There was a couple of Trojans. Also found them on my my pc. I may have tracked them to my laptop when I was downloading and installing files on both computers.

So I am guessing your laptop wasn't as "secure" as you thought it was.

I would recommend using paper wallets next time.
And DO make sure that you generate your paper wallet address from a really secure system.
What I see as secure system is:

Format your PC and make sure it has NO connection to the internet,
Generate the paper wallet address and write down your private key,
Re-format the PC you have created your paper wallet from.

I think you should be safe there.

EDIT: Do keep in mind that even after formatting data can be retrieved.

A good chunk of the money was in a paper wallet. I transferred it to my regular wallet to send it to coinjar next week.

I would sent it straight to coinjar, but after weexchange and gox, I can't trust anyone else to hold my money. Not even me Apparently Embarrassed

Definitely good idea to decide weather the laptop is going to be a secure wallet or not and if so back up files somewhere and do a complete wipe and only install Bitcoin QT and a Virus Scanner.

On my pc, my team viewer was compromised. I hadn't changed the password after the heart bleed bug happened. Or someone may have gotten the password when the forums got hacked.

The log says someone logged in and downloaded every file or folder that says Bitcoin in it.

I would say do a crowfunding campaign.
You got the goods (BTC memorabilia) and you are running out of time.

Setup a crowdfunding campaign and offer BTC memorabilia to those who participate.

Just a thought.

It would be a shame to lose pieces that would one day be in a physical museum, maybe promise to put a plaque of the users names saying "This piece was saved by : User A, User B" especially on hard to find items.
