Can I choose both? I think invest for long term in Ethereum and Bitcoin are give me a huge profits in future, especially this is a target for 5 years, not short term. Of course, you need to know the risk of this target, nothing guarantees these cryptocurrencies will have high price in next 5 years.

As you are saying for next 5 years means long term, i will prefer bitcoin over Ethereum because it is much reliable than ethereum and we should consider most reliable one if we are going to invest for long term.

Investing in both of them at the same time is more wiser and less risky than just one of them. Bitcoin has gone so far that it requires not much worth investing as compared to ethereum but my major problem is that Bitcoin fluctuation is the major factor that move ethereum to both positive and negative trend over time. So, I will advise you to invest in both Bitcoin and ethereum.

well said. bitcoin value after 5 years would be much huge than eth, bitcoin already gaining more people who's learning the currency and start investing their money so if time would be the basis for sure bitcoin will still got a good position for our investment.

ethereum is also good currency people are shifting their funds from other coins to the ethereum. i will still hold bitcoin for the future as i am looking bitcoin as the highest price rate in the coming years. if we say about the nest five years there will be many booms comes and some time the value become very less but the hope is still keep in mind to get successful in the future.

Speaking about 1 or 2 years investment period I would definitely say Bitcoin. While, five years is a long term for the crypto industry, many things will change in five years, but I would still make it 70/30 in favour of Bitcoin.

Very wise for me continue to hold hold btc rather than eth. Although eth is very booming alt with etherdelta to invite alot tokens to grow inside. I feel more confident to make big profit in the future with btc.

I think its wise to invest in bitcoin because it gives wonderful future and it has a good future and most trusted than ethereum. Bitcoin is more popular in over the world because it gives profit to the people. I invest more wise in bitcoin because it can be all above at same time, and the best performing currency than ethereum and best investment because its value goes up every year. Bitcoin price is continue to increasing and it gives more opportunity to the people and investors.

Invest more in bitcoin than ethereum. Bitcoin will always generate a great profit. If you want to invest on altcoins buy some promising coin such as Dash, Waves and others.

I feel like Ethereum does not deserve to hold 20% of bitcoin's market captilization and most of it is generated from hype. Bitcoin has some hype as well(of course), but i think it is safe to say that the product bitcoin is offering is just more mature right now.

If there are any chances for crypto mass adoption in the next 5 years, people will come rushing to bitcoin, not ETH.

Well, everyone has their way of viewing things. For me, I will say invest into bitcoin and wait for that 5 years and you will have a good profit. Investing into ETH is good too, but the margin between them will be high.
In a practical aspect, invest of them both with 50% on each and see what you get by the end of the year.

Well you can buy some alts that are really promising but it seems that you have some trust issues with altcoins so I just leave it with you. But if you want to buy some alts someday it will be good and of course bitcoin, the greatest investment of all time and nothing can beat it.

I think there is nothing wrong of choosing these type of technology since both gives us good profits in return. Although there are some significant technical differences between the two, the most important distinction to note is that bitcoin and ethereum differ substantially in purpose and capability.

This +1000. The current price of ETH makes zero sense, much less any higher rise in the future.

I challenge one person, just one, ANY one on this thread, to outline Ethereum's long term business model that would make any sense to benefit the end user.

I guarantee that not only will it not make sense, but I can destroy any attempt at a verbalized viable business model in about 5 seconds.

Ethereum is a shitshow.

I keep a half piece of eth just to be able to collect free airdrop tokens and to be familiar with its concept/see how it works.

There is no way eth can handle these infinite amounts of new tokens popping every second. It is going to blow up at some point.

To send/trade tokens you need to own eth, to pay the network fee. They call it "gas". This is the thing what makes everybody to hold a little eth at least.

Second, I tried to trade some tokens and somehow i found myself at ether delta. That's very crazy but they actually asked my private keys so they can see my wallet balance and transfer its balance to ether delta so i can make trades.

That's fucking nuts. Crazy. Unprofessional. Insecure.

I handled my priv keys to them since the amount i hold is so little and i dont worry about them being stolen and everybody was doing so, i guess.

If i was holding eth as much as my bitcoins (dollarwise) I would never ever give my private keys to any goddamn website while i was connected to the internet.

Even My ether wallet has an option for us to recover wallets by entering the private keys. Wtf? Do people actually write down their priv keys in a website while they are connected to the internet? Wew. No wonder forums are filled with ethereum users got hacked crying out loud.

Stay away from eth.

always invest in bitcoin i do trade little by little but i will never hold any altcoin for more than a year bitcoin has always been the best never buy any altcoin for long tern you will regret it later always hold as much as bitcoin you can

Lots of people have talked technicals (what seems to be "going up", price movements, etc), so I'm gonna talk fundamentals for a bit.

BTC is still the king as far as "what can you buy with it" and "how hard is it to 51% attack", and network effects mean that those advantages are hard to overcome.

However, Ethereum seems much better at getting technical improvements pushed through. Features continue to be added, bugs continue to be fixed, etc, without much drama, even when it requires a breaking change. Bitcoin, lately, has not been so good at that (18 months between the HKC and SegWit getting enabled, with multiple forks along the way); it's harder for me to be certain that, five years from now, we will see much progress on the longstanding bugs/issues that weren't fixed by SegWit.

So long story made short? Even though I've previously held only BTC as my cryptocoin of choice, I'm considering rebalancing into a 70%-30% split based on the above.

Yes, with bitcoin we have been gaining more profit and the growth keeps continuing with minor as well large scale fluctuations. With bitcoin what's required is the patience to hold as well a good fiat backing as the price seems high. With ethereum the price is affordable and has growth taking place at certain time interval.
