It looks like i got the full hash rate now. I read about the 5nd thing so I didn't freak out when i did not get the full hash rate on the first couple days.

Hi everyone. My first post. I switched my two Avalon 741 miners over to kano from slushpool. Slushpool was having connection problems on there end.  And never any explanation or feed on wtf was going on over there. Slowly reading through this thread. Longest one i have ever read. Have good mining day.
Welcome to the mine, my friend. I mined on Slush for some time early last year. I'll not leave this pool, though. My long-term experience is that it's just about the only transparent, miner-oriented, exceedingly well managed pool out there. And...it doesn't hurt to have a pool operator who happens to know the Avalon code upside down.

Don't forget we've got the 5nD thing here...it takes a couple of days to get to full hash share rate, but it's worth it.  Kiss

Best to you.

@ Mz. actual. has Labrador starting taking more miners??
I need to buy and send some if so.
Nope...no such luck. These are replacing two S7s I've had up there since last year. I'll get a net increase in hash. I've asked them to hold on to the S7s until they get more power...we can then put them back online and run them 'til they croak, basically...it's a workable thing 'cuz the 721 and 741 use less power than the S7s they're replacing. I trust Alan to hold the other boxes on the cold rack until the situation changes (est. 2-3 mo).

So it's finally cold enough here again to put on a heater ... so I (stupidly) decided to do just that.
After most of the day I thought ... hmmm I wonder how much power this thing is using, I probably should see if I can get one of the miners in the garage working again, and use that instead ...
Checks watt meter ... WTF? 1700W!

OK got my A741 all working 100% again, slowed the frequency down to 500, hacked the /etc/init.d/cgminer to use $fan-42 instead of $fan-100 ...
Not loud any more at all, ~5.2THs, and works well as a heater here in the lounge room Smiley
Woo! Less power also - just under 1000W - heater that pays for itself Smiley

I've done this before with earlier miners, but always had heat problems with the miners, or had to put them in the laundry due to the noise - so not as effective.
These settings work exceptionally well on the A741

Mine on Smiley

Edit: it's under 50dB (fan in the 20-25% range) most of the time, occasionally speeds the fan up to 32% (~58dB) and ever so rarely up a bit more (but it didn't while I was measuring it)

Useless factoid...perhaps...

You can safely fit an Avalon 741, controller, and cabling into a USPS Priority International Large Flat Rate Box. Saves 60% over FedEx or UPS, and about the same over using the Avalon carton and paying the weight rate.

Mine on.

Kano, I just got woken up by a symphony of beeps from all of my 12 miners.  Shocked Looks like they couldn't connect for some time but now back to normal.  Tongue

What had gone wrong?  Huh

EDIT: Just checked all of my Ethereum miners and it looks like they were down as well.  Apparently the local internet provider had a problem and cut off the internet for about 9 minutes.  So never mind thanks!
Ya gotta hate it when that happens... Kiss

...which it does here fairly regularly...
