Yesterday, four games ended in a draw in the beginning of the 2024/25 season in the Serie A and we'd be hoping to see different scored in today's two games and if I'm being honest, I'm more certain there will be more hopes of Bologna winning and producing a win than in the game between Napoli and Verona.
It's Conte's first game in charge this season and I'm doubtful Osimhen will play the game which leaves more responsibility on the shoulders of kvaratskhelia. Napoli of late haven't been in fine form and knowing how they've struggled, teams will be looking to take advantage and get three points and Hellas Verona won't be any different. Can Conte bring in a new pattern to bolster the team's confidence or will we be seeing a continuation of last season's imbalance?
The match between Napoli and Verona has entered the 65th minute and while Napoli is one goal behind Verona after Livramento managed to score a goal in the 50th minute, Napoli managed to dominate today match even though they were playing at Verona home ground, however their high dominance over Verona was not giving them a better chance to score goals in the match, Napoli managed to create a lot of kicks towards the goal but only a few shots were on target so far, very contrast to Verona which actually had difficulty breaking through Napoli defense but was more effective when they got a chance in front of the Napoli goal, Osimhen absence from today match had a negative impact on the sharpness of Napoli attack line and even Kvaratskhelia who was Conte mainstay today, was unable to do much and must replaced by Raspadori after suffering an injury.
Meanwhile in other match, currently Bologna is able to take a 1-0 lead over Udinese after Orsolini was able to maximize his penalty in the 57th minute.
Although currently Udinese and Napoli are behind their opponents, there is still plenty of time for both of them to equalize the score and maybe even make a comeback before the match is over
Napoli just got destroyed by Verona which was totally unexpected. This was Conte’s first match in Serie A as the manager of Napoli. But he totally fumbled. I think not having Osimhen cost him very badly. Napoli had the majority of the possession, 67%. This means they had 2/3rd of the possession of the whole game, had twice the total passes but an equal amount of shots on target. Napoli had 14 shots but Verona had only 9 shots. Which shows that chance execution has been very poor by Napoli. Honestly, I am surprised by this result as well.
Another match I am excited about is the match between Roma and Cagliari. This is De Rossi’s first match with his squad of Roma. The match is currently ongoing and the score is 0-0 and it's almost 60 minutes ongoin. Lazio vs Venezia is also ongoing and the score is level with 2-1. But I will be keeping a close eye on the match of Roma vs Cagliari.
Yesterday I was also surprised because I thought both the big teams from Milan, AC Milan and Inter Milan would be winning their matches but both of them started their season with a 2-2 score draw.
