In my opinion there is nothing wrong with exchanging a portion of the ETH that you have with other altcoins because it is very likely that there are altcoins that are able to jump higher than the predicted price or if you have confidence in one of the ico projects then invest in the ico project.

for investment in the ICO, I think it's not profitable at this time, because there are many ICO tokens when listing on the market, the price drops.
my advice is to maintain ethereum that you have, even though the movements are slow but Ether has many functions, so it will never disappear if you save ethereum.

sometimes a profit assessment is only on the number of values obtained. but we never count other aspects such as energy and time that we use as a consideration of profits. Daily traders usually trade assets every day even though the profits obtained are very small. because they combine luck to get profit.

It depends on your personal assessment of ETH really. But if this is the only alt you have, then it is often a good idea to spread out across a few coins.
If you think smart contracts will be huge and you want to spread your bet across them, then maybe sell some ETH and get some EOS/ADA/NEO.
If you think ETH will be the best smart contract platform, and want to cover some other sectors, IoT, fast payments etc, then get some other coins that fill those use cases.
Either way I wouldn't sell all of your ETH - I think it is a very strong project.

Thats always been the strategy on investment and i think only desperate people will sell on their losses right?ethereum is in lowest valur so i guess its much better now to buy and accumulate more currency than selling..i have some ethereum in my wallet now and since the bull is almost here then i am planning to buy again before the train goes far

I suggest to hold at least 70% ETH and the rest to buy for the other 3 altcoins, although ETH doesn't skyrocket again in a short time, but we can see that ETH is slowly rising so that hold for ETH is a better option.

It depends on you. Some coins can increase faster than Ethereum or decrease faster. You need to analyze the coins you want to buy and how they move compare to ETH. But it is not easy to know how thoses coins are going to move.
