School is not a scam for me. School doesn't necessarily mean that you have to get a work from your University degree. School is important for self realization and actualization. Moreover gone are the days we rely on government to provide jobs for us. We can create jobs for ourselves.
Going to school with the sole aim of coming out and getting a better job is not worth it, before a person can get a better job by the qualification of his certificate is by the earnest grace of God if not all is based on the connection, Man - Know - Man, even with the person not qualified for the job opportunity.

School helps to shapen our lives not just on that field of our study alone that is the reason we have borrowed courses, it helps spread our knowledge around from economics, politics, philosophy and many money also to help us in our social lives as well.

School is a scam for a time waster. People make the mistake of thinking that they only go to school for the academic knowledge, but in reality school involvement  boils down to much more than that. In school, we learn friendly interaction and the ability to survive together with others, School Has a lot of social, business and other interpersonal skills to offer for a serious minded person, You can learn a very expensive skill at a much cheaper rate from a fellow students. School helps shape our attitude  towards fitting in properly in the society.

Alot of persons don't know this and that's why they tag this term of school being scam as it purpose whereas the basic and original concept is far from that. Many people learn what shape their life's at school outside the original academy career they went their for, and besides the school environment is one big community and we all know what the community is about, because it's a place where social interaction and practices are career out so actually terming school as scam is also likewise saying our entire social community is a scam.

School is not scam. But we should not depend on government to provide job for us. We should try all possible means to look for ways to earn money.

I’ve come across a master degree holder pushing wheelbarrow in the market just to survive.
I do not believe this. There are better jobs that a master degree holder will see immediately in Nigeria. Although, it will be underemployed, but far better than pushing wheelbarrow that uneducated people are the one doing.

Have you gone to the market? I can bet you that 30% of people you see in the market are graduates. In Nigeria there’s a saying that says “man know man” this is normal used in most companies you see in Nigeria, before get a job you most be able to know at least one person in the Authority before you’ll be able to get the job
When I was much younger, I was doing my assignment chemistry assignment, when a guy talked to my gate pushing wheelbarrow with my dad’s items on it then the guy quoted some laws in chemistry of which I was surprised and amazed. He told me about his story on how he finished university and finished his masters and no job for him to do.

My opinion on this is that school Is actually not a scam to some extent though.

You might ask me why I added the "to some extent"
well now most of us would agree that going to school at an early age would teach you the basics you need to know like how to write, read and also do certain activities like presentations.

But when we talk about the higher institutions, then maybe it is a scam because in Nigeria here most schools do not actually teach what would be of benefit to the students they only ask for tuition fees and the rest

And another thing is to know the country general status about the kind of service that would easy provide job opportunities before going to pick them as a course to study in the university

Example: it would be difficult to be an animal doctor here in Nigeria.

Education is never a scam even though you ends up not establishing in ligns of what you studied there in school.
Benefits of education is not just securing professional jobs but offers the the diverse knowledges to literarily rapport, associates and contributes meaning opinions at the edges around the edges you finds yourself.
Education would nurture you on how to privately comport yourself meaningfully in and outside the societies

School is jokingly called "Marahadum" in my local dialect which means know it all, your being in school is an opportunity to gain knowledge without borders, both good and bad and places the decision on which path to follow in your hands. Its the first place for you to take responsibilities for all your actions and decisions if you've previously been leaning on people.

In conclusion, school is very good and I discourage all these negative mindsets towards school, although its not a bed of roses, with the right mindset, you'll see that there's a lot to benefit, not only from the academics, but from the  people resources in the school if you're not distracted thoroughly by the frivolities it presents

Bro school have never been a scam and will never be. You do not find a job after graduation doesn't make it a scam, how can you interact well in this forum if you are a stack illiterate.
The high rate of child birth in the country have make it very difficult to get a very good job because there are hundreds of people of the same educational level vying for the same job, so my brother school can never be a scam, we as individual just have to depend less on the government for jobs and look for a way to make our lives better.

After school or when you graduate from the university after paying all the fees in the school, you came hlout and spend another one year to go and serve di nation again and after all that you came back to your family house and thinking what to do to survive and sometimes, the work you will see sef you no go use your certificate and it road side work and your certificate is just like a wasted one.

And because of all those things making people to say that *school na Scam ", and if you look from afar you go know say school na Scam but when you have understood the purpose of school then school is not a scam because it guide you what to say and do.

School can never be a scam. Although our government has failed us when it comes to employment after schooling but job opportunities isn't the only reason why we go to school. School is our second home and is there to teach us morals, culture, build our thinking ability and many more. You can't compare how an educated person will think with an illiterate unless the person is an educated illiterate.

Here in Nigeria, we normally use this term “las las school na scam”. Now the question is (is school really a scam)
Many people in Nigeria after spending six years in junior and senior secondary and four to six years In the university we end not doing what we studied in school. I’ve come across a master degree holder pushing wheelbarrow in the market just to survive.
I know the main reason why people go to school is for them to graduate and get a job to take care of themselves, but currently in this country, getting a job is just kind of difficult, and some people who are successful are leaving their field of study to join other fields. That’s why most people do say school is a scam. But when you are educated, you also get exposed. There are some opportunities that you will be able to utilise quickly compared to someone who’s not educated.

Some people are on the forum learning about bitcoin, and they are still earning on the forum here. Anyone who is not educated can’t really be on the forum here, but because all of us are educated, even though some of us might be unemployed and some that are employed might not really be paid well, most of us are earning from the forum and we are surviving, without education, we won’t be on the forum here earning.

