I upgraded all mine to v2, had to adjust the starting frequency for most of them but if they are in a datacenter kept nice and cool they should be fine.

If you run them at home, then no don't upgrade to v2, you lose the ability to control the fans as it all becomes automated in the software. So they run hotter and faster.

That being said, any new S9/T9 will have the same v2 firmware so you would be in the same boat if buying new machines.

Is there an issue with S9 Batch 1 on Kano?

If I change the firmware to the most current firmware, will this take care of the issue if there is one?

most likely than not it will mess up your miner. it did for mine, temperatures rose to much higher than 100C.
If you want to follow the 'rule', point v1 elsewhere and v2 here, however, he did not post latest statistics yet.
Maybe the "effect" disappeared, maybe not. I would like to see how the stats are in the last, say, 3 mo.

It's not so much 'on kano' as the fact the kano-san does much statistical analysis of the pool data and it has shown that the S9 units running the v1 firmware seem to have lower luck, so much so it appears to be more than just variance. So he has requested those with S9's running the v1 firmware upgrade to v2.

Thanks for the information!  I am moving mining here.

I think you're both right. I'll be sticking with it, so long as it doesn't break me.

Mine on.

'The right to privacy matters'
I like whats going on with the block rewards, thats almost 2 btc worth of transaction fees.... looks like mining is setup to work well even after the block rewards eventually disappear. Hopefully this trend continues.
Ya know, that's the question that keeps coming up with my partner and other folks...what about after mining? My understanding (well...assumption...) has always been that the network would continue to have blocks to solve, but there just would not be the reward of any coins generated...because they've all been created. You'd be solving blocks only for the transaction fees. For someone like myself, that's still worthwhile, at least with the free-powered gear, and I'd like to do what I can to support the network (I run a full node now). The key would be as to whether folks like Kano could afford/would want to run pools at that point.

If there's another, more appropriate, place to talk this thing over, please post a link. I find it intriguing.

To be blunt, any 'bitcoin experts' who can't see that working with the design, are only into bitcoin for the short term. Pump and dump like altcoins.

Also one of the reasons why I dislike what core devs are trying to do bitcoin, give them more centralised control and break that design with LN.

you happen to be right.  btc is the highway of life for all alt coins.

don't fuck with the highway.

An endless parade of  alt coin variations that use btc as the  bed rock path to fiat works far  better then fucking with the bedrock of crypto coins (BTC)

Both the DE node and the NYA node did a reconnect at 14:14 UTC
So all miners at DE and NYA will have failed over (and back again 5 minutes later)

DE repeated that a 2nd time a few minutes ago but everyone failed back straight away.

MTR shows some severe network issue out on the net between the servers (not at the servers) at 'ntt.net' and routing going haywire, so out of the control of the server providers.
It seems to have settled down, so hopefully will stay that way.

Edit: nope, it's happened again for both DE and NYA at 14:40, so failover for everyone on DE and NYA again, but both have reconnected.
