An update on where I'm at with the share history checking I mentioned before:
https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.23543194

I've checked a sizeable amount of data from large miners, and all the blocks they report to have found in their own logging/miner stats, and all have indeed shown up correctly on the pool.

I've now written a fully independent share checker from scratch, not using (or even referring to) any code used in ckpool to do that at all, putting it in the KanoDB code, and will be running that on a backup server for all the shares in the past month to verify there's no lost blocks in the share data.
I don't expect to find any, but this luck has been bad enough that I need to check all the data in every way I can think of.
At this point it's to 100% verify that ckpool has indeed correctly processed the last month of shares that KanoDB has received.

Once I've got that running, I'll also add block submission to KanoDB, then I'll put it on the live server also - so in case it ever does find a block that ckpool missed, it will submit it anyway.
It will submit all blocks it finds, not just missing ones.

Turning on my conspiracy hat, there are more changes I'll be adding once I've started the month processing - which should be today some time.

I'll of course report anything I find in all this.

Maybe we need a luck dragon to help us?

So our story can be never ending!

I am not an expert, but currently average block time is almost 15 minutes due to a drop in total network hashrate, but the difficulty has not responded yet.
Would this also mean payouts currently on average happen 50% less?
That could explain some issues perhaps.
Though I see transaction fees are making up for it almost, and the price spike carries it even further.

14 TH on 1300 watts...Canaan just announced in principle. No more 741s, basically, after the first of the year. We all knew something was coming...looks like a really viable alternative to the S9, depending on cost and how they market it. I've been very pleased with the stability and reliability of the 741s.

I got some emails from Canaan as well about this, however I didn't see anything clearly indicating a timeframe.  Did you see otherwise?

It would be nice to be able to buy something to add to my hashrate soon.  I used to add something whenever I got a little ahead but it's been a while since we could buy anything at all.  Now with equipment failures my hashrate is heading in the wrong direction.  I refuse to pay the insane prices listed on eBay!

It's time for a BLOCK PARTY! Grin
Yup, that's my position as well. I haven't had anything fail as yet, but it's getting to "that time." Not anxious to buy, but something in that production/pwr category would be viable and would be worth it...so long as the Ice Planet has that new transformer...it would put me over 50TH.

Jeez, guys...read. The operative words were "in principle." This is why we get so many Roseanne Roseanadana posts on occasion, methinks.

Well we know the hash rate increments they could possibly be in. It just has to cost the same or less per THs than the S9. The shipping for me on the S9s alone would give them an advantage for my business. (In US). I have two A741s that I am hoping to get in the next few weeks to test them out. I only have s9&7s right now.

They were clear that they weren't announcing a timeframe. They couldn't even tell the final hashrate or power!

On one hand they could be doing that so that they can still sell their 741s.  Or it could be we won't see the new stuff for 6 months or more.

Holding their cards close, they are.

As to looking for a steady income...you're in the wrong business. I'm sad to see (but not really surprised) so many "noobs" don't expend the energy to really understand Bitcoin itself, or (I know it's a lot of context, but it's there, and there's a search engine) scan the plethora of good info on this board, before committing to an investment in HW, and then dive into pool mining with no clear understanding of the dynamics of the environment.

This isn't the wild frontier of entrepreneurialism as it was in the beginning. It's business...BIG business, with global nation-state players. It's the only place I know of, though, where an individual can get a secure "piece of the pie" by mining, and have some degree of fiscal security in the long run, when banks and fiat currency are arguably on the brink.
