Just found out something interesting for folks in the USA. Not sure if it applies to other countries.

I was looking to buy another couple of power supplies from the great underground empire of poo.
The last time I tried they accepted bitcoin as payment. They now only accept a US Wire Transfer or that other
crypto currency that will not be named.

I also noted their shipping was almost $100 via DHL.

The total cost from the great underground empire of poo would have been over $300 USD.

I checked and NewEgg is selling the same power supplies for about $120 and free shipping, AND NewEgg takes
payment in bitcoin.

Clarification, each power supply was about $120, so it would be about $240 for two, about a $60 savings and
as well as better ethical ground.

For my own part, I will support companies that support bitcoin.

Hope the info helps

I had temp issues recently also..-

-35 Celsius outside and my 14x S9's struggled to keep the workshop above 40 Farenheight...some temps of units near floor level were down to low 40's also...fans down to <2500 RPM on many units.
Awesome miner on average reports temps much  higher than miner itself...

I mine in -30C.  I restrict my fan intake by about 30% to allow the boards to get warm, and I boot them while warming them with a hair-dryer.  I use aluminum duct tape, but you could use anything that won't accidentally get sucked in.

Any thoughts on dealing with the 30C summer highs?

not a issue, fans run at full speed and you need to throw the hot air outside the mining room

I was able to set my S9 fan speed manually and the reason was it keeps ramping the speed up to 6k and down constantly, my question is what is the safe temperatures on this miner?

Fans are set to 70 percent

Hey guys can anyone please tell me what is the HS code for the Bitmain APW++ power supply for me to be able to import into USA?  I want to buy 26 units but I don’t know the HS code.  Huh

Thanks!

Anyone?
If you have not got the answer, this has details on miners in general.  Not sure about power supplies.
https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/importexport-of-mining-hardware-620682

Here was another article talking about magna power supplies that should get you close.

Harmonized (HTS) Code / Customs Tariff Code
MagnaDC: 8504.40.9540, Power Supplies (rectifiers and rectifying apparatus) of a rated power output exceeding 500 watts
MagnaLOAD: 8533.40.80, Other, Electrical resistors (including rheostats and potentiometers), other than heating resistors; partsthereof
Export Control Classification Number (ECCN)
EAR99, Under the jurisdiction of the U.S. Department of Commerce and not listed on the Commerce Control List

When I have imported, I google Harmony code and a often description of what it does.  Saved myself a couple thousand that way one time with our pc-2-tv.net devices.

Mine On!

Good morning Team Kano

LOVING the weekend block party... makes me bullish on expanding my little operation.  Doing a little Sunday morning couch shopping for miners...

Anyone seen this and have any experience dealing with them?  https://tidbit.store/category.php?page=2&catid=btc&results=6&orderin=ASC&orderby=ID

Also, has anyone bought into the Dragonmint hype?  https://halongmining.com/

Both seem likely to be filed in the "too good to be true" category.  Nobody is advertising T9s or R4s anymore, much less at essentially "retail" prices from Bitmain.

Mine on!  Let's finish January in the green!

Wow! Woke up to find CobraMining found us another block! Thanks Cobra Grin

P.S. Just remember new miners, when the luck pendulum swings the other way, don't panic. It always swings back again. Been here for 2 years so I know that Lady Luck can be fickle. Patience is the key. Mine on!  Grin

+1, what he just said... Smiley

No, they work backwards... they say : " Kanopool found x blocks in y time so they should have z hashing power"

- It just shows that we are have been luckier/better Smiley in finding blocks lately. The figures below confirms it:
Description   Time   Mean Diff%   MeanTx%   CDF[Erl]   Luck%   ?PAPPS%
Last 5 Blocks   5.9days   36.47%   135.20%   0.0381   274.23%   367.43%
Last 10 Blocks   26.1days   79.31%   138.33%   0.2749   126.08%   172.85%
Last 25 Blocks   9.8wks   96.01%   126.83%   0.4461   104.16%   130.91%

Hey guys can anyone please tell me what is the HS code for the Bitmain APW++ power supply for me to be able to import into USA?  I want to buy 26 units but I don’t know the HS code.  Huh

Thanks!

Anyone?

OK, I found a DHL Brokerage form,  Listed as Power Supplies Other  Classification 8504.40.90.93     UM: NMB      VFD Code: 13     Rate of customs Duty 0.0%    Value for duty  134.95
Mine was listed under LVS Casual under Business number, But I only had one on this order.

Other info may be useful:
Country of origin CN   Place of export HK

Check the commercial invoice first though, I had a huge batch exported from CN, but the last batch came from their Hong Kong warehouse.

Had to rewrite a bunch of import license forms Cheesy

The network hashrate at 10/1/2017 was roughly 8EH. Today it is almost 16EH.

How is that possible? Does it imply that in 3.5 months the number of miners doubled? Did the world manufacture that many mining machines in the months leading into the past 3 months? Mind you that in Oct, 8EH was an all time high, so its not people pointing machines back at BTC. How can you double in 3.5 months?

Is there something flawed in my assumptions? Is EH not a proxy for # of mining machines?
It's not a measurement of miners, it's a calculation back from blocks found.
Block luck changes all the time, on small pools, on large pools, on the whole network.

Edit: and of course miners switch back and forth from BitCHcoin to mess that up Smiley
