No, it is not risky at all because there are still some decent coins with a small cap which have a good potential to get a high price in future.
As my experience has shown, it is better to buy coins not only from the top one hundred, but to buy only from the top ten. My investment portfolio literally melted before my eyes.
What do you mean that it melted? The investments are okay till the person cashes the coin out to another currency.
In my own opinion it is not risky not to buy top 100 coin on CMC because not all of the top 100 coin will make it to the future
It is one of the rules in investing to only invest in top 100 or top 10 to be more precise since new coming coins are risky in their potential to run when the project succeeds.

I prefer to buy coins not from a top - 100. These projects have more opportunities for strong growth if they are perspective. But for me not essentially in what part of rating there is a project which has interested me. The main thing that the project looked perspective in the future.

In principle, there are some risks in the cryptocurrency market like in any other one. There are lots of interesting projects that haven’t been included in the Top-100 of the coinmarketcap yet. You can make a good X-profit on these projects, if you understand how to do it, but you can lose in the opposite case.
I don't know, on the one hand it is risky and on the other hand those crytpos out of top 100 can grow 10-100x time and become top 100!

Investing other than top 100 crypto currency is a huge risk. But don't forget standard crypto investing is including a risk too. So this decision is yours. To take a huge risk or a low level risk.

It all depends on the project and it does not matter where it is located. Well, yes if you chose a bad project. Yes, and at the end of the list. Then it's just your fault.
The risk is always there and you don’t need to forget about it, they very often talk about it here, I hope that it will be used for the right goals and it will still be a very good decision to still confidently follow the road of the investor.
in my opinion, any coin is unstable. whether it be top 100 or not. at the end of 2017, the prices were high. today the price is much less.
It's not risky if the crypto has a good background. But many not top 100 tokens are garbage as I think.
Maybe they are garbag lack of investors for their project and wasting money for it. Because some people own for their project they not telling the truth for the outcome of their project so this is the main purpose also.

That will be depend on the fundamental of the project, if that coins has strong team member, that coin has potential to give better profit than top 10 coins. Just like ECA coin that offer about 100 x profit last year, because this coin has low market cap but has strong fundamental.
I think it's like a lottery, you can't try not to know. After all, everything can be exactly the opposite. For example, coins are not included in the top 100, and they are actually promising, but not noticed by anyone. And in the future, they can bring just a cosmic profit. Or it could be the other way around, they won't bring you anything. Here you will not guess and only in time you will check it.
