Yup it's impossible to make only a few asics.

I am pleased they have made at least one working Mars board already.

What makes you think it is working? All I've seen is pics of a PCBA with no pics of any actual mining going on.

Sadly there's no guarantee asics will work until millions are spent.

Don't worry, many of us are going to Stockholm to visit KNC and will report to the community.

Report what? That an overpriced fpga miner is actually there and mining?
Is there something else?

Unfortunately not. Some of us will nevertheless go to see face to face the guys to which we might order the ASICs.

I live in Sweden - Göteborg, And I'm willing to travel to Stockholm to take pictures, take notes, ask questions, from people here in this thread. I am a poor student so I wound need some cash for train ticket.

BTW: ORSoC credit limit overdraft checked. It's OK, it's a small but healthy company for which insurances companies are willing to insure you a smallish credit amount.

Take this with a grain of salt, but it's still a positive outcome.

My order is low 36##.

I was worried there, thought you were concealing two other numbers, lol.
I didn't want to think I'd have to wait for 3600 to be made before I got one XD

There are at least 5000 pre-orders in the system ATM.

Serious questions now...

How many do KnC plan to ship in their first batch? that would be useful info for all of us with order numbers

Originally they spoke of batches of 500.

That was before Mars, Saturn and Jupiter were announced.

In an email to me they stated FPGA's become affordable due to economies of scale around the 400+ order mark. I believe that's chip volume and obviously there is more than one chip per machine. They aren't profiting from Mars due to FPGA expense apparently, it's more a proof of concept and ability.

So there may or may not be an initial run of 500 units sold w.r.t. the ASIC machines per run and I believe there will be less of the Mars as it's just proof of concept.

So for what it's worth, no one knows, but I would still go with orders being bunched in runs of 500...

Hope that helps?

Yes it did, thanks.

I contacted them before and receive an email basically saying that supply was not a problem and they could sell as many as ordered, so i hope that means they are going for some serious economies of scale with all their units. My order is low 36##. I wonder if the orders actually started at 0 or some other number...hmmm

They started at 0. I have an early order below 80, and I know that many were quicker than me.

No one knows anything, maybe get your pre-order place in line, troll and will be wary of scams. I don't even think knc posted after their op.

I too would like to see knc post in 'ere. But they do respond to emails, so they've not disappeared into the etherweb....

I am pleased they have made at least one working Mars board already.

All being well, I will have the cash for 2 Jupiter's, shortly, and it relieves me to see at least one product manufactured.

I would love to attend a future open day, but will base my final decision on reports from this first one as whether to invest.

I am also happy to have an ASIC Miner manufacturer in the EC, as it saves me a large import cost on both BFL and Avalon items, plus the cost per GH/s is extremely competitive.

Our banter is better than all the preorder and VAT crap over a product that doesn't even exist yet.

Not it isn't.

The vapourware issue aside, I was getting a crash course in EU VAT rules!

Watching
That's nice. I'm not sure anyone reading the thread really cares who is watching it...?

he is just hunting posts and spamming every thread with useless posts like this one..

+1

It amazes me that people post mundane drivel to increase their post count.

Quick aside: Should I get a turtle or goldfish as my next pet?

I can be your pet... given that you feed me bitcoins..

Nice to see boredom and apathy setting in amongst the old skool. Stop polluting an otherwise useful thread!