Above all governments should should job opportunities for people to work that way Nigeria can or may be a great Nation
If you are waiting for government work, then you are just wasting your time. It’s better when you are in school, you learn a skill, and then after graduating, you can be able to establish yourself. With the current situation of Nigeria, the government can’t get everyone a job. Just imagine the total graduates universities alone are providing every year, we have polytechnics and others. How will all of us be able to get a well-paying government job?

My answer to this question for 1 billion time na be say, NO school no be scam. Normally we all know how tins be for this country and outside country sef, job opportunities dey limited no mean say na waste we go waste our time for school. Like one post for local board here wey dey talk about if the knowledge wey we get for school dey help or not. E dey help well well, because for school, if you think say na just the certificate be your aim that means you dey very wrong. School dey teach us many life lessons wey we nor dey even consider too important sef. Let me explain

If you ready say you wan get good grade, the only wey na to study, even when you feel tired or sleepy provided say you get target you gats study. And that na so life be, even if e dey against our will we gats hustle to put food for table. The discipline wey we learn to read even when we no feel like to read, that one sef dey follow us from school dey enter our motivation to do some kinds things wey body no move us to do. For example, taking work serious  even if e dey stressful. I nor fit explain finish but school teaches a lot.

School na scam is a slangs from the pit of hell, used to discourage educated people who has no job after graduating from higher institutions. It is use to make mockery of educated people and also make them look inferior in the society. Reason is because they where no oppotuned to attend to the level you are.

Illiteracy is a big disease which is often written in the face of men. Illiterates is always identified by the atitude. They are alway at the back whenever it comes to anything public speaking, signing of documents, reading of article maybe in churches or schools or in social gathering. They always have one excuses ore the other just to scale through the process. Sometimes in the bank they will be the first to come and be the last to go due to inability to fill form and being ashamed of asking their fellow to help them. Sometimes they pass the bostop where they want to stop because of inability to spot the difference between welcome from goodbye in a signpost and it will require additional money to return back after they have passed due to ignourant. Educated person is alway a traveller and a socialist but illiterates cant. They even miss some opportunities in they society like local government Work or state due to the inability to comprehend educationally.

So school is not scam. As a Matter of fact whoever says school na scam has already scam him/herself.

The reason why most Nigerians use that slang 'las las school na scam' it's because we have many graduates out there that are into businesses that are related to what they studied in the University.Concerning the job opportunities government should create, the jobs are there but the employees are few.It is said that the society we are is all about connection.

Have seen several topics like this in the local board and there's no need asking same question when you already know the answer, school is not a scam and I don't know who sang that song saying school na scam, when you're referring to school I believe you're talking about the higher institution. Not everyone can afford to pay school fees that's why they stay at home and if you have the money to further your education then you should do it, if someone else graduate and no job no mean say you sef no go find job, grace differs so I don't understand why people still fool themselves this modern world, so you're trying to say all the graduates in Nigeria are unemployed some are government workers but very rare, school no be scam ohh, even the job creation we are praying for in Nigeria, if the job come e go reach your side cause the employment system now na man know man so I will advice not to focus on government jobs only, many things dey wey require knowledge and you can still benefit.

School can never be a scam. The problem we have is that most people that go to school always have this mindset that a job is waiting for them, why not have the mindset that you will use your degree to create job instead. Some graduate are so proud and lazy to do anything rather than wait for white collar without trying to use their degree to create a job for themselves.

If you want to know if school is a scam or not, then I think the first thing to ask yourself is, would you have been able to join a forum like this and type averagely well in English if you hadn't gone through schooling?.

And let's assume for example, that there was a local board on this forum where users can type in their native language, would you, as an uneducated person be able to type your own native language so as to effectively communicate with other users?

"School na scam" Is a slag that originated from yahoo boys, internet fraudsters and those who do ritual for money in the name of doing yahoo, things that come from such people aren't ever to be taken seriously, you take such things as "school na scam" serious at your own peril.

Even if I went to school and end up not getting a job, or a job that befits my level of schooling, the fact I can read, write and speak good English is already a enough benefit for going to school, for with this, I can make it, and even create jobs for other people, we must not always wait for the government to create jobs.

Like my mom always say “go to school and hold your papers”. You may finish school but find it hard to see a benefiting work to do. You may still finish school and see work to do.
i don't quite like this thought process about going to school and I feel that the major reason why most persons come out of school and become frustrated at life is because most of them have this kind of mindset that going to school is basically all about acquiring the paper certificate and then presenting it to gain employment. And this is the major reason why we have loads of first class graduate that can't even defend their certificate.

The certificate is a testament that certify that you have gained mastery at a certain subject matter and that you are fit to practice such in wherever you are required to do so. But the big question is whether you are certified to do so or not.

The main point I have always loved to point out about this whole schooling something and the lack of job issue is that their is first of all no where it was written in your admission letter that upon completion of your four or five year program, you would be given employment and so it's always wise that while going to school, you should always have it at the back of your mind that no one is employing your service and so you should think more of creating something for yourself after school.

Even if you are going to get employed, how much would they be able to pay you? The main reason why people as saying that school is scam is just that they except to be employed by others after leaving school and when that doesn't come, they term in scam.

Have you looked at those learning skill from other people for instance, after learning the said skill, do they end up being employed? I doubt, but as long as they have learnt the craft well, they are always satisfied with it and will never abuse their boss or the firm they learnt the skill from for any reason.

Let's tell ourselves the truth and go to this school, get the knowledge and look on how we can be useful to ourselves.

Even though I no de even reason all this government work again, I can't trade all the knowledge, experience and exposure in gathered in school for any 80k kind of job.
