Damn. Last block was solved but by bitminerpro (~690th)

Any block found by someone on this pool is a good one.  Grin

Mine at Jonny's Pool
Hey kano,

Just wanted to stop by and wish you well with your promotion.  You and Con have done a great service to the community by providing both great mining software and more recently your mining pool.  To everyone who is mining here, best of luck on winning the SP20!  Don't have to worry about me... my miners are still all hooked into my p2pool node and I'm traveling for work without remote access to change them Smiley

For the compo, do you have to mine as a worker can you mine as an address?

You can mine with an address, but you need to be able to sign a message with it.

If you mine to an address, you'll need to sign a message with the winning address, to identify who is the contact to claim the prize.

I don't really understand who is the winner. Anyone explain?

Kano has answered that:

The winner will be the next person who finds a block, with a single mining account or mining address with between 800GHs and 50THs, between now and the 110th valid pool block - i.e. the next 26 valid blocks.
If no one in the 800GHs to 50THs hash range finds a block by the 110th valid block, then instead, the last person, in that hash range 800GHs to 50THs, who submits the last valid share before valid block 110 is found, will be the winner.

Basically the next person that has a hash rate between 800 GH and 50 TH that finds a block.

Simple version - whoever finds the next block ... but you have to be more than 800GHs and less than 50THs
Long version with all the details, read the opening post:

Yep looking at it from a 1TH view, it often slips under a true 1tH.
So the 800GH kills two birds with one stone.....takes care of a 1TH slipping and includes folks with a couple S3's.

Yes, I'm not going to kick anyone off the pool for having a low hash rate (unless they turn out to be a botnet Tongue)
But I'll also not promote people to lose money mining with old hardware that costs a lot more in electricity than it will mine.
I initially set the limit to 1THs to make it a nice round number, but then lowered it to 800GHs well before I posted the full details, and I wont be changing it.
I wanted to cut it off somewhere, so 800GHs is where I set it ... also someone in IRC asked for a little lower when I said 1THs so I obliged.

Under 40 now....lol.
Sort of looks like way?
Someone with 2700TH needs more?  Huh

I'm betting that Kano will keep you in the class you were in if you were over 50TH.
IOW, you can move up but not down.

guys you can pick up a second S3 pretty cheap on ebay right now.
I saw a guy yesterday selling seven of them for 140.00 each and paying shipping.
Appeared to be well cared for.
I almost bought two but decided to order an S5 for $400. (they're on sale for around 350 and shipping to uS here is just under $50.00.
Less power needed than 2 S3's.
Just a thought, side benefit is you will double your payouts while you're going for the gold.
Happy Mining.

I just ordered two S5's myself.

Loving this pool. Would like to see us get it over 4k TH consistently.

Did Lightsword just drop down to 48 GH so he could be in the running for the SP20?   Cheesy

Anger is a gift.
Probably a dumb question, but did you ever get a chance to add support for us poor Asicminer tube/prisma people?

I only run a single S3.  That's 480GH on a good day.  It's more than the dozen other ASICs I have put together (which are in a box, they're pointlessly slow now and a pain to keep running as they're all stupidly fussy Avalon-based things).

I think it's a but naff setting a low limit so high, it's precluding those of us who are supporting this pool with our little home miners.  I mean, it's very, very unlikely that someone like me with 480GH would actually find a block, but there's no hope of winning if we're excluded.

But, anyway, me and the other 12 named users at less than 800GH will probably keep on mining despite this.

yeah I can see they don't want people tossing tons of little usb sticks at them.  but the list from 400 to 800 is very small 8 people

and from  160 to 400 it is 7 people

so 160 to 800 is  a total of 15 people.

so it would be an s-1  miner and an s-3 miner that loses the chance  here.
