Do a good research before investing in any coin. No one here can guarantee you a recommendation. Since you have been involved with Bitcoin for a long time. And you've made huge profits from Bitcoin, so I think you know what's good and what's bad. Now that the amount of altcoin in the market, it is difficult to find good coins. There are lots of scam coins in the market. If you believe your friend's analysis and you like the project, then you can invest.
I think it depends on what new coins are bought because not all new coins are profitable. There are new coins that are not good because when they are listed at a high exchange rate, but when they start trading open to the public the price falls and there is no support from the developer.
well you are old investor in Bitcoin since 2013 as you explain above, i think you have experience abut investing in altcoin since you start investing in bitcoin, so why not start research about the altcoin you want invested like your friend suggestion
I am someone who invested in a large number of little-known coins in 2017. Some of them worked for me, and some of them made me loss. If you want 100x or 200x returns, then you can't expect that from Bitcoin or Ethereum. Because these cryptos are already established in the market. You need to go for newer coins with small market cap. But then, very few of the new coins are worth investing in.

There is no crime in listening to your friend the second time but the only issue is, now that you have known that BTC has proven to be the best till today, the new cryptocurrency your friend want you to invest in, have you tried knowing more about it? Have you tried knowing if the team have the capability to keep driving the platform? You have to ask yourself these questions and also ask your friend too, to understand his own point of view? I believe through this, you will know if he is following hype or genuine use case. Lastly, know that a good number of new cryptocurrencies are not good for holding.

Exactly, I always go with some genuine alts which means I prefer investing in top 25 coins in the CMC list like TRON, Stellar, DASH etc. I do not want to take risk in new projects and don't want to lose my hard-earned money as most of them suppose to be scammers. So it's better to go with some top coins and expect some good return..
Of course not all of them in the air are all worth it. Make sure you make your research first before doing anything or investing in some project.

That is a pretty big if don't you think? How many projects become successful right now? Probably less than one in one hundred, and while I can understand that people somehow think that they can pick a coin that will eventually become such a winner the truth is very few people have the time to do that and obviously they are not ready to reveal their methods, it is better to build a strategy that is more conservative, it is not going to give you as much profits but you will avoid catastrophic losses as well. look at the increase from the Ethereum project, they are successful in 2018 and an increase of more than 1000%, but the risk is huge
Worth or not depend with how serious with your altcoin choose when investing, we found many good project not serious with their coin and only get moment just few hour after listing and next time become shit coin, many developer just take profit only without care how their coin become at the future shit or worth.
Definitely true the value of all coins and tokens comes down to their use case. Like bitcoin and ethereum for greate transactions for payment. Investing with other altcoins maybe difficult because there are many ICO/IEO project had failed and most of their coins is shitcoins. 
There are a lot of old undervalued alts, so i dont think that you actually need to search a new coins
The main thing to look at Altcoin is the products and enthusiasts of Altcoin, not just old or new, because many old Altcoins are dead and now there is also a good new Altcoin to be owned by everyone, so to know these two things of course there must be research before already choosing.I guarantee your money will be safe there
It's not easy as you said to invest in the top coins.
I'd rather focus on bitcoin because it's the most proven and profitable coin i have invested. Ethereum is a good coin too next to bitcoin but trusting new crypto coin aside from them, i think i won't risk my money investing in it and might only lose it at the end of the day.
investing in bitcoin is good, so it's not too bad compared to investing in new projects, investing in new projects is very risky because sometimes they need a lot of time to develop the project, some even run away after they make a sale. so it's better to invest in a well-known project and now many new projects with smart contract creating failed too. its too many projects with same concepts but unfortunately they didnt offer new feature than ethereum. investing in new projects actually have big risk than in existing projects, we dont know about team background or project future caused it could be scam whenever they want.
Invest in projects that have a reputed team members and they can succeed than the projects with unknown developers. Despite that there is a risk that it wont succeed but it is better than projects with developers without a face. If a project is coming from a reputed team then they do not need that much advertisement as they will attract investors naturally.

I'd stay with whatever brings me profit and not look for other "opportunities". Impatient people want more and more and forget that they are already invested in something volatile and risky which is Bitcoin and go into even more risky and volatile altcoins and lose money.
I don't understand why some of you who got profit from BTC buy shitcoins. Want to increase the risk? Buy some ETH! Don't waste time and money on some stupid coins like Tron and some even worse scams.

If you can take the risk. You will need enough of patience if you want to make good profit from it. But you can take profit anytime you like. You can tell us the project so we can do more research on it.
