the mines are in Inner Mongolia that is China

That means if China bans mining - Bitmain will be likely affected.

That will be a huge hash reduction and blockchain should auto adjust difficulty levels down to maintain the 10 minute block intervals.

Like what I said, since Kano is in the Bitkan event - maybe he will have more news.
BitKan was 'delayed and moved' ... 'force majeur' ... but that was just an excuse Tongue
(as they later unwittingly stated themselves)

The Chinese Govt shut down ICOs and the morons at BitKan/Bitmain decided that affected Bitcoin also ... but ICOs have nothing to do with Bitcoin at all.

The HK 'replacement' is next week (Wednesday), but I wont be going since I'll be back home tomorrow and not heading overseas again 1 or 2 days later just for the Bitmain advertising summit.
BitKan announced the change 6 days before it was on, and 2 days before I left, so I decided to make the most of the plans I'd already made and booked and just visited Canaan (and spent time in Japan) Smiley

Ah okay, good point with the US IPO citronick.

It is sometimes very hard to get fresh news from China, so hopefully Kano has some news from the event.

Having worked forensics within international banking...I can think of a couple of paths that might satisfy the Chinese government. Neither probability threatens BTC. The concern is re controlling the value of their own fiat, which, if taken in context with BTC, is made more difficult. Historically, they've always been thorough...if not fair...in implementing fiscal policy in that regard.

Canaan has a US distributor now. Bitmain's repair is US based. Obviously something's afoot, but I'm nowhere near certain exactly what as yet.

I know that the exchanges in China closing is for a real, but I haven't seen any information about China giving a ban for mining.
That's why I asked.

The exchange and ICO ban is for real.

Since Bitcoin survived as usual - China govt may go for local mining ban all together - I am speculating.

If that happens - what would be the immediate impact.

Phil - BITMAIN's mining operations is in Mongolia (outside of China)... some 25,000 15,000 miners I understand.

https://news.bitcoin.com/media-granted-access-to-bitmains-mongolian-bitcoin-mines/

Ahh a gray country as it was ruled by China and Russia for some of the last 100 years

But technically  free from Russia or China

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mongolia

Does Bitmain build its gear in China?

No idea if Bitmain does it own manufacturing perhaps only miner assembly.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s2bDEeKHFVw

@hagsfinn - on hindsight, Bitmain perhaps want to list IPO in US and JihanWu did mention 100-200m investment for mining facility in US.
Russia and Japan have also had some news on their interest in their own SHA256 miners and mining operations.

KANO - If CHINA bans mining (in China) - what is the immediate short term impact on transactions and reduced hash? Thanks
If this rumour for a real?

Is this the reason Bitmain is going to expand to the United States?

Its not a rumor.

All Bitcoin exchanges in China have been given the stop trading order as of yesterday, and ICO ban was also issued before that.

During this roller coaster ride BTC did test the $2900 support briefly but made a great rebound to current $3700.

I am just wondering if China authorities goes for the final blow ban mining in China too ... what will happen to current hash and overall state of blockchain processing if more than a third of mining goes offline.

Since Kano mentioned he will be in Bitkan event in HKG -- I think he will have first hand information on whats going on in China....

The best thing possible is a full Chinese ban on mining with confiscation of any and all gear located in China.

Unless you live in China if you live in China you would be fucked.

Hey guys, new miner here!

I am enjoying being part of the community and contributing my measles 9 THS to the pool!
I would like to know what params should i change to try get more shares and get a better performance, i hardly get 0.0001 BTC/day
SHould i change minimum difficulty default value? what can i do?

Thank you in advance.

Regards

There's nothing to do but keep your miner running Smiley

Your expected average BTC per day on 9THs is ~0.00243
http://tradebtc.net/bitcalc.php
but of course you have the 'ramp up' on the first few days (read Help->Payouts on the web site)
Also remember, that's per day, not per block - there's been 5 rewards so far today Smiley

You can't make a miner mine 'better' other than changing it's physical performance (or adding more miners)
The share difficulty has no expected difference, all it affects is variance and of course the pool wont let you put it too low so that you're sending truck loads of low diff shares to the pool to reduce your variance, since at ~18 SPM it's perfectly ok Smiley

Under the Workers menu, the Shitfs, Shift Graph and Workers pages tell you how you are performing.

@Kano After 5 days with my miner working at 9Th/s i am not getting more than 0.0014BTC each 18 hours and not 0.00243BTC each day as you say, whats going on?

please do not be insulted
I will explain to you  real nasty   you are a moron and don't understand the correct explanation that was given to you.

Now I will give you a fully detailed explanation nice and gentle

you have 9th it is fully settled as 9th.

9th has an average 'normal luck' number for a day.   so for a day it is 0.002453

see it in red below?  0.002453

so what is a day ?  24 hours so on the 15th you made 2 blocks   and 0.00143881 + 0.00147319 =  0.002912   so on the 15th  you earned more then normal

0.002912 your earnings for the day
0.002453 normal luck earnings for the day
0.000459  more then normal

you thought the 0.002453 was your block earning it is your normal daily earning

your block earning will vary a lot for many reasons

Evil beware: We have waffles!

Oh God... BGA SOC surrounded by bucks... I swear Sonny from BFL must be in charge there...
Pretty picture but very bad idea as proven with other failed miners that tried the BGA route....
They could have at least put a PCIe plug on the board as 300W through the edge connector is a no-go. Yep, BFL design philosophy all the way....
