH)
Solana (SOL)
Avalanche (AVAX)
Shiba Inu (SHIBA)
Polygon (MATIC)
Cosmos (ATOM)
Decentraland (MANA)
The Sandbox (SAND)
Gala (GALA)
Chiliz (CHZ)
Enjin (ENJ)
Keep network (KEEP)

Well, I remembered that there are a lot of the members here in the forum told us that. we should never put our eggs in one basket where it must be spread out so that we have a lot of reservation to recover our loss if everthis incident happens to us. But in fairness almost the majority of your coins  has a potential to hold in the long term.

but this diversifying is bad when theres a bear trend because all crypto is falling proportionally to each other so spreading your investment will just make your losses more because you can't get out all of them at once compared if you have a single coin or a few coins in your basket that's easy to watch during the bear season.
Isn't it good to put in money during the bear market since we can buy them at a really discounted price?  OP said he is to hold it for a year or something like that, so OP isn't selling his stuff as soon as he bought it.  Besides the majority of the coins/token he chose have somehow good community/supporters behind them.

yes, i want to sell those coins after 1 year (in Germany winnings from crypto are tax-free after 1 year hodl), so it is rather a shortterm-midterm approach (thats why i skip BTC)
Ok,  I hope you get a good profit from them  Smiley.

Diversifying crypto assets is good during start of Bullrun to increase your chance to enter on the coin that will give high chance of profit but this diversifying is bad when theres a bear trend because all crypto is falling proportionally to each other so spreading your investment will just make your losses more because you can't get out all of them at once compared if you have a single coin or a few coins in your basket that's easy to watch during the bear season. I will go for option 1 base on the current condition of crypto market.

Eloncoin.org - Mars, here we come!
I will choose Option 2
Quote
option 2: 1.000 USD each coin = 12.000 USD total

These all 12 coins are new and their volume is low. Therebis high chances in future that one of these coins will show potential like Etherium.
I think 13 coins which have potential to rise is better than 5 which already goes big. Cosmos is one of the top I think will rise in future

Diversification is good, especially in investment.  But one thing in question is, can you keep yourself updated with all those numbers of investments you had?  I don't think that the number of coins you wanted to invest is important here, what more important is your personal limitation on the number of investment updates you can accommodate.  It is not up to us whether you need to invest on 5 or 12+ coins, it is up to you and your limitations in researching for all necessary updates and absorbing information.

does my 2nd list include many shitcoins?

I think its quite similar to my 1st list in terms of solid and risky investments.

I think your 2nd list is quite good, but I wonder why aren't you investing in Bitcoin?  Are you up for a short, or medium-term investment?  If you are for a long term investment, adding Bitcoin to the list will do you a very good deal.

I'd just choose option 1 OP. But it doesn't mean I'll all of them, I'd just choose that option because of its number, not on the list. Why? Coz I don't think that having multiple coins to invest is a good idea, unlike if you only have 5 different coins could be easy for you to manage.
I even just have only 4 different coins in my wallet, BTC, ETH, Sol, Shiba Inu( new), in fact, I sold my BNB for Shiba Inu.

We have to be smart upon choosing coins for investment, even having  10, 20 coins don't guarantee a huge profit, and it is much better to have those coins I've mentioned above in huge amount rather than splitting to shitcoins.
