So ... Slushpool just cracked a 550% that took 8 hours ...

Get ready for influx of refugees boosting our hash rate!

BLOCK DANCE!

Not sure where you are looking, but Slush reports block % favorable.  E.g. if they find a block in less than network difficulty, they count that as positive luck.  So the 550% block, took them 15 mins, not 8hrs (not sure where this number is coming from I looked back through their block history and I couldn't find an 8 hour block anywhere in that last few days/week).

However, with that said, they are also on the unlucky side by over 20%.  In fact all of their numbers show this.  10 blocks, 50 blocks and 250 blocks.  But what's worse is that their hash has doubled as well and their number of miners has gone from 47000 just a month ago to almost 97000.  Can you imagine how tiny those payout are now.  Both *bad* luck and a doubling in the number of users and hash rates.

I moved from Slush, did all the number comparisons, etc and I think I'll just happily stay here thank you very much.

Looking at the block statistics, https://kano.is/index.php?k=blocks

If I am reading it correctly, it appears that we have had bad Luck% for all the block ranges except the last 500 blocks and All blocks, both of which are less than 2% on the positive side; whereas the other block groups are all greater than 2% on the negative side.

Shouldn't it be more distributed if it is random, or is 2204 blocks still too low sample size?

Also, in regards to the Last 88 Blocks chart, is there a place to see those details for the last 2204 blocks?

Thanks!

Can nobody answer this question?Huh? The luck % column looks like garbage. is this just one long run of bad luck for this pool? Are we so small that bad luck lasts for the last 250 blocks?Huh

I TOTALLY agree but you have to admit that the magic internet money last month was pretty addictive.
I'm definitely going through some withdrawal right now. Smiley

Mine on!!

Of course! Whenever we see all time highs like that, a flood of new people enter, which is great. However, some of those new users have spent $6k+ on a used S9 on eBay, didn't do much research about how this all works, and then get mad when the pool doesn't act like a hacked ATM spitting money everywhere.

If you're here long term, sit back, plan out how you'll strategically add hashrate to keep competitive, scope out spaces for expansion, all that good stuff.

The journey from a USB stick miner to dozens hosted in multiple data centers around the world is definitely a fun ride, but like everything you have to be thoughtful and plan well.

In other news...one of my long-time S7s (Doc Jr.) in Labrador bit the dust yesterday.
Well you know those BRAND SPANKING NEW V9's - totally not refurbished S7's running at a lower hash but consuming just as much wattage as an S9 - are still available!  Get them while they're hot not sold out still some (suckers) left.

Why not. For only 300$ usd, you can create a nice electric bill.

If you guys need daily/weekly payouts and 100% luck to keep your mining operations running, this isn't the pool for you. The extra 1.1% you'll pay at the next best option should balance out the variance risk of a smaller pool.

When we hit blocks the payout is way bigger, but that doesn't help if your mining budget can't absorb bad months without a block.

I understand mining is a new hobby for thousands of people, but those people need to understand that it's not "plug in your miner and the magic internet money comes", its a global race every few minutes.

Wouldn't it be cool if this forum was integrated as a part of https://kano.is/ and it automatically showed the total hashrate and current ramp speed of each poster along with other relevant stats?  It would be easy to see who the posters really are.

It seems apparent from their success that they know something you dont.

Don't be so hard on them; someone told them that BTC was climbing exponentially at the end of 2017 so they jumped into the mining "game" and instantly became bitcoin geniuses.  They can see we are on the wrong pool and doing it all wrong.  We should be thanking them for gracing us with their insightful knowledge and helping us to realize that having our own preferences caused our downfall.  I don't know how I ever reached my breakeven point over a year and a half ago without them!

It's hard to believe the big miners stick around. The top 5 miners are burning through a staggering 61,000 kWh per day for zero reward lmao

believe me or not there is something wrong with this pool, point your miners some where else before its too late  Angry Angry Angry

You are wasting our hashrate and burning your electricity for someone else >>> Think and get burned

Changing the 'ramp' is not how PPLNS works, nor would it be appreciated by those already at the 5Nd.  If you want less 'ramp' time, increase the pool's hashrate by mining here!  Wink
You really missed the point and will be hoping to get 2 blocks in a month soon.. so sure, even if you solo mine 'the math works out' if you can live 7000 years or whatever

Fake news! Sad!

Really??

Feb has to be one of the worst months in history for this pool. Half way thru the month and we’ve only found one block so far. Last month was 8. This month could potentially only be 2.
