Milan stood alone without being able to put pressure on Inter and Juventus and not getting pressure from Fiorentina and Atalanta who were below them. The points gap created by the current competition does not bother Milan, and that is why Milan can secure a ticket to the Champions League next season. At the start of the campaign, Milan appeared consistent, but in their journey so far they have become increasingly far from title contenders, also being eliminated in the Champions League, Coppa Italia and Super Italia Cup, and having to fight again in the Europa League via the play-off route. Now there are only two opportunities for Milan to win the competition, the European League and Serie A, but in my opinion Milan chances of winning the trophy in these two competitions are very low.
There is a possibility that Inter will be shaken in the future by the tight competition schedule, but I think this possibility is very small, and even if it happens Juventus will be the one who will take advantage of the momentum, because their position is only 2 points behind. Milan needs to maintain consistency in the second half of the season, if there is a possibility of being able to compete again to win the Scudetto then they can take advantage of it, at least Pioli fleet can secure tickets to the UCL without having to come under pressure from other teams. In the European League itself, we know that Liverpool and Leverkusen are the favorites there, it looks like Milan needs a miracle to win the trophy, it won't just enliven the competition.
Milan next match is against Udinese, Pioli's team will have the ambition to atone for their sins in the first leg, where in the first half of the season Milan lost 1-0 to Udinese. In this match, Milan is still in the lead, but personally I will avoid betting on this match, because Milan performance is difficult to predict this season. However, I feel Milan will be able to secure full points, and continue their positive trend by beating Udinese. Finishing in third place in the standings is quite good for Milan, because last season the Milan was only able to finish in fourth place in the standings with 70 points.
It is true that Milan is sort of third place for this season already and it is like it's decided. Unless they dish out more punishment to Juventus or something then we are going to end up seeing them be the third place. That's not too bad, it's a UCL spot and they are going to get some money. Between the money they will get for being in the UCL groups, and for being the third place at Serie A this season, they will make another 50+ million euro or so give or take and that is not too bad.
This is not their usual income neither, they have other stuff too, like tickets and tv rights and merchandise etc etc, this is just based on the result. So Milan should feel quite relax, they can't be in top two anyway, and there is no way they will go to fourth, so just relax for the rest of the season.
