Tiggger this is no Batch 3 Neptune's, it's only Batch 1 and Batch 2.

The first machine that were offered to Knc Customers only were the appreciative batch, then batch 1, and now batch 2's (both batch 1 and 2 are open to the general public).

Excellent idea, anyone order previous kits from KnC and know how quickly (units/day) they roll them out once they start mass production?

Is there any definitive timeline on batch releases? The way I'm perceiving based on the info on the website is that Neptune 1.0 was open to previous customers at $10k, then 2 weeks later Neptune 1.5 will ship ($13k), and then two weeks later, Neptune batch 2.0 (back to $10k) will ship?

This all seems a bit screwy.

you need to understand how difficulty changes every (roughly) two weeks.....if you dont get that, then you wont understand.

Did kncminer just drop the price by $3k a week after I paid $13k?

Yes, for the batch coming out 1 month after yours. If you make more than $3000 in the first month you have yours, then you will have the better deal.

I was already in the second batch.

You sound confused about the batch numbering system KnC has decided to use. The current $10k batch is technically the third batch.

what are you asking? are you complaining that you paid 3k more because its a month earlier?

Simply put, they make way way way more money just selling them than mining with them.

How do you figure that?  At current difficulty the Neptune pays for itself in a matter of days?

That may be the case in 6 months but not now.

Because there are no Neptunes to mine with yet, silly! They physically cannot exist yet as they just started designing them. The most important part (the chip) hasn't even been taped out yet with TSMC, which means KnC won't have a functional device for at least 3 months. We all watched as they shipped their Jupiters less than 2 weeks after getting the chips themselves - which was amazing in comparison to others (BFL, HashFast, etc...)

You know they have an army of these things in their own private stash that will have been in full production for months before anyone else gets one.

Lol, they wish. They are completely dependent on their suppliers and the 20nm ASIC isn't going to be completed until March at the absolute earliest. Besides, their policy is to mine with no more than 5% of what they sell. I bet when they refer to themselves as mining, they're actually referring to their own employees who have also bought miners at a discount. I wouldn't be surprised if they are FAR below the 5% they've stated as a limit. Simply put, they make way way way more money just selling them than mining with them.

I asked kncminer how many total neptune units they would be manufacturing.
They dodged the question several times, telling me they would make "1200 units for the general batch".

I think I rephrased the question 3 or 4 times before they fianlly said "we don't know how many units will be manufactured".   You know they have an army of these things in their own private stash that will have been in full production for months before anyone else gets one.

There will be 2 batches of 1200 units so 2400 total Neptunes for Q1/Q2.  At a minimum of 3TH/s it will be a total of 7.2PH/s when they are all delivered.  Most likely it will be more than that.

EDIT: One thing that is curious is the sheer number of order numbers.  There appears to be 6000+ orders for only 2400 units and several people have multiple units per order.  Would there be that many cancelled ones?

Each time units were added to cart order number increased.  I had multiple cart order numbers per day from checking stock that i never checked out.

Has anyone calculated the total number of neptune units manufactured and what impact those units will have on difficulty?
