mac gear  I have 3 mac mini's   is good for a wallet

0.12.1 is easy to back up  with super duper you can fully clone the hdd  and it will have a full back up of the wallet.
got to love that time machine that comes with OS X

It's "macOS" now... everything old is new again  Wink

A question, maybe a bit off-topic... I'm thinking about buying a S9, do you think it would be better to pay for it in BTC or fiat? I ask because the BTC price has been rising lately...

And i  think there is no need to change the payout system. If someone wants to fill his exchange account with larger but less frequent portions - just use your own wallet... What's the problem?

Agree that I'd prefer we not change the payout system. As a small-time (and new) miner, the payout system here is one of the key reasons CKPool first caught my eye. (I've since learned to appreciate much more and have come to appreciate the beauty of the minimal UI.) I, too, am a Coinbase user, but recently switched wallets based on conversation in this forum. I'd advise you to use one of the many other wallets fully under your control (and not one managed by an exchange).

Yesterday we watched our football team lose... And the pool was still stuck working on that 279% hard block... No luck nowhere.
I've just got up and saw +6 Blocks  Shocked

The problem is that people invest heavily without taking 10 minutes to google 'bitcoin wallet safety'...

Whatever happened to the 'if you don't have the private key(s), you don't own your coins!'-spam?

... but just 5 mins ago, the DE node is now having problems.
Same linode and same place DE, this time, as where the solo problem was before.
Seems it was my connection to the DE node, since the hash rate didn't seem to have dropped once I was able to get at it again.
All OK again.

Did the pool have a hiccup a few minutes ago?
I failed over to the solo pool for a small amount of time. But now back to the main pool.
Now the solo pool is showing dead in my miners...  Huh
No pool issues.
Yeah the solo pool was out of action for about 10 minutes, but that has no effect on your mining here.

I would like to thank Kano and CK for making this all posiible, writing and maintaining this awesome software and the time and effort keeping this pool runnning. Thank you so much.

Any way to get larger payouts instead of so many small ones. I'm using coinbase and worried so many transactions will unnecessarily trigger financial reporting stuff. I tried blockchain.info but they charge close to 10% fee?Huh I will try poloniex next but it would be nice to have it solved here.

Thanks
Dave...

Why use someone else's wallet? Use your own on Bitcoin Core. It's free. Then worry about transferring larger amounts when you want/need to an exchange.

Well the main issue is the wallet.
I don't really want a pool wallet with a day's worth of spendable coins (currently can be on occasion $100k or more) waiting to be sent at some later 'payout time'
I keep the wallet balance low by sending each block when it matures +101 - unless I'm asleep Smiley

Also, I can only join payouts by delaying the ones ready to be sent i.e. join them with later payouts when they come due. So that means delaying payouts more.

The pool payouts are normally direct from the block transaction to the miners, so it's clear where the BTC is going for almost everything (but the 'dust' balance from each block)

I was also thinking of having the option to allow miners to join their payouts (but only their payouts) in a transaction and send that to the pool (maybe once a month) but that poses problems about stopping people from producing transactions for other reasons.

It's still in my undecided basket.

In my opinion, for security reasons and also kano.is is not a bank... payment needs to be executed frequently and avoid a Mt Gox scenario.

On the other hand, this financial reporting activity in Coinbase, I reckon has something to do with US looking to tax mining revenue - even if you change to another platform other than Coinbase, I am sure US tax authority will sooner or later catch up..... so in other words... resistance is futile... No need in changing to larger payouts, Coinbase is regulated and reports all transactions.  They are good to make the transaction from $ to BTC and BTC to $ at 1%, but do not keep money there.  They also only hold 5% in BTC and 95% Privately; that means that if there is a rush to exchange they only maintain 5% in exchangeable funds and would not take a loss, just like the banks.

Use GreenBits for great security or Airbitz for ease of use.

Hell yeah! Block Friday dance commencing!   Cheesy

I am singing to that tune.... ebony... ivory... singing in perfect harmony....

I am glad that our pool somehow managed to charge forward, with or without the big irons.

The massive red blocks will always be there but our green blocks pushing our 100-block average to 110% is amazing!
