That's pretty cool, hope we see miners migrating from others pools now that Kano worked out the Asicboost thing!

By the way, anyone selling bitmain coupons? Interested in buying 5 or 6 of >$300 value. Please PM if you have some still.

Woohoo - almost time to point the dragon to the main pool and cross that 200TH threshold!

The pool asicboost support has completed testing also.
After the KDB restart has completed and all is running OK, I'll work out when I'll do the pool update restarts for asicboost.
I've found yet another bug in the pool code, this time regarding failing to submit asicboost blocks, but I've patched in a workaround and tested it.

does that mean I can add my dragons to kano?

Not yet, he just restarted the KDB...now he has to restart the pool for everything to go into effect.  That will be sometime today.
OK planned update for the pool code is 02:00 UTC in about 10.7 hours.
I'll post again not long before that to confirm it.

The update will firstly be the main node behind the scenes, then as long as that goes all OK,
I'll update one of the non-mining nodes and then each of the mining nodes after that.

The first step, updating the main node, may not cause everyone to failover (though of course some miners will)
I think it should be about 10% failing over for that as long as all goes as planned.
Also, I have tested various combinations of versions and having the main one updated worked ok with a node not updated.

The next step of doing each node will failover each miner on the node that I update.
All nodes will be done within about half an hour after I start.

Mine on! Smiley

Hmm, wonder if a certain other software dev has picked up on that? Wink
Just another reason to mine here. Face it, in one respect pool software is like any other financial software: money is at stake so it had better be thoroughly vetted via testing before entering production status.  If there is a bug(s) not only are actual monies earned at risk but also as in this case, possible earnings. Having a pool op/programmer who knows that is Priceless.

No mining should be affected.

This is a minor update, but includes a change to better support empty blocks in KDB.
While we never want or hope to find empty blocks, the state of the Bitcoin network recently meant there were actually times when the available transactions after a network block change were very small.
We had one during that where there was only 1 transaction available on the network after a network block change.

Isn't the 741 losing $US 1 per day? How do you manage that with hosting?
Not sure if this was directed to me or EncoreMining, but I'd rather mine at near break-even than get involved with the exchanges. That's just my personal preference, though.

Edit: I don't have anything hosted either.

...Biggest thing is that you need an AUC3 dongle -- the A6 uses the older AUC2...
Thanks. I made sure to get the AUC3 module and connection cables included with the miner.

Congrats. I love my 741s. Still have 9 running and 1 waiting for a new power cord.

^^ Considering how cheap they are, get a new SD card. Biggest thing is that you need an AUC3 dongle -- the A6 uses the older AUC2. They are not interchangable. For one source, check Blokforge.com

Well, folks, the time has come to upgrade my mining rig to more than just "the little Avalon6 that could"...

When I saw how cheap the 741 is going for these days and is still basically break-even at my electric rate, I decided to take the plunge!

So, are there any pitfalls I should watch out for when reflashing an already finicky SD card that's currently stuck in read-only mode due to some cluster count mismatch?

Should I just start from scratch with a new SD card?

Any link to the best 741 RPi3 setup would be greatly appreciated! Thanks.

Last time I checked, Oregon Mines still had some space available in their upcoming expansion scheduled for August.

I have 35 miners hosted there and have been happy with them so far.
Hi Yrth,

Thanks for the tip.  I reached out already and waiting for a reply.  Did some background check and looks alright until I saw this link:

https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/scammer-oregon-mines-1065198

But knowing you have miners hosted there gives me peace of mind.  Will physically go out to the site.
I don't wanna clog up the thread, but I since this is about trying to help a fellow Kanoite run his gear.

I am not affiliated with them any way.

I ran across that when I was originally searching for hosting. I had exchanged emails with both Tom and Terrance before sending them a few pieces of gear to host.  I orginally sent them a few used s7's to host, and I'm only about 3.5 hour drive from them. So I figured I would take a shot. That was a year and a half ago and I have had miners hosted with them ever since, slowly increasing over time.

Want to thank NotFuzzyWarm for the pool advice since I'm just trying to get back in the game.  Looking for some advice on where you guys are colocating since current calculations are around $0.11/kwh which probably means I'll be taking a loss on running 5 x S9's.  I've checked quotecolo so want to see what you guys are doing in terms of loss/profit.

BTCamm!!! There it is!!!
on an unrelated note can i ask how excited are for the new Shazam movie the trailer looked really nice. Smiley Smiley

Meh. I'm not exactly looking forward to seeing it. I'm not a huge fan of "reproduction" in Hollywood. They have a
tendency to completely skew the original character, with something that is more "budget" friendly to their ideas.

Chances are, they will destroy something I've enjoyed, very, very much, since the 70's.  Tongue
I think i know what you mean i have read and loved The Dark tower series by Stephen King boy was i disappointed by that movie  Sad Sad but i still hope they make in a way were fans of Shazam can enjoy it. Smiley

Hello!
Today, all my asics have disconnected from the pool (just status dead). Also I can not enter the site (there is an error "Login Failed"). Tell me please what's wrong with my login? Login "talliar"

As I mentioned in Discord to someone else who had the same thing happen today.

you will be paid out what you have earned - but will be paid no more - I suggest you mine somewhere else since I've blocked you from all servers
and

I've cleared out a number of miners today - from all over the world
Hint ... read posts about Experimenter on the forum
(similar but not exactly the same)

But I did not mine anywhere except Kano. The last two days I had problems with disconnecting the asics because of the heat (ventilation can not cope). By what criteria did you block me?
