With NVIDIA GTX 1070's; is X17 worth mining?

Yes.

Are there particular algorithms that are better for NVIDIA cards?

Yes.

Please advise?

You should benchmark your exact card(s), as there are variations between manufacturers (eVGA vs. MSI vs. ASUS, etc.), and over/under-clock as appropriate.

Thanks. I did benchmark, they're all EVGA cards. I'm just wondering overall which algorithms are typically better for Nvidia?

If you’re using nvidia, just use a script like Nemosminer or Sniffdog miner to automatically mine the best algo based on profitability.  They benchmark your card(s) and use that to decide what best to mine at any given moment.

As for equihash, yes nvidia is good at hashing it, but that doesn’t necessarily means it’s the most profitable.

I find the most profitable algo seems to switch between tribes, x17, blake2, and skein the most.

Sometimes when mining I get this, and I'll get a ton of them very rapidly....

   Ninja (lyra2v2)(auxPoW)   0.014137 ---   0.069%   0.00000000   4m ago

The mBTC just says 0.00000 does that mean I'm not getting anything from it??
i think those are merge mined coins and have no real value anyway

Alright?

Yeah I'm on x17 and these keep popping up, not even the right algorithm... Is it a problem?

its perfectly normal.  doesn't hurt your hashrate or shares submitted, and might get you a little extra on the side.

Thanks, I just feel like I'm always on x17 - is that bizarre? I always thought equihash was really good for nivida; but it never uses that algo..

Merged mining. Requires no extra effort on the part of the miners. It's free money, albeit a tiny tiny amount of free money. Not to worry. Also, it's been discussed multiple times in this thread previously. Though admittedly it can be difficult to find information in the hundreds of pages we have now.

Generally speaking, AMD is better at ethash & cryptonight, and Nvidia is better at Lyra and Neoscrypt... but take that with a healthy dose of "your mileage may vary".

Though, if you did benchmark your cards, you should already know that, because the mining software would tell you which algos were better than others.  Otherwise, www.whattomine.com can give you some guidance, but again, YMMV - don't take the profit #s as absolutes.

My AR-15 ID's itself as a toaster. Want breakfast?
I replied to this shortly after you posted originally. Yobit is not on the same chain as ccex and my pool. And not by a little. Seems they are vastly different.

oah god... more yobit shenanigans.....  I didn't see your original reply.... thanks for the heads up.  Ill push a request to them to re-check which chain they are on and if its the correct one.  Who knows, maybe they will take some action...

hey, started mining XVG but address is reporting UNO, please fix? thanks in advance
http://www.zpool.ca/?address=DTrtttpoPhaeqU7obS8dgvMhJ5pDUanQ9o

I am having the same issue, I provided an XVG wallet and specified the XVG currency but in the Wallet details it is showing Unobtainium as the preferred currency and a warning.  I am however showing mining efforts are working with the CPU Miner.

What's your complete ccminer (or w/e) command line?  What is your "-p" option currently?  wallet?

I seem to have confused Unobtanium with Ninja (AuxPow) so you can disregard that statement. What part of XVG-lyra is wrong? The symbol for Verge as the front page shows is XVG-lyra and that's what I hope to receive funds as. I was worried that I saw some Vert along with Verge, and a bunch of Ninja in my Last 50 earning, but nothing other than Unobtanium in my Total Unpaid or Total Paid.

YOU MUST ALWAYS set your currency in your password field that matches your wallet address: c=. The pool has mined hundreds of different coins and many have the same address version. We CAN NOT read your mind and possible know what currency you want. If no c= is set, your currency will be randomly chosen from any matching coins we have used. This HAS TO BE A REAL EXCHANGE SYMBOL. Do not use a symbol that has an added. Such as XVG-blake2s or AUR-sha or DGB-skein, these are ALL WRONG. These are used only for the pool to support multi-algo coins.

Your Zpool wallet is fucked up.  Start over, before you waste any more electricity.

Do this:

-a lyra2v2 -d 0,1,2,3,4 -i 24,24,24,24,24 -o stratum+tcp://lyra2v2.mine.zpool.ca:4533 -u NEW-XVG-RECIPIENT-ADDRESS-GOES-HERE -p c=XVG

... and let it run for a good 30 minutes.  This will mine Lyra2v2 (all coins on the pool) and convert any Ninja or Vertcoin mined back into XVG for you.

Thanks, will do.

If my rigs are set to run ccminer-Alexis-hsr as below, should I see anything other than unobtanium and Verge in my earnings? Why do I see Vert and other coins? Is it not possible to mine Verge only?

-a lyra2v2 -d 0,1,2,3,4 -i 24,24,24,24,24 -o stratum+tcp://lyra2v2.mine.zpool.ca:4533 -u DLKATBjX5Vukj7KWvLS1pBhLZZcGRKRZBH -p c=XVG-lyra

1) Why would you expect Unobtainium from Lyra2v2?
2) The entire Lyra2v2 pool is focused on Vertcoin right now - go look at the damned pool info
3) No, this is not a solo-coin-mining system.  You mine an ALGORITHM, not a coin type.

-p c=XVG-lyra

This is WRONG.  Go look at the MAIN PAGE for ZPool.ca and read about how to set your pay-out coin correctly.

Also, this...

We are short of this currency (20.07906824 UNO). Please STOP your miners and switch to BTC until we find more UNO blocks.
YOU are responsible if you continue to mine for UNO dispite this warning.
