Hello Kano Gurus,

I recently just switched from Slushpool to kano.is since I heard really good things about this pool. I have read about the ramp up period but also read that some people would see block rewards even before the ramp up period is completed. I also installed the Android app and got a "block found" notification once.

But it's been over 12 hours since I switched my S9 to kano.is and still don't see any information on the rewards page. How do I track activities related to how my miner is doing as it relates to rewards. Slushpool has an indication bar and rewards page which is very helpful.

Am I being too hasty for results? Just a bit worried though.

When did you move your miner over? The last block we hit was on the 24th - so unless it was before then, you wouldn't have any rewards. Are you mining with your username, or just your BTC address? If you are using just your BTC address, you don't see any stats - you have to mine with your username for that.

Hello all, super noob here. Have 3 S9's ordered from ebay for the late Jan batch, praying this order doesn't get cancelled. Hopefully be online by the 2nd week of Feb. Looks like a great community and I can't wait to join in the fun.

Do your homework now. Ping and find out the fastest server to connect to. Read the threads and try and discern how to set them up and how the 5ND works, etc BEFORE they arrive. If you can get the 22/240 V circuits installed before they arrive, Power Distribution Units and Power supplies on hand. Many Noobs don't do this and end up finding themselves trying to put all the little pieces but needed pieces into place. Welcome to the Best Bitcoin Mining Pool on the Planet with the Best Subject Matter Expert running it. Mine On With Kano-San. Merry Christmas.

How would one ping the servers? Currently have all my miners pointed to port 3333 but would love to know how to see if another port is better. Thanks
The port doesn't make any difference for performance.
The Node does, the others are: nl.kano.is de.kano.is jp.kano.is sg.kano.is and nya.kano.is

Thanks for the clarification. Turns out that nya.kano.is is faster for me than kano.is (35ms vs 91ms). Will changing the node over affect my shares and ramping up? I've been online with kano.is and if it won't make a substantial difference should i stay put?

Thanks in advance everyone.

Hi Kano,

Can you help me with this one?

There is a substantial difference between the Hash rate shown in the top right corner below my username and the total hash rate shown in the table under the 'Workers' tab. I am trying to figure out which represents what and which one is my actual current hash rate...

Thanks!

Hi guys,

a n00b question sorry

I have bought my first miner (avalon 741) and started mining on kano pool on 22. December.

However - after 5 days of mining at constant 7.5 Th/s I only received 2 small awards:

23/Dec amount 0.00019134 BTC
25/Dec amount 0.00064641 BTC

according to profitability calculator my miner should generate around 19 USD/day and after 5 days I'm nowhere close to this amount?

what am I doing wrong? my reported hashing rate and internet connection are both stable

thanks for any help!

A few different things:

Most importantly, you're not fully ramped up. In order to prevent pool hopping, Kano's payout mechanism takes some time before it'll pay out the full awards. In this case, its shares based on the network difficulty.

It takes some time for your miner to "ramp up" so that your shares are consistently counting for their full reward. This also works to your advantage if you lose power, internet, or leave the pool. If it takes 2 weeks, for example, for you to be fully ramped up, it'll also take 2 weeks for you to ramp down - do you get a reward even if your miners are offline, based on their past work.

Secondly, the profitability calculators use averages. Those are your expected earnings over a period of time at the current difficulty. If a pool doesn't find a block, you don't get anything. If a big pool is finding blocks all the time, you get less because there's more users.

Like all things that are probability based, it'll all equal out in the long run - but you gotta keep it up for that long run in order to see the expected rewards.

Any hardware nerds in here???  Grin  I suppose I could post this question in a more-specific sub-forum but figured I would post it here first. Purchased a broken S9 because the price was stupid, $110. Question is, the boards are all bad or have some issue. Can I just buy different boards and switch them out? I know there was one guy on here attempting to figure out what was wrong with the boards and fix them. I am no genius with circuitry so not going down that path. Also, what makes a miner a 12.5, 13.0, 13.5, 14.0. Is it just the variance from manufacturing or was this due to upgraded chips etc...? Thanks.

Any interest in selling the unit as-is? I'd give you a 100%+ ROI on it...

I was born at night, not last night. At the current demand on the bay, I could probably fetch 2000+ easy. I looked at the sold listings yesterday. Couldn't believe my eyes.

FWIW all I am going to do is take a heat gun to PCBs and attempt to ghetto reflow them...might make them temporarily work, might not do anything at all. I'd spend $250 to give it a shot though if it's an S9 with 3 bad boards.

This kinda sux.
3 of the 4 S9's are in my city, at the DHL center, cleared customs, and one is on plane departed Hong Kong.  But what is the worst part is that DHL isn't open to allow me to pick it up today!!

Sad   Its only noon. I have time to devise a plan for extraction today!   haha  Any ideas?

Maybe ask RWBY Yang to come along and help you get into the building?
She seems pretty good at breaking (into) stuff with her fists Smiley

I decided to wait...  Not worth getting locked up :-)
I put a hold for pickup, so I don't have to wait all day, ill just go in and pick it up myself.  Less stress than..... When is it going to come.....

The Node does, the others are: nl.kano.is de.kano.is jp.kano.is sg.kano.is and nya.kano.is
How to do it is to go to your Command Prompt.
C:\>ping nya.kano.is

Pinging nya.kano.is [104.207.132.42] with 32 bytes of data:
Reply from 104.207.132.42: bytes=32 time=15ms TTL=54
Reply from 104.207.132.42: bytes=32 time=19ms TTL=54
Reply from 104.207.132.42: bytes=32 time=16ms TTL=54
Reply from 104.207.132.42: bytes=32 time=15ms TTL=54

Ping statistics for 104.207.132.42:
    Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 4, Lost = 0 (0% loss),
Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds:
    Minimum = 15ms, Maximum = 19ms, Average = 16ms

Above is an example of a ping command. You are looking for the lowest millisecond number possible to connect to. In my case it turned out to be the NYA node with an average 16ms round trip, then the other two were the eurpoean nodes in Germany and the Netherlands being my 2nd and 3rd Stratum addresses to point the miners to in case my primary mining pool node failed.

Mine On with Kano-San. Come On Luck, you flip flopping 50/50 coin tossing jewel that you are.

4 s9's 2 821's
Doing an immediate restart of the backend pool - it's failing to keep up with the work changes by a few seconds regularly over the past hour.
Everyone will failover and back.
Web site wont be affected Smiley

Edit: hash rate heading back up to where it was. Restart cleared up the problem. All OK again. Mine on! Smiley
Time for a block! Seems like the last restart triggered one!

Yep, let's go.   Praying to the Goddess of Cinder Block right now.

Someone joked around and said they sent them a lot sooner than the Jan 21 - 30, so they must of sent a bunch of Mandarin Oranges instead!  Hope not..
