The newer mobile-friendly iteration of software that Bitcointalk is going to use, Epochtalk[1], is still on the works.

If you're really that impatient and you're a developer and want to contribute to speed up the process, check out their GitHub repository here[2], or, you can at least test out the test forum[3] and report the bugs you're seeing/experiencing.

Hi folks,
Unless I missed it but the rare times I login to this forum on my mobile, it's a desktop version, obviously terrible to browse, need to constantly zoom in and zoom out, a poor experience.

Isn't ironic? This forum being about the modern technology, blockchain, the future digital currencies, maybe mainstream one day, and yet a forum that looks like it was made in 2002.

Don't tell me it's because of the signatures that would not display properly on a mobile version?

Yeah well, this forum is so damn frigging old, a mobile version of it would be pointless. You can still browse the forum just as fine on your phone via a browser.

There are chances for a mobile version of the new forum, but that's still a long way to go.

Ironic or not, we ain't getting a mobile version anytime soon, and honestly there isn't a bigger need for it.

Bitcoinalk current desktop version is user friendly enough. Its been a long time we are continuing our work without having mobile version but frankly from my own i haven't faced anything to raise complain against this user friendly desktop version. Yeah its true that nowadays most of the websites are providing mobile version for their users which is kinda different in looks but functionality remain same as desktop version. In some cases web developers have to hide or remove some features from mobile version frontend because of limitation. But in desktop version user can easily get all the features together.

Purpose of using bitcointalk isn't similar like Instagram or Facebook and for this reason it isn't mandatory to have mobile version. I am not telling that we don't need mobile version but I think most of us are enough comfortable with current version.

I can certainly see the irony in it, but you won't hear me complaining at all.  There was a time not too long ago where I was using my smartphone to do most of my posting, but I gave it up out of frustration--not because the site isn't mobile-friendly but because my fingers are far too fat to type accurately on that pesky small keyboard.  Even using a stylus I find it frustrating.

That said, it's not all about me and I'm pretty sure a lot of members use their phones for forum browsing and posting, and for them I'd like to see a mobile-friendly option, one that's official.  It's always made me scratch my head that Theymos hasn't implemented something like that.  Most other forums I've been on do have a mobile option, so it can't be that hard to do--plus Theymos is hardly the sort of person who'd be perplexed by such a thing.  I have to assume that he just doesn't care to do it.

Maybe with the new forum software that should be rolling out any day now (LOL), those who want it will finally get their wish.  I haven't been keeping up to date with how that's all progressing, so I could be wrong.

Regards to a mobile version for this forum.
Why can't we build mobile version of Bitcointalk?

The answer we are waiting is "when will the new forum software be released?" I guess that's the very possible solution as it is designed to be mobile-friendly as well. I guess we have to bear with it until the epocktalk be released.

works fine via the web browser on my phone. I dont see any need for an app
I've used the forum for over two years now even on my mobile works fine for me too.

Next to this, a new forum software is being developed for bitcointalk... This decreases the odds of migrating to a newer version of SMF that might be mobile friendly. The new forum script developed for bitcointalk is called epochtalk. The main problem is that epochtalk doesn't seem to move out of beta phase (it's been in beta for yeeeeaaaarrrrssss)... Not much is being developed, and it's just not moving along (at least, so it seems to me)
Epochtalk has nearly finished, but there are some things that contribute to delay the switch from the SMF-based forum to Epochtalk forum.
- Still some bugs that might affects data switch
- Admin (theymos) is more familiar with SMF, so he would like to stay with the SMF-based forum, because he is the only one coder for the forum.
Staying with familar platform might save time and reduce troubles when admin need to add new rules, such as recently bump changes.
A big possible reason is that I'm the only person who does development on the current code, and my time is limited. Another big reason is that this is a huge forum with complex dynamics, and even small policy changes can have big effects which need to be thought through very carefully.
- There is a known forum used Epochtalk codebase, so if one is interested in new forum software, just visit and check that forum.

When viewed from current technological developments, the world should use the term "Mainstream" in the life of Technology.

That is, (main stream)[ Cryptocurrency, Blockchain, Forum bitcointalk, not only included in the popular category, can be termed the "mainstream" can be used in some fields as well as technology,

Example:
While in the past most people used branded cellphones, certainly those who used branded phones were "mainstream" users, but nowadays there are too many brands of cellphones that are the words of this new brand also called the "mainstream".

In other names for example:
Bitcoitalk forums are not yet known to many people, but it is certain that people use "Intel processors" that are also the mainstream users of the reasons many use the Bitcointalk Forum going forward.

So, one conclusion can be drawn that:
"means mainstream".
However, if elaborated again contains meaning it can be called "the main behavior, habits, general and also reasonable, does not cause weirdness in the future.

I don't think that it is ironic.
I think it is better to be like this because we could still get many update from a computer or mobile phones.
Besides that, I feel better if I can see the image in a large monitor than to use in mobile phones Grin

This issue has been brought up so many times in the past...
The main problem is that the current forum runs on an old version of SMF. Theymos has extensively patched and hacked the code, so upgrading to a new version would be pretty hard for him.

I don't want to install another app on my phones when I can have better experience and more comfortable with computers. There is no good methods to give better experience on phones than computers when users have to type a long document.

If mobile app is only for reading, it is unnecessary because I think experience with web-browsers is good enough.

Bitcointalk Mobile Friendly App for Android.

It's not official but worth a try.

For the ones not reading further "because it's an app", it worth mentioning that this is actually an addon for Firefox (mobile).
It can be improved, but it makes Bitcointalk layout pretty OK. It has its risks though, since the addon will read all data on bitcointalk (the developer claims though that the passwords are not read).

Yes, unfortunately it does not have mobile version. The theme is not responsive that's all. However I think there are few plugins that were developed by few users. Someone might give you the link to try.

These emojis are kinda cool by the way.
