In my case, I have not talked about any of my dices sessions to my family, it is because I rather find it to be irrelevant, since I have not turned gambling into a very strong habit I do everyday, I am rather a casual gambler and casual drinker.
Though, this thread and other posts I have written today have made me conspired to tell them about my casual activities, just for them to know I trust them and also so they can check on me when they believe there is something wrong happening to me.
I think most of gamblers experiment shame, I would bet there is an study about it somewhere on the internet.

What is there to be proud of in gambling? even when you win millions of dollars from gambling there is nothing to be proud of because it will only make your life more complicated. For me personally, I prefer to keep it a secret, because it's not because I'm ashamed of it, it's just a little annoying when people know that I'm a gambler and moreover I don't want people to come to me and ask for money when I get jackpots.

I will speak for the ladies and say that for the gamblers, it is important to keep it a secret or keep it to a few ears because there is a stigma attached when people know that as a female, you are addicted to gambling or you gamble actively. It sends a message of being irresponsible to them and they have wrong opinions about us which they usually share to others, by extension, also sharing the stigma. So, most women will keep their gambling a secret not because they are not proud, but to avoid stigma from people around them. This is for the ladies that care about what people think about them.

There's no "one size fits all" ring to it. Most people just like to keep their business private away from prying eyes and not because they're ashamed of it or not proud. I feel like it's people that wants social validation that hide the fact that they're gamblers from otherd since it's a general consensus in the society that gambling is bad, especially for someone with responsibilities who needs to be conservative when it comes to financial risks.
If you're a gambler and make a living out of it but don't see the point of getting people's approval for your gambling skills/activities it's fine in my books.
And speaking of gamble there are those that view it as an irresponsible activity to embark on and whoever is into it is tag as irresponsible guy, for some it beyond being irresponsible but a sin something that is evil, while some others out of an ugly experience of a loved one that got ruined by it due to extreme addiction.
If gambling has been made so easy to do privately within the comfort of our homes using our mobile phone i dont see a reason why we should go public again in letting everyone knows that we are gamblers, we don't need to announce ourselves to them in other not to have a second thought concerning us for being irresponsible as a gambler, this privacy is our own personal integrity that we must rise and fight for except we allow them to know what we are upto, no one can guess us being a gambler if we don't allow them know.

Gambling is not what we cannot be proud of doing, but there are situations we need to go low to maintain some level of pedigree and integrity for ourselves, everyone has a decision to make concerning their privacy as long as the government doesn't kicked against gambling within your location.
Sometimes it is indeed okay to be secretive of things that you don't want to explain yourself out. You'd indeed increase your ego in some instances that you would share your winnings but most of the time it would be misinterpreted by others especially non-gamblers. Gambling is morally incorrect as we all know; it contradicts religious belief and laws of the authority. Also, there's a negative impression towards this industry in particular with debt, loss, and addiction. Therefore, it is better to keep it for ourselves alone 'coz it is us who would understand it more without any questions and without any criticism.

Sometimes keeping something secret from the public does not necessarily mean that you are not proud of it. Sometimes it's also good to be private about something one does in life; if one gets himself involved in it, he will definitely alert others about it. People will have their reasons; some might be because they are not proud of it, and some might be because of how people will view them, just as you have stated, but to me, that is not the only reason. To me, I do hide most of my means of earning from people who I don't want to share them with, and security and privacy matter a lot.
Most times it might also be that the person is trying to protect himself from the stress of their neighbors, friends, or relatives always coming to him with some kind of gambling discussion or prediction, which at times he might never want to get himself involved with. I prefer not to share my past gambling habits with my family. only people on this forums know if I gamble a lot. Don't ever think that gamblers are not proud about what they are doing. Its just not all people can accept that one could make you happy and sometimes they tag you a bad people or prone to do something harm to anyone since automatically they discriminate then also tell that you can potentially do illegal things due to gambling activities you are doing.
We live on judgemental world so sometimes there are things what we do should keep a secret so that no one disturbs us and receive nonsense comment from people who's not open minded on other things.
I put myself as an example I live in a society where gamblers are looked down on when they are gambling too much and spending too much money and time gambling, so to avoid the bad impression that could harm my reputation in my social and job I prefer to keep my gambling secret to myself.

Sometimes it's better to keep some things secret... Maybe some are not proud of what they are doing, sometimes because what we are doing is illegal in the place we live or not acceptable by the majority, and sometimes it's just easier to do things in quiet and peace... why somebody needs to know my passions?
But when it comes to life partners there shouldn't be secrets. For sure we keep many things just for us when it comes to friends and family, religion, and government laws, but I am totally open with my wife and I think there is no healthy marriage if both are not fully open to each other.

The reason I may not tell some people is the fear that they too can begin to gamble and become addicted. I decided to keep my gambling life not because of what my society will talk about it. Once principle that I have lived with is “if you’re not providing any of my needs, then you don’t get a say in my life or how I live it”.
In my society they are so many things that are not accepted and gambling is part of them but if I should take what they have to say to heart that means I won’t get to do so many things that I enjoy doing.
There are several reasons that could make someone hide an habit of his/her and that include attention. Not everyone tend to fancy attention, they are people that just want to live their lives without anyone knowing anything about it as they feel safer that way.

I think that those who hide their passion for gambling just do not want unnecessary attention from the society. Among gamblers there are many people who can control themselves during the game and have never had serious problems with gambling, but society often considers all gamblers as unreliable people. Of course they are wrong. I think you realize that I do not want to spend my personal time to prove them otherwise. Therefore, it is easier for me to hide from others that I like to gamble. The only important note is that your family should know that you gamble, because they are able to notice changes in a person in time and realize that he needs help.

Personally I am not proud of the gambling that I do because of course I prefer to hide it from friends and people who know me, except my wife because it is important for her to know and help me in limiting my gambling budget, this is done so that I do not trapped in addiction, because when you become an addict it will be difficult to recover.Besides, why do we have to share our winnings on social media and require that many people know that I gamble, it will definitely look bad in their eyes too, so there's no need to publicize it too much because it's better for me to gamble in a hidden way using my cellphone and computer at home, that's more than enough although my close friend is also a gambler I don't want him to know that I gamble.
