Yes and even if it is true that the medicine was prescribed, it would never change the fact that the substance is on a list that counts it as inadmissible doping. This excuse or any similar excuse has never helped and the anti doping boards would undermine their effectiveness on all levels if they let any such excuse count and help a player get away with it.
It is a tricky topic though because I have always thought about the possibility (also in tennis) that if someone wants to get rid of a rival, it could be tried to mix forbidden substances into a bottle of water or food or whatever is possible to get that substance injected into someone's body.
But in this case when Pogba already admitted that it was his doctor, he is also not 17 years of age when he could be too naive and just believe what a doctor says. In professional sports every player with that experience would ask the club doctors from the domestic league whether it is ok to take the substance X, Y, or Z.
It is true that the test results showed that Pogba was positive for using doping, whether Pogba was positive for using doping intentionally or not. However, I see many people who support him, and believe that Pogba did not intentionally use doping. I also wish him the best, hopefully the second test result will no longer be positive.
If indeed Pogba deliberately uses it, even with a doctor prescription. So it is certain that his career will end soon, no club will want to recruit him and Juventus will end their partnership with Pogba sooner.
On skysports.com it is reported that Pogba had until Thursday evening to request a counter analysis for the sample he was tested positive on. I think this is a move coming from pure desperation but I would do the same if I were him. The only problem I see is that these analyses conducted by those doping supervisory authorities are probably bullet proof because they would go for extensive testing themselves before they publish the results.
That's why I think it could be an advantage for a player to immediately admit what happened, not extend the whole issue unnecessarily and also communicate it that way and then ask for mercy. Admit the issue, provide an explanation and ask for mercy while also saying that any penalty will be accepted.
The counter analysis will take up to seven days and then the final judgment will be made by authorities.
