There are lies, damned lies and statistics. MTwain
It's good news, we need to start to have many more real life cases where crypto is used in the real world. For it to become mainstream though it will still take a while for we need supportive and ripe technology (no problems with TX price and speed), aswell as a fairly stable value for crypto (no bussiness will go deep into accepting crypto for long if crypto price fluctuation is not stable).

The move to Bitcoin might seem surprising from KFC, but the company has been looking for ways to flip buzzy tech into a viral hit recently—last year the company released a Bioshock-esque virtual reality game to train employees and a Faraday cage.

KFC Canada has been leaning into the cryptocurrency memes. “Another big rise in Bitcoin,” one tweet from Thursday read, “Hodl for the dip,” referencing a cryptocurrency in-joke. “If Satoshi reveals his true identity, his bucket is on us,” another tweet stated, referring to Bitcoin’s anonymous creator Satoshi Nakamoto.

It’s an interesting time to be accepting Bitcoin as payment, mostly because Bitcoin can be really expensive to send (the average fee people are paying is just under $30), and because it’s so valuable, increasingly fewer people want to trade it for things like fried chicken. Nobody wants to be that guy who spent a ton of Bitcoin on two pizzas years ago, which would be worth millions of dollars today.

If true that is awesome, just for the media spread if nothing else. Not many people will actually buy kfc with BTC, but makes people more aware of it.

I think if this program is succeeded, then I am sure that many food companies will use bitcoin too like what KFC did and this will help bitcoin to be spread in many countries. besides that, I am sure that this news will make another company studied about bitcoin and if they can get the benefits from bitcoin for their company then they will apply and use bitcoin for their company and their user.

KFC Canada is doing marketing for KFC and for Bitcoin.

I want to pay for KFC using bitcoin but I don't live in Canada. More places should do this.

If this would happen in all country all kfc branch will accept bitcoin as a payment method this will be a time that the value of bitcoin will rise. But I don't think buying food in lieu of bitcoin is not a wise idea because we all know that bitcoin vaue is not stable and maybe in future the price of 1 bucket of chicken today in bitcoin vs the price of 5 bucket in future might be equal price in terms of bitcoin.

Its good initiative by KFC, Now even there small bucket of fried chicken will give more returns from last fiscal year

Fried chicken chain KFC Canada is accepting bitcoin – for a limited time and for a cryptocurrency-themed bucket of chicken, that is.

The limited-time marketing move sees the Canada-based chain advertising "The Bitcoin Bucket" complete with a Facebook-based live-tracker of the standing price for the product, which works out to roughly 20 Canadian dollars depending on the exchange rate with bitcoin.

That said, you can't exactly walk into a KFC location in Canada and pay with crypto at the cash register.

Instead, the company is accepting Bitcoin via BitPay as one of the options through an online check-out page. The Bitcoin Bucket will be delivered directly to the customer's address (the product also carries a $5 fee), according to the check-out process on its website.

I am one of those people who think that it is very important for such big companies to respond to technology so quickly. These events is one of the useful steps for acceptance of crypto world  and the real use of cryptocurrencies.

Hope majority of fast food chains would also start accepting bitcoin as a payment, although there are several wallet apps that can be used to convert btc to fiat currency. Directly accepting bitcoin for transactions would be different.

That now becomes an expensive 5 wing pack when you factor in the BTC fee's. Spend $10 and then have another $5 in fees. Would be better if they accepted BCASH about 1 cent in fees.

I have seen marketing messages like this over the past couple of months but to me, this is still thinking inside the box. I have had my crypto debit card now for almost 2 months it is backed by Mastercard and it comes from a US provider that is following all the proper regulations. I can spend any one of 14 cryptocurrencies with zero tx fees anywhere on the planet in millions of stores and for online shopping. I have bought a Pizza with XRP, a Samsung phone with ETH and drink in a nightclub with BTC.

I can also withdraw local currency from any ATM, seriously this is the future and its already here.

As you mentioned it is only available online that doesn't make any difference, currently there are thousands of option to spend bitcoin online even though it's kfc it doesn't make a difference.
Plus a 5$ fees seems unacceptable to me the reason is if we try to buy bitcoin from anywhere we always end up paying 5-10% fees maybe if they could offer a discount for making payment with bitcoin would be better

Yeah blah blah blah, great news.   Have any of you guys actually used bitcoin to pay for a meal at KFC yet?  I am genuinely curious as to whether this is going to become a thing.

I suspect it won't, as bitcoin is a plaything for speculators and will remain so as far as I can tell, and no one really wants to spend something that could be worth double tomorrow on some fried chicken that's going to end up in the sewer system within a day.  Half the time if you have diarrhea.   And while I'm in that same boat, I would definitely do it once if my local chicken shack took bitcoin.  Hells yes I would.

This news was also posted in this forum a few months ago. and it is the same fast food chain and country, In my opinion we shouldn't be happy with this because the bitcoin's price always vary everyday. We don't know, our bitcoin that we use to buy a bucket of chicken could be worth more than a bucket of chicken. it could be more bucket of chicken tomorrow. So, buy items using crypto if the bitcoin's price is slightly stable. so there will be no regrets

Thats a great news that even fastfood chains love to take part with bitcoin. I love the idea that bitcoin is now well known all over the world maybe soon it will be established more in our country and many will use this.
