Probably many people have lost money because of investing in the ICO's that he recommended. Anyway, it's good that people realized that he promoted the ICO's just for money, and he didn't really believe in them. Let's hope that he doesn't come back in the future with the ICO promotion services.
This is what happen when greed controls you, so many baseless advertisement and speculation coming from this guy and now he is facing consequences for that move. I hope SEC will continue to make threat to anyone who will hype the market again and in the end it turns to a scam.

I think there will be so many investors and traders need to find out new way to get news about cryptocurrency when John McAfee decided to stop promoting for ICO project cause as I know there are so many guys still follow all ICO projects and cryptocurrencies that John McAfee Tweet about on Twitter Smiley

I don't know why would anyone pay $100k for his shilling in the first place, I never thought of him as a reputable guy, I would be cautious buying in into his projects. He made his $1M or balls prediction only to become more recognizable in the crypto space, it is not backed by anything. Nobody would talk about him if there were no absurd predictions.

It's still good marketing if you think that he has millions of followers and quite many who follow his recommendations, I think McAfee calculated himself that it costs his clients 17cents to reach out to his followers so it's not such a bad deal

John McAfee Will Stop ICO Promotion Services - The cybersecurity pioneer and eccentric digital currency advocate John McAfee, who has long been a digital token promoter has revealed today that he will not promote ICO anymore because of the perceived "threat" of the Securities and Exchange Commission. Mcafee revealed this through social media on his Twitter hand.
Finally he comes to his senses. While I agree to the ICOs that he is promoting but with his popularity in the crypto world, the project will not be known for its actual project it self but more on an ICO that was promoted by John McAfee. We would rather see a project to be known organically not artificially because it was endorsed by a known figure like John McAfee. Road map and actual project plan will just come in 2nd place, it should be the other way around.

To be fair tho, people also were at fault. Short pumps only happened because every idiot was buying the coin he promoted, they even had bots ready to buy anything, that's why when he got hacked those idiots got rekt and pumped retarded coins.

People are realising that the coins he supports are paid tweets rather than actual support. He probably hasn't even read the whitepapers, just shilling what they pay him to say. Bad for his credibility as we can't take him seriously any more.

John McAfee's like a wolf in sheep's clothing, threats are just excuses all of which have been carefully planned before and are now a devastating blow to reputation, and the credibility of a John McAfee.

maybe that's not the only reason john mcafee to stop promoting ico because it's risking his reputation

What reputation? His reputation as a scammer and con-artist?

More likely he's just made enough money for now - he was charging $105,000 per tweet. No doubt he'll be back with another shady as hell scheme in a few months when the money runs out again.

yeah you right mate John McAfee looks likes an politician moves sorry to tell but he on the side which where they can good for him, to cover their reputation, and i do not believe him for their statement since i was follow their because its over reacting, like bitcoin hit upto 40,000 usd i think need to become reality not over reacting.

Thank you, SEC, for getting rid of this guy...for the time being.

To be fair, even though we all know that he's just a clown, the guy does have a reputation outside the cryptocurrency world, he probably found out the whole shilling shitcoin service wasn't doing any good to his business so he decided to call it a day.

Good to know it Smiley. This liar should stop promoting for ICO project and cryptocurrency cause he's going to live on TV to eat his own dick Smiley. Because there are no way that Bitcoin can reach to millions dollar in 2020 although it's the king of this world Smiley. I think so many guys will be really happy when they know this news. LOL

I think this is the right decision, because he is worried about its freedom. I think that his team is not always can check the ico quality for 101%.

So what if he's going to stop his service to make that much money by advertising a random coin/project?
He's too rich and he shouldn't let himself get involve with this thing anymore after losing his credibility.

That is good because he will likely save himself tons of fines by making that statement and or jail time. He is a smart guy despite what everybody thinks, and he is protecting his own bacon by making this move.

But do expect him to bounce back in some other form of schilling/scheming once the heat in the kitchen dies down.

I think it is a good decision and most of the icos that he promoted were the ones that he got paid to promote so i think it was somewhat unfair and unethical, for a guy of such statute like Mcafee we do expect him to Be unbiased and neutral always.
