Meanwhile, yet again, another completely unnecessary EMPTY block from that piece of crap slush pool:

Block 541915 found by slush was an EMPTY block 274 total bytes.

Checking our main bitcoind for the real info on that block shows:

Previous block:
2018-09-18 09:16:33 UpdateTip: new best=00000000000000000002d833f95050dcc7f5fe641c0c6840776b4d0d1f1e60f9 height=541914

Our first work we sent out for that block change:
2018-09-18 09:16:33 CreateNewBlock(): block weight: 3398751 txs: 2084 of 2084 fees: 0.02074180 sigops 19411

Yep there were still 2084 transactions in the mempool, we produced work for a reasonably full block after that block change with the 2084 transactions

Then 3 seconds later slush's EMPTY block - yep instead of sending their miners work for an almost full block, they sent them work for an EMPTY block:
2018-09-18 09:16:36 UpdateTip: new best=0000000000000000001554f242b1f8f96b0a6e5570255037982ba1c25d560c8d height=541915

Our first work after block 541915:
2018-09-18 09:16:36 CreateNewBlock(): block weight: 3415245 txs: 2095 of 2095 fees: 0.02103393 sigops 19496

Yep slush didn't use up any transactions - though of course you can see that on any block chain site by the fact that height=541915 is an EMPTY block
https://www.blocktrail.com/BTC/block/541915

Just shows how stupid the people are who mine on slush - and no I don't want them here unless they realise they are fools who have no idea about what is good for Bitcoin and need to do something about it Smiley

I would also suggest that anyone who uses the Canadian hosting service mentioned here:
https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.45601300
that they choose somewhere else, since they are an avid supporter of slush and mine there, and thus clearly have NO idea what is good for Bitcoin.

From what I've seen over the years, most slush-ites don't understand or care about the health of Bitcoin.  They only care about their daily payout fix.  They're even willing to get paid less for their work just to have that fix.  It boggles the mind.  Those that figure out what's really going on leave slush and never go back.  There have been a few that fit in that category...

Is it just me or have S9's dropped A LOT in prices since I last checked ebay? I see some going for less than $300 with and without PSU. Those used to be S7 prices not long ago. What is going on? Did I miss something?

Quite a few people are giving up on mining and just dumping their gear.   If you have the space, makes it much better for those of us who continue!

Yes, S9i 14.5th is only $361 new from bitmain. With a $55 coupon this makes the S9 very cheap now.
Aaaaand, they're basically break-even these days. Grin

Cheers to 1FX... for block cracking action!  Wink
That's the third one in just over 2 weeks.  Mine ON!  Cool
... and while processing the payout for that, I only just now noticed that was an asicboost block - our first.
i.e. with a block version != 20000000
Yay! Functional and regression testing wins again!

Block! by Canaan! Cheesy
Thanks, Canaan, for the block and the miners! Cool

Also it was only 327% which is expected, on average, over a large number of blocks, about 1 in 26.3 blocks (on all pools) to be worse than that.

As for the month so far, we're less than 1 block behind (0.36 to be exact) - so nothing to be concerned about.
Thanks, Kano, for the math(s) and the pool! Grin

I need to Avalon 841, 741, 831, 821 and/or blockie.  Undecided
