Hello Everyone!

Just wanted to introduce myself Smiley. I just started with btc mining (although I've been buying and using btc for some time) and I got me an used S7 (sadly extremely hard to get an S9 or similar where I live). Just wanted to say that I read some nice stuff about Kanopool and I'll try it today (I've tried btc. com US and Chinese pools and got around 3.7USD for 19 hour mining at 3th/s). So I'm gonna try here for a day or so to see how it works for me (a really little miner).
Why would you say that Kanopool is the best for mining, for example? Smiley Is it good only for big miners or little miners? What would you recommend? Is it better to be in a only btc mining pool or in a merged mining pool (I've read that some may give you other coins, but I guess there should be downside to that, otherwise everyone would be merged mining =x).

Excuse my poor english, I'm from Argentina so my english is not that good.

Thank you guys!

with 3Th/s at current BTC value, I would say you'll get less than 4$ a day. Do you pay for electricity? at 1250W it is around $3+ cost per day.
In my opinion point it to a solo pool and forget about it, who know you might be insanely lucky.

Welcome to Kano's pool!
You need to understand how PPLNS pool works. You can't just "try it for day" as that will tell you nothing. You need to try it for a full month and really that is not even long enough due to luck variance. First month might be fantastic luck and you might think "Wow! This is great! I'm gonna be so happy on this lucky pool". But, if first month is bad luck you will say "Oh man, this is terrible!".  Please look at Kano's luck statistics over the last 12 months (on the Kano pool web page). You will not find a better pool.

I too am a small hobby miner - I have one S7LN and it is underclocked to keep noise down and I could not be happier on this pool. You will not find a more honest pool operator, or a better technically run pool, or a better group of fellow minors for advice. Please stay here for at least one month, but two or three is even better. I have tried other pools when I first started mining and this is the best, by far.

And for the record, you're English is quite good - much better than my Spanish  Wink

You will not get the best results after a day.  You need to read up on the PPLNS payout method.  It takes a few days to ramp up PPLNS to the full reward value.  After that period then you will get a good gauge on payout.  Also this pool only pays out when a block is found.

It is good for miners that are over the dust level which is around 600 - 700 GHs.  An S7 is well above that level, so you should be good to go.

Agree 100%. A day or so or even 3-4 days will not give you a true idea of how much you can make long-term. Pool luck goes up and down and so do payout amounts. You must mine long enough for the luck to even out AND also for your miner to reach the full 5Nd.

"Bitcoin (BTC) transaction delays and fees are increasingly thought to be the result of Antpool mining empty blocks.
Multiple reports surfacing on social media pin the blame for the slow rate of approvals on miners deliberately not including SegWit transactions."

https://cointelegraph.com/news/antpool-asicboost-share-blame-for-bitcoin-network-delays

People should stop mining there. I know many who simply keep the pre-configured settings and just change their worker name. Most search for "what is the best pool" and they choose to mine there seeing it has the highest hashrate.
I am glade I managed to find this pool and been mining since I got the miners. Glade that Kano is always explaining and providing us with tons of information.
Fully agree. Even if payout was less I would not go anywhere else.
Well we don't 'expect' it to be less.
That means sometimes it can be and other times it isn't.
But in the long run it's 'expected' to work out a lot better than mining on Antpoo Smiley

Another slow one this month Tongue Oh well, them's the breaks.
4 payouts Smiley

4 PAYOUTS MAN!!!! We started SUNDAY with 4 payouts, thats why I LOVE KANO'S POOL.

Maybe i am missing something....... perhaps you can educate me......

as i see is..... (please correct me if i am wrong.....)
for the month we are 9 blocks behind normal/expected......
luck is currently at 81%
that is on track with being 20% behind where we are expected to be.... or should be.....
yes.... we just got 4 payouts....... but that is from the last 4 blocks.....
we did not get that payout because of solving the current block..... we just had to wait to solve the current block to get those 4 payouts.....
this is really nothing to cheer about..... in fact we are way behind where we should be.....
despite the drop in difficulty..... we are still not solving blocks at the rate we should be.....
what are we cheering about?Huh?? we are behind for the month.....

am i missing something? what is going on here?

Well, unless you have some magic way to change pool luck, then the current block luck is just that: poor luck, and there's nothing that can be done about it.
Hopping away wont help you either since a luck change has no known point when it will start and when it will finish.

It's not a case of "oh luck has been bad for ages and will continue to be bad"
This month we started with poor luck then completely reversed that back almost to 100% (99.38%), then got 2 long and 2 short unlucky blocks in a row, but have been running expected luck since that (actually was 1 block ahead in that run of 14) until this last block, which was again poor luck.

The month's PPS% is still 93.32% so it's not a devastating result at all yet.

So if you could predict the bad luck blocks in advance with some magic crystal ball, then you might have been able to avoid them, however no one other than you can.

Meanwhile, we had a good run of luck the other day and this slow block confirmed those 4 payouts.
So if you don't like getting 4 payouts at once, then I guess there's nothing to be happy about.
Most people are happy about getting that much in one hit.

Luck goes up and down. Always has and always will.

CDF says approximately one in three blocks is expected to be diff over 100% i.e. on the bad side of luck, on every pool.
The result is that you'll see the pool spending more time in bad luck than in good luck, maths and time says that's how it will be.

Oh well Tongue

is it going to be a 2 day drought?

Nevermind, my block % just dropped from .068 to the average of .055. I knew something was up when I was running so high for the past 24 hours.

I give it less than 1 hour before cobramines finds the next block Smiley
There was a long outage of almost 10PH, 24hrs ago, so that would have shown your block % climbing during that, but slowly dropping back after it.

Of course your block % doesn't mean much unless you've been mining for the full 5Nd when we find the next block.

If you have been mining for the full 5Nd, then it should be somewhere in the vicinity of your % reward of the payout, but assuming the pool hash rate (and your hash rate) has been pretty consistent for the 5Nd ... which the pool never seems to be Tongue

So ... well you can see your actual 5Nd % on the rewards page, and it also = You N Avg/Pool N Avg

P.S. I deleted 2 of your 3 posts since they were all in a row quoting each other Tongue The last one has the other 2 in it.

Edit: we also had another of those close but not quite high enough difficulty shares about 1.5hrs ago ... oh well

Anyway, you have a great pool. It was introduced to me by one of your top miners - MintMining. Very nice to be able to trust a pool owner. I have been mining with you for about a week straight now with downtime only due to the wonderful South American Communications infrastructure. Have a good weekend.

Think for yourself
My Bitcoin client had the message last night saying unknown rules may be in effect again.  Is that OK this time.  I restarted it this morning and it isn't posting that message now.
I've been running 0.14.2 everywhere (with BIP91 and various modifications) and it's been saying it, so yeah don't worry about it.

Thanks for the confirmation.
