This is what he was missing all these years and that's the problem. Mourinho plays a certain style of football which is not terrible but a bit outdated, which means that the type of players he likes to see in his own teams do not look to be that common.

What I believe however is that if you keep him long enough, he will fill the team with the type of players he likes to see and that would result with the wins they were looking for. He had that long before, and now he has that again which will help him get more wins than Roma was expected to get. This is why there is a good hope that we would see Mourinho finally managing a team that he himself built, instead of just given to him and asked to get results.
Mourinho does not have good ability to manage his club and players for too long. He can build up connections with players, improve them and bring a whole team to success but later he usually has conflicts with clubs and players. Then he often escalate it more rather than de-escalate it that at the end causes a sack of Mourinho.It is certainly that very few coaches can manage to gain a too long success and stability. They must have very flexible and good management as well as good support from club director board. In modern football, solid support from club is something hardly to get.
